    Clovis passed away a few years ago from what I heard, not two weeks after the airing of this. he has a son whos active on TH-cam, I’d have to find his page for you guys.
    edit: my mistake, it was his son page. Clovis was 17 during this interview and passed away a few years ago from complications of diabetes.

    I was born in 1992 but prior to this 1988 news report in 1987 my uncle was murdered on Vermont and 74th or 76th Street. I see the elderly woman in this news report and see her as no different than my grandmother who went through the same thing as her with the loss of my uncle. It’s sad how common of a story this was in South Los Angeles during the 1980s and how so many of our families in South L.A. did not make it out of the 1980s unscathed from gun violence and/or drug addiction. Both of which affected family members of mines who grew up in South L.A. during this infamous era.

      @jermaineburgess3767 It's one of the main issues... Please, use the brain that God gave you and ask yourself how they ended up being the head of household, the FULL UNEDITED STORY. It takes two to create a single woman as head of household.
      I also notice that you eagerly and selectively skipped past the
      remarks about the love of drugs and money and the level of violence they're capable of. Imagine this coming from the folks who intentionally helped to manufacture this hell and you solely focus on the woman.
      Real ones offer solutions!

    These grannies and mommas be lyin to the public and themselves with that wrong place wrong time/he was a good boy BS. Just because you seen glimpses of a kind heart or thats what you want to believe about an individual, doesn’t trump the karmic debt of the lifestyle they lived. I’ve done lost homies to a certain lifestyle we lived and it’s hard to feel sad at times when we knew what we signed up for when we committed to it. Of course nobody wants go thru the heartache, but if a person passed due to a high risk lifestyle, all you can do is accept it. Those who are victims have to take accountability before hand if an unfortunate outcome happens.

    The question is, "Who created that atmosphere, and why?". Someone, or some think tank planned for the community to look like that. Who?
    Because it literally happened overnight. So who created the characters, the dresscode, the mindset, the rules and regulations for gangbangin?
    And dont tell me Raymomd and Tookie.
    Now, after you've found the anwers to those questions, tell me, are you a slave and or a sellout?

    • @ratswagger
      @ratswagger 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      We can point fingers, but at the end of the day our communities let it happen. We let them bamboozle us into embracing the gangster and thug culture.

    • @streetgangs
      @streetgangs  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      when they dropped Drugs into the black community during the late 1950 and early 1960s, all these problems started. These issues were nearly non-existent from the 1940s and prior.

    • @King_Kudjo
      @King_Kudjo 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ratswagger most definitely. BUT, my point is, the bamboozling didnt stop and wont stop. So what else are we falling for?
      Too many people confuse symptoms wit causes.

    • @ratswagger
      @ratswagger 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @King_Kudjo it will stop because now we're not ignorant of it. We can continue to encourage the building of black families, Black progress and separation of the thug culture.
      We're the only people where are women want to have kids with thugs. We don't encourage marriage, and our kids are out here looking up to gangbangers and ratchat rappers

  •  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +10

    All they had to do was move. I don't know why that never crosses their minds. Our people ran across whole states barefooted, starving, chased by bloodhounds and bounty hunters to escape oppression. But these people never think to leave to save their children's lives. They just stay and pray on the plantation. It pisses me off.

    • @kingof85
      @kingof85 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      No offense against anyone at the same time I've thought about this sooooooo many times its literally that simple it honestly makes me think they had to like it in some weird way cause it nobody just finna stay and just don't care and cry for decades and like you said our ancestors escaped thru many trials barefoot across state the whole 9 and somehow this particular generation just I guess gave up I always try to make sense of this and still haven't to this day my Mom would've got the heck outta dodge

    •  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@kingof85 I mean I look at it this way, these the descendants of slavery that don't even think about leaving. These aren't the people that ran to freedom. These aren't the people that Marched and got Dogs sicked on them. These are the people that benefitted from it. It make me sick that people in the Jordan Downs been there for 5 Generations you feel me? They need to make some drastic changes in
      Social Welfare programs to encourage people to move up and move on instead of getting comfortable and planting their feet firmly into Poverty. I Seen single mothers out here acting like homeowners on Section 8 tearing up people's property and getting a brand new house to tear up every other year. It's crazy.

    This is what living In a Republican ran economy was like back then, no help for those in need, high cost of living, no jobs for those who wanted to do better, This was part of the Make America Great Again culture for the wealthy, not the poor, I lived in this Era. Raised in the 80's grew up in the 90's.. Lack of education, no jobs, high inflation, produce mental health crisis, people tured to drugs, crack especially. voliance increased dramatically over the country, rasicism was high, police killings increased, stop & frisk, no knock warrants took off, police killing increased!! education was low, among the Spanish & African community, high school drop outs were high... kids weren't eating, so to make money the product needed to be sold, they wanted to eat..banging took off to survive, even though they really never survived, a hungry, lost uneducated mind is the worst, thing ever.. so remember The Republicans luv the uneducated people, so for all you MAGA people, this is what's going to happen, one thing for certain 2 things for sure, history luvs to repeat itself, because people luv to repeat history, go backwards instead of moving forward, corporations grew, they got wealthy, the people suffered. Open y'all eyes, wake up.. and to you'll recognize the game begin played.. people tend to forget but the info to remember is out there... im a Blood, & im a vote blue for a better nation for the people..

      there is less violent crime in LA. In 1987 / 1988 there were 800 - 900 murders. In LA last year there were less that 300. I would say huge difference.

    yall have had over 50 years to fix this and get rid of the gang culture, but instead you fully embraced it, modeled all your music, entertainment and ideals after it, All but destroyed any chance of building legacies for your children that dont involve death and destruction. And the main people you should be blaming (besides yourselves) are the same people that tell you they're the only ones on your side, and you have to keep voting for them to get help and opportunity they stole from you in the first place

    • @streetgangs
      @streetgangs  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      you cannot get rid of the gang culture until you get rid of the societal conditions that breeds gang culture. If you tap in and read the research you will learn a lot.
