    You REALLY need to keep this apprenticeship content!!! This is fire and once it gets some traction and attention you will knock it out the park! More importantly, the younger generations feed on "Cnotent" and this will inspire a whole new wave of fabricators and artists just like he did with Monster Garage back in the day! I myself was inspired by Jesse and helped to send me on my fabricating journey! I have met Jesse a few times over the years and he has always been a nice guy and even with the fame he still seemed humble and just like one of the boys. That humbleness, talent and good old boy vibe is why I have always had respect for him in many different ways.

    no backpurge guarantee has sugaring on backside if they got full penetration and also taking the tig cup off the molten pool after finishing a weld to quickly and not allowing the post flow to shield the pool from the oxides in the air.

      Well, obviously if its pointed out that there was no backpurge, we know the tubes weren't plugged. Point is, he didn't backpurge, and clearly that stainless sugared on the inside.....

    • @ethanbruss26
      @ethanbruss26 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They probably purged the runners because they’re butt welds.
      On the flange you wouldn’t need to purge because you shouldn’t burn through the base metal on a fillet weld .. the collecter was a slip joint so same concept.
      I’m giving them the benefit of doubt here

    Please put anti seize on those header bolts it made me cringe when I seen that , I had too much bad luck with stainless bolts gulling up especially stainless to carbon ,then an old timer taught me the trick of putting a slight dab of anti seize on the tread , keep up the amazing work Jesse !!!🤘🤘

    Welding stainless is no different than any other metal, didn’t see any back purging going on with these welds so I’m not sure what Jesse is referring to when he said they did. Also back purging has fuck all to do with penetration. Guaranteed some shitty sugared welds on those headers. Well done apprentice.

    • @herowaga882
      @herowaga882 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Back purging stops cauliflower on the backside of weld when you do full penetration or root welding. When you get the heat just right and move fast enough, you can leave a rainbow color and no cauliflower on the backside without back purge. I do it all the time, as well as other people. In the end, as long as the weld holds, it's a job well done.

    • @ssouthboundpachyderm
      @ssouthboundpachyderm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hero Waga eh, when making stainless headers the point is to keep them stainless, might as well back purge and make sure you don’t have sugaring inside your nice new headers, especially considering Jesse James made them so they are like a $5k set of headers lol, I’d be pissed if they rusted at the welds

    • @herowaga882
      @herowaga882 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ssouthboundpachyderm The cauliflower, does not rust, and inside gets coated with soot eventually by the engine. I would like to back purge everything, but real life is all about productivity in given time. So you find a way to be efficient and sufficient for the parts you weld. We only back-purge 20GA and thinner, which is rare weld, only happens on helicopter exhausts so far. Also, if you paid a lot, I am sure the fabricator will be glad to warranty his work.

    • @ssouthboundpachyderm
      @ssouthboundpachyderm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hero Waga we weld stainless often, for art, we don’t back purge, we have shitty sugared welds inside everything, it rusts. Ironically using improper techniques in the art has its benefits as our welds don’t discolor when polished to a mirror finish. Some of our competitors use proper techniques for welding stainless and they have blue color after polish, so say my clients.

    • @herowaga882
      @herowaga882 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ssouthboundpachyderm if you see rusts, its chromium burned off too much, or contaminated prep work before weld. Weld fast, and just about right temp to stop chromium loss. Your competitor is using a hand held propane torch (usually plumber's propane) to heat the work piece after polishing to give that color. When you polish, all that colored heat mark are gone. The more mirror finish you get, will give you a more deep colors when you heat the work to color them in.
