    ---
John Salley opened up to VladTV about the Pistons allegedly walking off the court in the 1991 Playoffs before the game ended. John explained that Bill Laimbeer said he wanted to hand the Bulls the same torch that was passed to them when the Celtics left the court in 1988. Salley added that he didn't want to walk off of the court, adding that they hugged Pistons general manager Jack McCloskey before conceding to the Bulls. Salley went on to address Jordan calling the Pistons "classless" and saying they walked off of the court before the game ended. To hear more, including John explaining how Jordan was marketed "phenomenally" throughout his career, hit the above clip.

The NBA probably won't find anyone close to MJ. The way MJ did it was thru determination and perseverance. The Bad Boys played a physical style that no other team has had since and they were a great team. The NBA's answer to the "next MJ" is always to make it easier for "their hope/hype". Michael Jordan earned his goat status.

DaRebel Knicks had it. They just weren’t as great offensively or as smart as pistons. Bulls had it too but not with physical fouls just physical defense. KnowledgeIsKey Kobe never was close that’s why the nba changed rules after 2003/04 where 1 nba player avg 25 points Mcgrady on 41% FG, Bron was at 41% FG, Kobe was under 45% FG, in the finals he was 38% FG took 22.5 shots to avg 22.6 points that’s trash! Rules got changed that summer now Nash mvp, Kobe mvp, and every other wing when before centers and power forwards won mvp unless your name was Jordan, Magic, Bob Cousy, Dr J and Oscar Robertson! Nba had to help Kobe and Lebron era by banning defenses that were allowed throughout the history of the nba and making scoring easier then Kobe started getting career highs without having Shaq hide him from double teams but couldn’t win shit until he got another center that could score in the low post. Jaylen said it...

You have to understand the “Detroit” mentality. The entire “Bad Boys” era, never really ended here... it’s tough. It’s working class. It’s willing everything out of nothing... it’s not a black or white thing, it’s a Detroit Metropolitan thing. It’s a Michigan mindset...
So when you’re talking slick like MJ, his sidekick Robin, and the rest of the Bulls backup singers... and it’s in an intense competitive rivalry like we and the folks West across the Lake have...
    These things happen. Shrugs
It’s not just basketball. It’s a rivalry on everything. Again it’s a mindset. Like Jalen said.... there were not that many Jordan fans from where I’m from. To this day you don’t see a ton of Jordan jerseys walking around my city... The feelings above fame are real.

So be it the Blackhawks v Wings, Bulls v Pistons etc hasn’t our teams always been divisional rivals?
Michigan Avenue starts in downtown Detroit... and ends in Chicago (historically this was the route from our cities before highways). There’s always been a rivalry. This isn’t a Big Meech story... sports wise again this is historical.

They were pissed that Jordan was publicly shit talking their style of play to gain favour with the referees, but they never openly whined about how Boston passed the torch to them in 1988. Never. They’ve merely only pointed out that they’ve been held to a different/double standard. Which they have. There are something missing: you know why the Celtics walked off? It’s because of the extra things that happened outside of the court. Rodman said that if Bird was black he’d be a regular player and Thomas co-signed it. At that time, Bird was the best player in the league. So saying that about him wasn’t something that bird or the other Celtics liked. Or the fouls that Laimbeer would commit on Bird. This dude literally jumped on Bird and could have broke his neck. So the Celtics walked off not because it was good natured but because they didn’t respect the Pistons because of the extra shit they did on and off the court. I’m saying overall as a team.

calvin Brice. T “May 26, 1987 · Laimbeer, who was fined $5000 for fighting after a flagrant foul against Larry Bird last Saturday, is braced for a hostile reception. Rod Thorn, National Basketball Association vice president of operations, also announced Monday that Bird was fined $2,000 for fighting and Bill Walton $500 for leaving the bench after Laimbeer slammed Bird to the court in Game 3 at the Pontiac (Mich.) Silverdome.
NBA Commissioner David Stern attended Sunday`s game at the Silverdome, where the only action came from Celtic forward Darren Daye shoving Piston forward Rick Mahorn.
''The level of physical play seems to be stepping up this year,'' Stern said. ''It is not acceptable at all. The whole situation of physical force on fouls will be dealt with by the league this summer.''
The Pistons have lost 16 straight at Boston Garden with their last victory here coming on Dec. 19, 1982. The Celtics are 17-2 when playing Game 5 on their home court with a playoff series tied. They have won the last 13 such games with their last loss April 14, 1962.”

For the longest time, I thought John Salley and JB Smoove was the same person. They look so much alike.

The Celtics left for the locker room to avoid a mob scene on Detroit home court after a win. I think it was more for safety then anything else.

Jalen "Simp" Rose should be happy to have been on the same court as MJ.

The argument is the reason the Celtics walks off is safety reason since the Fans could rush the court. Nobody mentioned it.
