It should be no surprise to any of you by now that last year Mat bought his very own Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
However, over the years of reviewing cars at Carwow, he’s had the chance to get his hands on a whole load of other incredible performance cars. With that in mind, he’s wondering whether he made a mistake in choosing the GT3 RS!
In this video he’s going to put his all-new Porsche to the test, comparing it to a whole host of track-focused supercars. In this line-up we have the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, Corvette Z06, McLaren 765LT, Nissan GT-R NISMO, and of course, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ!
The question is, which will come out on top? Will Mat realise picking the GT3 RS was the best choice, or will he decide another car was the better option? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

The ironic thing about all these track focused cars is that most owners won't go anywhere near a track in them. Probably just cruising round London at 20mph instead.

Umm don't be so sure. When you purchase these type of cars the dealerships usually have annual track days and invite their clients. So they occasionally see the track.
The C8 z06 holds up pretty well despite being the cheapest out of the bunch , can't wait for the C8 ZR1 to come out

@@gtuttle4 wrong tire pressure. you run 24psi in the cup 2 r tires or the tire beads up to improve wet driving traction in normal driving conditions. 24psi flattens the contact patch for peak grip in dry conditions

So many TH-cam snubs don’t know how to correctly do launch control on a C8. You put it in Track Mode, press the Traction Control button twice until the gauge screen says performance. Problem solved.

Carwow in general really started to do the "Lets reuse old Content because of Views" as well as go the "Clickbait Title" and "Clickbait Thumbnail" Route of TH-cam Car Content the past few Months.
Luckily the Content itself is not a 29 minute Vlog with 1 Minute Content about the Car like you see from Hoovies Garage and the other Clickbait Car TH-camrs.

I believe you'd have to take into consideration performance, reliability, and ease/cost of maintenance. I'd choose the Nissan GTR over the others, but the Porsche GT3 RS in close second.

In Norway you can now literally walk into a Porsche dealer and order a brand new gt3/gt3rs without any substantial customer relationships for sticker price. Prices are about to drop....

GTR is still my favorite
Corvette now has the best sounding flat plane on the market. The shifts in the Lambo are so quick and hard. The McLaren is a freaking rocket! The Porsche is just a piece of art...beautiful body lines, quick off the line, but a straight screamer through the corners.
The porsche looks like a ten year old designed it 🤣 it drives phenomenally but it looks like total crap
Don't hate the Corvette because it can go top up or top down. It can also do what the other cars can do without having to delete half the car to do it. You can still daily drive the Corvette or even take it to the supermarket or go on a cross-country and arrive with your spine still connected thanks to MagneRide. You even have a place to put your groceries or a suitcase.
Last but not least, it can keep up with the others at half the price and with all the creature comforts already included. Imagine what GM could do if it had those European budgets.

A US spec C8 Z06 COUPE with the Z07 package and carbon fiber wheels should get 2.8 to 3.3 seconds for 0-60 times without rollout.

Matt can't launch the Z06 properly. Other people have had no issue getting 2.6-2.8 seconds. Should have let the owner launch it.
I love the AMG GT that thing is the best looking car ever made, it has an amazing engine and all round just feels and looks amazing.
I feel the same way about the sls.
Z06 is never tested with the Z07 package, Hagerty made a video on track and its about .6 seconds slower than a GT3RS plus they where able to put a 2.6 0-60 and a 10.5 1/4 mile. Love the content, but they always do the z06 dirty imo

Yes, the title of the video was clickbate, but I gave in and am glad that I did that. Whatever the car that was being shown at the time made my vicariously want it. However, I felt the strongest desire to own it was the 993 GTS. It has all of the right stuff with regard to being able to tailor it as you drive along the roads/racetracks. As much as I like the screaming sound of the Aventador, the sound from the Porsche when being driven reasonably hard was mesmerizing to me. One of the things that I like about the 911 is that it is tidy and not bulky as some of the other cars: it inspires confidence knowing your car's perimeter and driving within it. I have a 2010 Panamera S (loaded) that I will NOT SELL. Thanks so much!

i have owned a few benz. check engine lights galore, not enjoyable. these were relatively young vehicles still under warranty. so yeah, one can go wrong with a Mercedes. had an amg-gt and a G wagon. never again will i buy a benz
Nice video. I do miss the GT2RS a little bit though. Especially if you look at the power figures from the other cars. But the GT3RS is still an impressive car and I think you made a really really good choice there.
The Vette and any other super car with a removable roof, needs to have its roof ON to get the best possible run. Otherwise you’re just adding a lot of drag and you lose about 1 second off the 0-60, therefore you gain at least that in the 1/4 mile. Make sense @carwow ?

My favorites SVJ, NISMO, 765 and Corvette Zo6. The daddy is the GT3RS. Carwow really can cheer us up

I personally agree with Mat. The GT3RS is definitely the most "sensible" option here. Me personally though I would look hard at the C8 Z06. For the price, it offers some insane things (nearly under 200K).
That's if you can get your hands on one.
It also offers transmission leaks and major reliability issues
But the least fun to drive

@@gigachad6162Every new car has growing pains, but it's not a widespread issue. Most of these other cars will experience more issues than the Z06 and several of them have been subject to issues and recalls already, such as the Aventador and GTR. People like to talk trash about Corvette because it beats up on all of the overpriced competitors. But the truth is on average they are far more reliable than exotics and cheaper to fix.

The GTR has been milked to death. The price has gone up despite the fact that a lot has been produced since 2009 and it still uses the unrefined six speed transmission.
If I had to choose myself, I'd like the 765.

I would unironically go for the NISMO GT-R or the ZO6, I have nowhere near the skills to drive most of these cars as they're meant to be driven. I feel like these 2 would be the more forgiving and practical, as well as the availability of dealership networks etc.
The z06 didn’t do great in the 0-60, but when you figure it’s running the same quarter as a ford get that’s costing 800k+ over the vette, that’s not too bad. And once the ecu and tcu is able to be cracked and tuned, I have a feeling that procharged and supercharged z’s are going to be insane. I personally feel like unless you’re a collector, the Nismo gtr is overrated and overpriced. A small power jump and a bunch of nismo parts don’t seem like they are worth how much more expensive this car is. Especially after mark up. You can build a normal gtr to look and perform much better for the extra spent in the nismo trim. I’d still an R33 gtr before any other gen though. I’m a 90s fan boy after all.
Gtr is 2.8 without rollout 2.5 with rollout. Cars in US include 1ft rollout when testing.
Without rollout the C8 Z06's best time I could find is 2.8 seconds, but that's on the cup 2R tires and a pretty smooth surface. Additionally, it seems like a very difficult car to launch, even with the adjustable launch control no one seems to figure out. Traction is a bigger problem that I'd have hoped with the mid-engine switch, (I've seen as low as 2.2 0-60 10.2 quarter on a prepped drag strip) so hopefully the ZR1 makes some improvements there
Measuring 0-60 with rollout is like Measuring penis with spine.
We have to give respects to the gtr nismo. Least powerful car (apart from gt3 rs), over 10 years old construction and it still managed sub-3 seconds time.

SVJ for me all day it looks, sounds and goes like a super car it is, then the 765 then the gt3rs. To be honest the reason I'd pick the lambo and the mclaren first is because most owners don't take these cars to the track only car journalists and also the more you drive these cars the more they loose value so these cars are just a once off occasion car otherwise they are just trophies so if I am gonna drive a super once a month I'll want to feel the gear changes on my back
I love how the other cars were launched on a track and you launched the Z06 on a street surface. Come on, guys. There’s an obvious bias here. If you want to get real measurements, get the cars together at the same track and let them all launch on the same surface.

Two cars that stand out for me form these reviews are McLaren and the Z06.
You didn’t active zo6 launch control system😂, you need to press tsc button twice, the dashboard will shows competitive mode and tsc esp lights are on. Thats the correct way to launch corvette.

Getting at GT3 RS is probably never a bad decision. I’d love to have one but getting an allocation in the US is impossible without an extensive prior Porsche portfolio. I only have a Carrera 4 so it’s off the table for me. I got a C8 Z06 allocation last week after waiting a year or so. That’s without ever owning a prior Chevy let alone a Corvette. I don’t think I’ll be too disappointed with the Vette, especially at 40% the price of the 911.
I have a 23 Z06, you will love it! I don't know what went on here but the Z is a lot faster 0-60 etc than they showed. And I paid $150k inc tax for Z06 HTC 3LZ in Red Mist, and if set in tour or weather mode it won't rattle your fillings out like the GT3 or especially the GT3RS which have no suspension modes. Ferrari licensed the adjustable suspension from GM,I'll take my Z over the Porsche anytime.
I thought you was going to do some track times? Those would have been very interesting, it would have been a toss up between the 76tlt, Gt3 and Black series, with the nismo coming in 4th then the SVJ and the ZO6 coming in last bur still competitive I think, the last 2 definitely sound the best with the Gt3 after that then the 76tlt and the Black S and nismo don't sound good at all (for a performance car that is) so if we forget money for a minute and we just choose the best performance car that looks the best with all the extra mods then it's very close between the 765LT and the GT3 RS, the Mclaren does need a good spec though as some bright colours don't suit the car where as the GT3 looks good in any spec, but if I had to choose it would be the 765LT...
He conveniently forgets to mention the euro version of the Z06 has about 40 less hp than the US version on top of the fact he ran the
Z06 instead of the Z06 w Z07 pkg. So to say that his Z wasn't as quick while running a lot less hp is a joke. Why not twin turbo a Z07 then run it against the others which were running turbo'd versions and the Porsche which is always underrated for stated power just like BMW does. Everyone always say Porsches over perform when actually they are underrated by the company for hp and torque.
All GT3 RS cars will go up in value, so even if it is behind on performance, u can still get another car without losing any money.
2025, i strongly belive that GT3RS maybe would be as expensive as 2008 Citroen C4 WRC car. $850.000.

@@sillimilli3802 if you have the money to buy such cars, you won't be thinking about making money off of it or recoup the money.
If you don't have such money, you should buy something less expensive because they are not good cars to drive and have no booth capacity (the Porsche literally can't fit a small bag).
You just end up paying a ton for insurance and gas.
If it's your dream car, looking at how much money you can get when reselling it makes no sense.
Between all those, there are better alternatives for how fast it goes, how comfortable it is and how much money you can get when reselling it.
So by any of those standards, the Porsche is NOT the best option.

I honestly think at that level, the numbers and raw performance become largely irrelevant. They’re all going to be blisteringly fast, and very exciting. So it really is a case of whichever you like the most.

All depends on use. Trackdays and the odd day out on nice roads RS is hard to beat. Lack of storage space limits use for longer trips though. GT Black series would be my choice. Monster on track and also great for longer road trips.
I'm confused I've launched my 2022 vette Stingray and got a 0-60 of 3.2 seconds I would imagine a Z06 should be able to beat that easy I think there maybe some user error
So the stingray does quarter mile in 11.1 and the zl does quarter mile in 10.5.
0 to 60 stingray does 3.0 the zl does 0 to 60 in 2.6. My bmw m5 does 0 to 60 in 2.7 and quarter mile in 10.4. The m5 is all about setting management. The corvette is usually only one car length behind me but is rallies way better than my bmw m5
AMG GT Black Series is likely the only car worth choosing over the GT3 RS

You didn’t launch the Z06 correctly. You need to double press the “Z” on the steering wheel twice to enter “Z Mode” minus traction control. I personally have done 2.8 seconds 0-60 on a city road.
765Lt is the best car there, for value its the SVJ. I've never seen a car double in value as quick as the SVJ has

Put the z06 on a prepped surface with the roof ON and use launch control properly and you’ll easily get a 2.6-8 second 0-60 time. Pretty bias to the z06.

Base C8 with 495hp many times lunch better than C8 Z06 with 670hp. I also have seen a TH-camr in a base C8 doing 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds
I wish all the cars 0-60 tests were on the same surface. You have been better using previous tests than those open road tests for some cars. I regularly get less than 3.3 0-60 without launch control on poor open-road surfaces with my Z06. Other cars in this video also suffered from this comparison.
To improve your launch you have to pre-warm your tires. This way, they grip better and don't slip.
