I will play the GB games on NSO for streaming, but I did managed to grab a lot of 1st party titles on Nintendo 3DS eShop. (The GB Mario I do wanted to start streaming was Super Mario Land 1 before entering Super Mario Land 2 next, Super Mario Land 1 is one of my favorite GB games) But I wanted to save up Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for later since I feel like I wanted to wait on it since I do have the Sega Genesis Mini 1 which some of the titles are on SG NSO already and did manage to get some GBA games on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program while ago before Nintendo did announced the GB and GBA on NSO. But, I really wanted to try out The Binding Blade on GBA NSO later.
I want them to put Four Swords on the GBA service. Back in the day it came on the LttP cartridge, but finding friends with the game and link cable and everything wasn't always the easiest task. These days though it would be much easier to play online with friends, and I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who always wanted to play it and never got much of a chance.

Tbh I wouldn't have Tetris so high, for the same reasons you had Kirby lower down. It's a pretty dated version of Tetris that has been done better since. And since Tetris generally has the same gameplay per version, it just comes off as a less polished version today. I'd probably put Wario Land 3 on the top of the current GB games.

Tbh I played it quite a bit as a kid so playing again was like a muscle memory but I do recognize that I kept my rose colored glasses firmly on 😂. I will admit that as a kid I never successfully beat Kirby - I got stuck on the eye boss - yet I did it on my first try during my recent playthrough 😅. Much love for Kirby but it deserves its lower place on this list. For replayability Tetris maybe deserves #3.
For me the Minish cap is pure nostalgia. It was the first LoZelda game I ever played. I'll get the NSO expansion once a few more titles are added, but this one is definitely on my to-play list. 👀

Zelda 2 really deserves a remake, because it’s definitely a good game, but it’s held up worse than even the first Zelda game. But yeah Link’s Awakening, along with Oracle of Ages and Seasons, are the best GameBoy/Color games.
I've beaten every version of Link's Awakening at least once, multiple times for the OG and GBC versions. It's a solid game and playing it in it's original form is a worthwhile experience, even if you have the remake. The Wario Games are great too. It seems like an odd choice, however, that they released a bunch of sequels instead of originals. Wario Land 2 is a great starting point for the series. This version of Tetris is also pretty much the definitive version of Tetris and a blast to play. Even the multiplayer is fun.

The first thing I did when this launched was play through Super Mario Land 2 for the first time since I was a little kid and had a great time, not realizing how short and easy it was back then. I then took the time to unlock every Micro game in Warioware, surprised as how fewer there are compared to later entries in the series. I then got serious by playing through the entirety of Metroid 2 for the first time and then completed my 2nd playthrough of Minish Cap, the first since I played through it at launch in 2005. Thanks to this video, Wario Land 3 is next on my list to try, which I've never played before.
Felix, you outdone yourself! This is your best video so far! I played/own most of these games but I am quite happy for people that will play them for the first time, like Minish Cap!
F1 Racing, should have been here at launch. It's only redeeming feature is multiplayer. Metroid 2 deserves to be at least in the top 4. It was important middle ground between the original and Super. You don't need a map, and you could spoil it by looking it up online at this point. it's 3-4 hours long on your first play through, but you get the special ending if you complete the game under 2 hours. (On average it takes me 1 hour and 45 minutes, and I ran through the game on launch in just over that.) Gargoyle Quest has a few password saves that are fun to look up. FFFFFFFF to skip the first boss.
I know it's very unlikely but would absolutely love the bit.Generations GBA games released on the service. Dialhex in particular is absolutely incredible.
Word of warning for those who have European NSO. You should consider playing NTSC Minish Cap rather than PAL, as the game was rushed out in Europe in a state with some game breaking glitches that can ruin a file. Either that or look into these and avoid them manually if you want the language options. The PAL version also has one less Bomb bag (this was added in later versions) and some strange botched text in the English translation (not sure if the other languages have these issues).
Tetris beating out Link's Awakening (even by .01 or whatever) isn't really accurate since Link's Awakening already reclaimed the top spot on your website's top 50 Game Boy games, haha.
I love Super Mario Land 2, Mario Kart Advance and Zelda Minish Cap! So glad these games are finally on Switch even though I have the games for GB/A too but the Switch simply makes it more fun due to the much better screen.
My list: Worst to Best GB/GBC: Kirby's Dream Land, Metroid 2, Alone in the Dark, Link's Awakening, Wario Land 3, Game and Watch Gallery 3, Tetris, Gargoyle's Quest, Super Mario Land 2. GBA: Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart Super Circuit, WarioWare, Super Mario Advance 4, Minish Cap, M & L Superstar Saga. Superstar Saga being my personal favorite GBA game overall and they haven't added my personal favorite GB game Donkey Kong 94' or my favorite GBC game Pokemon Crystal.
Did they say Metroid II holds up better than the NES original??? Hell no. Don’t believe anyone who tells you that. The first one is far superior to the sequel.
I'd say my only gripe is that the GBA library is very lacking for me and I feel like I'll have to wait for quite a few months for games I want to play to get there
I really want to play the GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games on the Switch, but I think I'll wait until they add more games to the services, that or until Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass releases.
I’d swap minish cap and Mario advance 4. Those E-Reader levels are so amazing. Coupled with it being basically the best version of super Mario 3 as well, it’s a must play on this service.
Wario Land 3 is so freakin awesome. I played that game so much when I was like 7 or 8 and can’t believe how far I got with being so confused all the time 😂
I like that Game Boy games also include Game Boy Colour and that you have the option to switch between classic green, monochrome and colour displays. Would've been nice if they also included Super Game Boy enhancements for specific titles, but maybe in a update in the future perhaps? Also, I expected that both collections would be exclusive to the expansion pack, so seeing that only Game Boy Advance would require the expansion pack was quite a surprise. And I definitely think Tetris is a no brainer inclusion, made possible since the dispute with Ubisoft with the license had already been resolved ever since before this system even came out, because they ruined Tetris with their soulless adaptation on the 3DS. Glad I still have my original copy of Tetris Axis on 3DS, with no plans on giving it away!
Game & Watch Gallery 3 being as low as it is hurts me. That collection is underrated af and was the first (and so far only) game on Game Boy NSO I ended up beating (yes, you can technically "beat" Game & Watch Gallery 3).
Kuru Kuru Kururin and Wario Ware move up higher on the list. Personally I drop Super Mario Advanced 4 a bit. The mainly because as a newcomer into that title the game feels like I'm constantly running on ice floors and I feel a distinct lack of control over Mario. I know that's a me thing. Since GBA are the only ones I've played so far I'd go: 1) Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga* 2) Minish Cap* 3) Wario Ware Inc. 4) Kuru Kuru Kururin 5) Super Mario Advanced 4 6) Mario Kart Super Circuit *1 and 2 flipflop for me a lot.
I'm most excited for Mario & Luigi. I've never played a Mario & Luigi before, and now the first is coming to Switch! I've heard these games are ridiculous and over-the-top with the humor, and that sounds great! Plus, I love Paper Mario (including Sticker Star, what are you gonna do?), so this being derived from the same source Is a great thing for me.
They did Super Circuit dirty. 😭 I never liked the SNES game, but for some reason I just keep coming back to Super Circuit Kuru Kuru Kururin too, my favourite GBA game
1. Links awakening 2. Mario land 6 golden coins 3. Metroid 2 4. Tetris 5. Kirby’s dream land 6. Wario land 3 7. Gargoyles quest 8. Game and watch 9. Alone in the dark
The order of the GB/GBC games in the app works as an "official" ranking of these titles. I would just swap the Mario and Zelda titles and agree wholeheartedly.
I would personally go 1. Links awakening 2. Super Mario land 2: 6 gold coins 3. Tetris 4 Kirby’s dreamland 5. Gargoyle’s quest 6. Warioland 3 7. Metroid 2 8. G+W 9. Alone in the dark 1. Super Mario bros 3 (super Mario advance 4) 2. Minish cap 3 Mario +luigi superstar saga 4 wario ware inc 5 kuru kuru kururin 6 Mario kart super circuit
I've been playing Metroid Prime Remastered, but I think I'll play some of these soon. I've never played Minish Cap (it's one of my Zelda blind spots), so I'll do that soon.
I knew you'd start with Alone in the Dark, but it's still a fact that it was one of my favourite GBC games, I was surprised by the announcement of GBC on Switch, but much more with its inclusion. I instantly replayed it, just like what I expect will be the best GBC game on this list: Link's Awakening DX. Or SHOULD be unless you're undeniably WRONG.
I do give you props tho for putting the Minish Cap at the top of the list it's still pretty unforgivable though putting vanilla Tetris over a Zelda game.

My list: Worst to Best
GB/GBC: Kirby's Dream Land, Metroid 2, Alone in the Dark, Link's Awakening, Wario Land 3, Game and Watch Gallery 3, Tetris, Gargoyle's Quest, Super Mario Land 2.
GBA: Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart Super Circuit, WarioWare, Super Mario Advance 4, Minish Cap, M & L Superstar Saga. Superstar Saga being my personal favorite GBA game overall and they haven't added my personal favorite GB game Donkey Kong 94' or my favorite GBC game Pokemon Crystal.
How on earth can you class metroid 2 that low? It's a masterpiece
Did they say Metroid II holds up better than the NES original??? Hell no. Don’t believe anyone who tells you that. The first one is far superior to the sequel.
Like The Game Boy Filter Thing At The start. Creative!!!
I'd say my only gripe is that the GBA library is very lacking for me and I feel like I'll have to wait for quite a few months for games I want to play to get there
i’m sorry, but game & watch ahead of Metroid 2? uh…
I can’t believe Felix has been trapped in a Gameboy for his crimes.
5:54 Link's Awekening lol
I really want to play the GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games on the Switch, but I think I'll wait until they add more games to the services, that or until Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass releases.
I’d swap minish cap and Mario advance 4. Those E-Reader levels are so amazing. Coupled with it being basically the best version of super Mario 3 as well, it’s a must play on this service.
Wario Land 3 is so freakin awesome. I played that game so much when I was like 7 or 8 and can’t believe how far I got with being so confused all the time 😂
Man I hope they bring some obscure games like Medabots. I know the MMBN series are coming as a stand-alone release this summer, very excited for that
Felix did a great job with the GB effect, but ranking Metroid 2 so low.......shame NI......shame
Loved the gameboy filter, felix! Never change!
Great work on the list overall, but exceptionally great work on the game boy effect. That was fun and well done.
Alone in the Dark 4 was my gateway into survival horror, and while I admire its attempt on GBC it doesn't hold a candle to its console brethren.
I HAVE FURY! Great line from Superstar Saga! Also loved the Minish Cap.
_oh my god the game boy effect is in the whole video_
_felix you MADLAD_
Nice homage to the OG in the intro
Game & Watch Gallery 3 being as low as it is hurts me. That collection is underrated af and was the first (and so far only) game on Game Boy NSO I ended up beating (yes, you can technically "beat" Game & Watch Gallery 3).
Everyone involved in creating this episode did a marvellous job. Thank you!
Since GBA are the only ones I've played so far I'd go:
1) Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga*
2) Minish Cap*
3) Wario Ware Inc.
4) Kuru Kuru Kururin
5) Super Mario Advanced 4
6) Mario Kart Super Circuit
*1 and 2 flipflop for me a lot.
I never liked the SNES game, but for some reason I just keep coming back to Super Circuit
Kuru Kuru Kururin too, my favourite GBA game
“[The Minish Cap] was a brilliantly bite sized adventure to *cap* off this list” - I see what you did there! 11:59
Nice with the Mario Kart DS music! 😎
1. Links awakening
2. Mario land 6 golden coins
3. Metroid 2
4. Tetris
5. Kirby’s dream land
6. Wario land 3
7. Gargoyles quest
8. Game and watch
9. Alone in the dark
As far as I can remember, M+L Superstar Saga is the first turn based rpg that has come to Nintendo Switch Online, the retro package I mean.
Ooh I love the filters!
I wish they added Virtual Boy games someday hopefully
If Metroid Fusion were on the list, it be #1 for me.
The order of the GB/GBC games in the app works as an "official" ranking of these titles. I would just swap the Mario and Zelda titles and agree wholeheartedly.
If can't easily buy the games without the subscription, than I'm not interested... Period.
Watch Nintendo drop Mother 3 in 3 years from now like they always do. By then switch Pro 2 would have been announced
I would personally go
1. Links awakening
2. Super Mario land 2: 6 gold coins
3. Tetris
4 Kirby’s dreamland
5. Gargoyle’s quest
6. Warioland 3
7. Metroid 2
8. G+W
9. Alone in the dark
1. Super Mario bros 3 (super Mario advance 4)
2. Minish cap
3 Mario +luigi superstar saga
4 wario ware inc
5 kuru kuru kururin
6 Mario kart super circuit
I've been playing Metroid Prime Remastered, but I think I'll play some of these soon. I've never played Minish Cap (it's one of my Zelda blind spots), so I'll do that soon.
No, AM2R is the best way to experience Metroid 2
Agreed, but that is not an official Nintendo product so he can't talk about it.
Super Circuit looking worse than the SNES one? Come on!!
Kirby should be higher. I've played through that game at least 20 times since I got it in 1992, it never gets old
Nintendo in 2019: Here’s a new reconstruction of Link’s Awakening so new generations can experience it for the first time, while older gamers can re-experience its magic
Nintendo in 2023: *Wanna play it again?*
Game and watch gallery is amazing
I'd love to see the sonic advance trilogy
SAME!!
Metroid 2 ignited my love of the franchise and informed my perception of what a Metroid game should feel like. I'd put it number one on my personal list. The remake doesn't even come close to the original.
