I agree, older bikes can still rip. All depends on the rider skill level/ability/confidence etc. I’ve enjoyed the group rides here.
Do you think that nail was your clinking sound? Or is it still making noises? Since you said it was upfront near the bars, does your bike have a steering damper? You mentioned the moving the bars being more difficult and what no so could be related!?

Stanksbeamen thanks for the suggestions! I found out tonight that I had a clip that holds my brake pads in was loose. I tightened it up and now it shouldn’t make any more racket. 😀
