    The hitch support is a separate piece from your bumper! they build after market units much stronger then the OEM pieces!! Good search on the internet will serve you with a great alternative!! Keep up the great work. WHOOOO!!

      Yeah the new hitch should be here today I may be installing it in a video we shall see.

    That was a really nice load of wood on the trailer. Putting the truck through it's paces already!! At least it wasn't any worse then that!! You'll really love that trailer. I have two of them 1 14ft. bumper pull and 1 18ft. gooseneck. Stay safe my friend!!

  • @bigbear568
    @bigbear568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very nice job stacking. Great load of wood to. That's sucks about the truck. On my dually I went with the frame mounted type hitch because I pull a 16 ft trailer like that and it stays overloaded. We bolted ours with four grade 8 bolts then stich welding for a little extra support. Be safe and if you have any questions just ask . Be glad to pass on any info you may need. Be blessed and stay well.

    Hey Scheib awesome trailer, my ‘87 ram failed same way, got a new bumper and frame hitch for the heavier tongue weight on the dump trailer, but had to reinforce last 2’ of the frame to mount it... that rust is sneaky... good luck and drive safe

    • @OutsidewithScheib
      @OutsidewithScheib  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably got the same hitch as I did then it should be here today but the bumper is going to be a little longer

  • @Bsetzd
    @Bsetzd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I replaced mine on my chevy 07 2500hd. With a curts hd. Hich it did not use the bumper at all . For mounting it sits a lil lower then stock. But its a much heavier hitch. Gotta love are pa salt . Ps. I would fluid film your hole under side of your truck befor winter . That stuff really helps stop the rust. I bought a gun kit on eBay that hooks up to your shop air an you can just go to town fast an easy way to apply the coating.

    Reminds me of when I hauled my first load of wood with my 7x14 Sure-Trac dump! Hitch didn’t fail but the nose of my F-250 was sky high from all the weight! Rear air bags were ordered that same day and installed later that week to solve that problem! These trailer sure can haul some weight! 🍻

    • @OutsidewithScheib
      @OutsidewithScheib  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol well I didn’t have that problem the trailer hauled great just to much cancer on the bumper support it couldn’t handle it I have a class V on order.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outside with Scheib Nice, that should solve it 💪🏼 Might want to look into fluid film, I use it on all my trailers and equipment twice a year and it works great to prevent rust or stop it from getting worse.

    When I was a kid back in the 60s, I had an uncle that would go up to NY and get rusted out cars and bring them down to SC and pull the motors and transmissions and put them into southern cars that were needing motors due to mileage but still had perfect bodies. He would also take southern cars up north and sell them at a premium because there was no rust on them. That salt is a bitch on steel. With that new trailer, you are stepping up your game for sure.

    Well that sucks! When you get a new hitch and bumper make sure it has a blue oval and a powerstoke diesel attached😆 JK!...yeah gotta love the good ol rustbelt USA. Are you gonna add some sideboards on the trailer? And maybe a rear hitch to pull the splitter along?

    • @OutsidewithScheib
      @OutsidewithScheib  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol yeah the rust belt sucks but I don’t think I would trade it for anything lol I will be putting sideboards on the trailer probably just a 2x12 on each side. Not to sure about towing the splitter behind the trailer lol but I like you’re thinking.

    What year is your truck? I have an 09 Silverado 2500HD. I have pulled some pretty massive loads with it but now I'm worried this might happen to me. I'm going to have to get under there and check out the hitch.

  • @sawsurgeon
    @sawsurgeon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Surprised to see how rusty that hitch/bumper is, especially considering how clean the rest of the truck is. Class V hitches are rated to 20k GTW and 2K tongue weight. The drawback is the 2 1/2” receiver. We run class IV and then I generally fab a link between the top of the receiver like your factory hitch had, just to give it a little more stability. That way we retain the 2” receiver. Seems like your truck should have been shipped from the factory with a better hitch on it. That was poor engineering on GM’s part, assuming it is the original. Blessings...WOOOOO!💪🏼🪓🌲🌳🦅🇺🇸

    • @OutsidewithScheib
      @OutsidewithScheib  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree I pulled the sticker from the original it’s rated for 7k and 1000 tongue weight. That’s not that great for a 1 ton not sure if it was factory or installed by the previous owner. I bought it in 2003 it had 8k on it. Either way I know I have towed a lot heavier than what I had on the other day. The cancer in the bumper finally let loose and well all I can say is it could have been worse.
