I would buy a Kawasaki 250cc to 400cc motocross bike as new as possible for €4,000 then probably spend €1,800 a year to run and replace it every few years or buy a Honda ace I think there 150cc and €3,000 new then spend €1200 a year. After 10 years of living in the country, I would recommend never to buy a Chinese or Indian vehicle, but it’s down to a budget I guess.
@@passivenomads i would avoid chinese too but i like indian products,cheap and cheerful and quality is just fine,they are by far biggest producer i owned Bajaj Kawasaki 135 in Philippines and it ran fine,no problem,frugal too Hero Honda produces 200 cc adventue bike and it cost around 15M ariary and it has suspension good enough to tackle malagasy roads,Kawa is at least double that,it is more resilient but not that much in my opinion you don't need more than 250 cc in Madagascar,there are no highways and roads rarely allow to reach 100 km/h Honda Ace is motorcycle loved around Africa and it costs only 6M ariary but it is not exactly for bad roads,suspension is too weak,it is ideal around city though
5000 euros a year to have a car? that is pretty high number my little Renault in Europe cost me 200 yearly insurance,200 for repairs,no depreciation since it is that old and 500 for petrol to make around 5000 kms granted,cars are more expensive in Madagascar but labour is cheaper,so is petrol that said,you have quite thirsty beast,i plan to buy Dacia Duster or along that line although i enjoy motorcycle more i think it was good idea to sell your car,it seems it cost you arm and leg to run,it broke a lot how much you pay for insurance and road use each year?
insurance is extremely cheap maybe €40 a year the car inspection test costs €30 a year, your comment €200 a year for repair made me laugh, I take it you don’t drive your car across a moto cross track on the way to work and back where you live like I have to hear. The problem is that all the parts for cars in Madagascar are Chinese or Indian copies there is no originals so you can end up half Chinese car no matter even if it was Japanese to begin with I wouldn’t touch anything that’s not Japanese or German and even German, Id only be talking about a Mercedes sprinter van or a truck. Maybe my estimate is a little high because I’m talking about 20,000 km a year across Madagascar along with knocking around and your own area that you live. I wouldn’t touch any tricky vehicles like small engine injection vehicles cause as the injectors got clogged up and as a tricky vehicles things like a Nissan Pathfinder or a BMWX6 could have a big problem as there is nobody that can repair tricky vehicles with lots of electrics . Realistically, the only vehicles to buy would be Japanese maybe French preferably a Toyota Hilux land cruiser if not a Mitsubishi L200 & definitely by four-wheel-drive.
@@passivenomads sure,roads in Slovenia are excellent and i rarely drive on unpaved road,that is why nobody rides 4x4 because there is no need and off road cars are more expensive to maintain simply because there is more parts to maintain actually i am surprised you even go by car,it must be cheaper to fly unless you have lot of luggagee
@@danieleverywhere132 well, let's say the roads in Slovenia are good, not excellent. I usually do 2 years ago many times a national street between Nova Gorica and Predil and even hit a big stone. But in Slovenia the cost of insurance makes a difference between a common car and 4×4. In Madagascar if you want to run on national roads it is quite impossible with a normal car. For most people in Europe there is no need for a big car. But still a good investment if you want to change residency to Madagascar. Shipping a car to Mada with your things in a container is worth it.
@danieleverywhere132 it costs about the same to fly or go by car, the pick up truck is useful for getting things done fast and moving building products around on my jobs in the south but the roads are so bad now that I will fly there next time I go in 6 months time.
@@LilianP-cb6zx road to Predil is mountain pass which means it is sussepible to lot of wear and stones are quite common,you could just not prevent debris even though road service is regular most of roads along border are narrow and windy,there are no major settlements so there is no initiative to build nice wide road insurance is not more expensive for 4x4 but it is for bigger displacement engine so if you drive little Fiat Panda 4x4 it cost you same as every other little car i don't know how it is about shipping container and paying taxes,surely it would be expensive but i was doing a bit of search and it seems there is quite a lot of import of indian cars nowadays to Madagascar and those are quite good Renault/Nissan/Dacia is omnipresent in Africa and they are known for rugged simple construction
@@passivenomads Marina blue is really good restaurant even toilet is clean little pricey but not excessively,good steaks,good pizza down the road toward pier of Anakao Express is eatery with excellent vegetable soup if you like such kind of food and it is dirt cheap,it is close to Al Shame,just on other side of the road if you like english kind of food there is german serving similar as black pudding it is fingers licking good on that triangle crossing with hotel Amazone i don't know the name it is smal place but popular with expats just ask for german restaurant
@@passivenomadswelcom back to 😊. There are few good inexpensive Gasy restaurants I can recommend if you don’t know them already: La Colombe and Restaurant Nandih. The latter is much cheaper with less choices and portions. Both are excellent fresh and tasty.

Depends on the cc let’s say 300cc and under £800 to buy £200 all in to run if your doing 5k miles
