Honestly, you gotta admire how they were able to pull off what they did with the NES version of Tournament Fighters.
Maybe with a bit more tweaking and not being hard as balls, it could've been better received.

Still waiting for a release date. I suppose Konami delayed the game so it doesn't come around the same time as shredder's revenge and mess with the sales, though I think most people would buy both of them anyways, so I don't really see the big deal. Anyways good video, I'm mainly buying this collection to play Turtles in time on SNES, which is one of the best Beat em ups that came in the 90's. I sure miss the days when Konami make awesome games.

I honestly feel if Konami didn't sneak in "Ultra Games" in its earlier years, we would never see these TMNT masterpieces. So glad they decided to do what they did, to bypass all the Nintendo mumbo jumbo, then Nintendo became more lax with the SNES for Konami.

That Dec 31, 2022 is not the release date, it’s a place holder date that they hate to give games when they decide the year to release. It basically just means that they are expecting to release it in 2022 but haven’t picked the date yet so the system just puts the last day of the year in its place at default

TMNT Tournament fighters is the best NES fighting game. It has the best collision detection and physics, the special moves are easy to pull off and it also has turbo mode. You can tell by the way you play that you have never played this before.

Turtles 2 on NES was the first game I ever finished, the soundtrack is still amazing and I look forward to playing it again, when this collection is on discount since 40 euros is too much for a nostalgia trip.
Especially since several games are sort of repeats and I don't care for the gameboy games at all.
I'd love to see them make a new tournament fighter since they made Shredder's revenge too.
There's a lot of potential for the roster in a turtles fighting game and somehow they tossed in characters for these fighting games that weren't even in the cartoon or comics of this time.
Could be cool to see Ninjara, Katmandu, Slash, Bebop, Rocksteady, Splinter, the frogs, fly Baxter and others on the roster.

Actually fighting games can work on the NES, look up Joy Mech Fight on the Famicom, it's actually a pretty solid fighter for an 8 bit game, and it's from the makers of Kirby, Hal Laboratories. I do own a majority of the games on this collection in their original forms, other than the arcade games of course, the NES version of Tournament Fighters (I kick myself for not buying it when I saw it years back for $10 locally, the price shot up on copies shortly after), and the third Game Boy game, which I have never spotted locally on my old game hunts, and is pretty expensive and has been for years.

The games I'm most likely to play from this collection would be TMNT1. I think it's fairly underrated, but it is hard kind of like most NES games. With a guide on how to beat it though it's not too difficult, without knowing what to do though it can be really frustrating unless you just do rewind, or save states instead of the old fashion way.
Turtles in Time is always a good time. TMNT Arcade is great too. My favorite fighting game on the SNES is TMNT Tournament Fighters. It just has the best gameplay to me, and is actually played in some tourneys still! I might actually be the most excited for this if I can play it online.
Side note, I'd place both Tournament Fighters for NES and Genesis in garbage tier. No reason to really play them. Though I will say your strategy of just jumping attack is better in the side scrolling beat em ups instead of those fighters. lol
As cool as TMNT 2 and 3 on the NES was back in the day. I don't think they are too fun to play now. They are kind of slow moving, and lack a lot of animation. And get tedius really quick imo. They may have overshadowed TMNT1 originally. But I think TMNT1 on the NES is a much more fun experience today.
Hyperstone Heist I never really played much of. But it always felt like a slightly worse Turtles in Time. Not a bad game though. Maybe I'd play it some time.
Gameboy games I have no idea. Never played any of them.

    • @Bloodreign1
      @Bloodreign1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Turtles 2 NES hasn't stood the test of time all that well, but I will tell you TMNT 3 on NES is an absolute blast to play, it had no arcade version to live up to, and if anything, that helped it in being unique.
The Game Boy games are pretty good, though a little slower paced.

I think to me, the 3 games that sell this collection to the younger fans who have yet to play this game are the 2 arcade games from 1989 and 1991 and the Hyperstone Heist on Genesis. The 2 arcade hits are evergreen and timeless and the SNES Turtles in Time is just the arcade game with 2 players while the Hyperstone Heist while there are similarities in level design and the like from Turtles in Time? @Bloodreign1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Turtles in Time SNES is a far different beast than it's arcade counterpart. I have played both many, many times, outside of some stages they don't quite play the same. You might be one of the few who are hyped for Hyperstone Heist, everyone else is geeked out for TiT SNES. Hyperstone Heist is good fun, but pales a bit in comparison compared to TiT. It feels like Konami just cobbled elements from other Turtles games, and threw them into Hyperstone Heist, nothing is original in it outside of Tatsu. The game's Boss Rush stage also feels like a cheap cash in just to add another stage to a game that lacks many stages, or much variety in them. The Boss Rush stage should've been scrapped, and maybe one or two more original levels should've been added in.

Shortly following that, I remembered going to a friend's house whose playing the SNES TMNT: Tournament Fighters game. A couple years later, I had the Xbox 360 port of TMNT 1 Arcade. I guess I ended up on the rarer side with Sega here. Obviously play TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist don't bother with TMNT: Tournament Fighters on the same console.

It's just weird that they would have the theme song removed. It would be like having mario bros collection and not allowing the main theme to be present. Like why would you even allow that to be an option? Many of the stages have songs that simliar to the main theme so do those get redone too? I feel like this choice is really going mar this collection of games.

I can play Turtles in Time over and over again. Definitely the best of the bunch. Hyperstone stone is fine, but the 5 long levels instead of 10+ definitely weakens it. Boss rush at the end was so "who cares." I never really understood why anyone would prefer HH. I've played them both and beaten the multiple times and i kept going back to 1 over the other. Really none of the games are bad at all.

Yeah the Genesis/Mega Drive version of TMNT Tournament Fighters is terrible vs the SNES version and it is a lot more difficult too. I would have rated the Genesis version of TMNT Tournament Fighters garbage as well because of how it looks graphically if you look at the HUD and then look at the HUD of the SNES version on top of the difficulty level of the Genesis version vs SNES. The GameBoy TMNT games are very interesting especially the 3rd game they made it similar to a Metroidvania type of game.

I can't argue with your ratings. Although I would bump the original TMNT on the NES up one tier. I think that is a pretty decent game overall. The enemy selection is pretty poor but the gameplay, music and fun factor I there I thought. Except for that damn water level haha. And I wouldn't say tournament fighters for the NES was garbage... Haha not that great but garbage is a little harsh considering some of the terrible games the NES put out.

TNMT TF for NES is way better than must people think of in a first impression. I disagree on that the nes shouldn't have any fighting game when we live in a world where Joy Mecha Fight is a thing. The Genesis version in the other hand is quite hard to say something positive about it.

I wonder why they weren’t able to get the theme song, because the newly released Shedders Revenge has it with Mike Patton singing.
