Less RNG but still that slim chance of getting the better draw so you never really know who is going to win. The fact Consus and Blinky were in the finals proves it is mostly about skill. Love it.

geoguesser is a very good competition game to watch, even more because you can actual learn a bit from it and it is so easy to understand the rules and the skills of the player, only downside there is no teamplay.
There is team play, but you don’t see it in this World Cup and for a reason. Hopefully within the next year, the game designers can update the Team Duels mode to be more complex and interesting than just “more people hedging guesses makes the results mostly luck-based when the best pros play each other”. It would be even better if they could somehow promote the evolution of offense and defense in the game. Right now, offense and defense are literally the same thing: guess your best and you either take off damage from your opponent or limit their damage on you. But it would be so cool if we can have some sort of defensive specialist and offensive specialist 2v2, or potentially even more players and “formations”.
You can set up team matches - most of the tourneys held by Rainbolt are team based. I liked the singles version for the World Cup, but there’s hours and hours of fun team-based tournaments on Rainbolt’s channel.

Damn I haven't even played the game and I was on edge of chair. Such a blast of a tournament. But seriously when rainbolt is taking breaks and the other cast members take over, it's not even close. The guy is on fire especially with his knowledge and energy.

I don't recall seeing a sign like this ever irl so the fact they stumbled on it in Geoguessr is incredible.

I use a similar process, but instead of lab-ing a tonne to understand move properties, I use websites like geppopotamus that have very detailed documentation already. They clearly list startup frames, properties on block, hit and CH, as well as if strings are natural/CH combos and/or delayable. The main important thing they're missing is if moves have guaranteed followups, so first thing I do is look for punishment guides, just to be sure their isn't better punishers then the data implies. After that I use the data to break down what each move is useful for, like: "Fast CH launch" "Hit confirmable string" "Evasive low" "Homing KDN low, CH launch" "Fast safe mid" Also for strings with multiple paths, I'll summarize the purpose of each like: "Hit confirmable path" "CH confirmable path" "Safe high ender" "Unsafe mid ender" "Launch punishable low ender" "Stance transition ender" Finally, if any moves seem objectively worse than another based on their frames and properties, test them in game to see what benefit the "weaker" one has. Often It'll be simple things like longer range, better damage, or a more deceptive animation.
I find it fascinating how he can identify where he is on a world map from a single frame photo, but he can't quickly work out the maths as to whether someone has won or not
I mean doing something like (4780-3836)*3.5 and subtracting it from the losing player’s current health of 3500.. it’s not the easiest thing to do in the 1 second between showing the individual scores and calculating the penalty. I guess you might mean the faction of a second AFTER out calculates the penalty but before it hits the player as damage… that’s a simple > or < comparison 😅
