@Kevin Cantor You may have a point but for all the negative things, there have been many positive things as well. Match quality has vastly improved. Stories actually have an end and don't get randomly dropped because Vince simply got bored. Shows don't have that "script was torn up and re-written 5 minutes ago" feel. Also, not everyone can be pushed all at once, it was the same thing under Vince. Lots of guys were lost in the shuffle. Promos are far better than they were under Vince since they're not completely scripted. Could some guys use it? Sure, but a lot of them don't need it. I will admit that HHH has gone a little overboard with the re-hires, but a lot of those guys never had a fair chance under Vince, so he's just trying to give them that chance. Speaking of chances, what about Judgment Day? Finn especially. He was floundering for years except when he went back to NXT. And Judgment Day was firmly set as a bunch of jobbers but now they're one of the top groups in WWE, that doesn't happen under Vince. This is getting a bit long so I'll stop here, but I will say again, for all the negative things you pointed out, there are also quite a few positives. Plus it's barely been 6 months, give the guy a chance.

The company wanted him permanently gone, including the board. They even tried to keep him permanently gone, but it is hard to overcome a person who apparently holds over 80% of the voting power (because the shares Vince holds grant him much greater voting power than the "regular" shares, just having a bit more than a third of the shares gives him the vast majority of the vote). Bryan is right in that the last piece of the puzzle was floating the story that Vince was coming back to help sell WWE, as that will keep stock prices high for at least a few months.

Putting up a united front against his return had a microscopic chance of working. Or if they could have even just convinced him to further delay his return, then that would have bought the company more time to establish that it not only didn't need Vince, but might actually be more profitable without him. Which ties back to stock price. If Vince had forced his way back into power, and that resulted in the stock price dropping, then he'd potentially be at risk of a lawsuit. Except he saw that risk and countered by publicizing that he needed to return to maximize any sale of the company, which both inflated the stock price around the idea of his return (under the belief that WWE was about to be sold) and put the risk back onto the board if they continued to fight against him (as his opposition would be responsible for risking reducing potential profits.)
