    Did you create a video about how to do a baffle ceiling with curvature?

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Kathryn. Unfortunately I have yet to have the opportunity to make that video, but in short I would model a mass to represent the curvature of the full ceiling that you wish to show and assign a material. Then use void masses in even intervals to cut out the desired spaces between the baffles. Hope this helps while awaiting my upload on this topic.

    Hi, i can see it in my perspective view but i cant see it in my ceiling plan view even when i clicked visible in view. I tried checking the visibily/graphics but theres no beam system there.

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Farah - my apologies I only got to this now. Just to ask hte following questions as a sanity check - Do you have phases in your project (could beam system be on a different phase/phase filter than the view)?
      Do you have it hidden in view? (Press "RH ro Reveal Hidden elements to see if the beam system/beams are hidden in the view specific).
      Do you have worksets in your project, and if so is the beam system assigned to a workset with its visibility off?
      Do you have the view set to any discipline Bias? IF you change it too "Coodination View" does it become visible?

      Farah, if Niall's suggestions don't work, try changing the detail level to fine (for some reason beams are often set to only show at fine), and adjust the view range as needed!

      @@gduteaud this is a great suggestion. Thanks for helping out Guillaume 👍

    Hi, I was able to follow along and applied this to my RCP but then could not get it to show up, I see it in a perspective view of the space, and saw it when I showed the “hidden” elements, but was not able to select it as the “unhide” option would not let me click it- I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to fix this so it was visible? Thanks!

      Hi Amanda. There may be a number of reasons why it is not presenting in your view.
      Try the following in sequential order:
      1) Make sure Structural Framing and Beam Systems both have their visibility turned on in the model category of the Visibility Graphics menu. If you have a view template assigned to the RCP you will have to do change this setting within the template itself.
      2) Select the elements in the Hidden Items view (press RH to Reveal Hidden) and see if you can select them and "unhide by element"
      3) The view type may be set to Architectural - try change it to "Coordination" and see if the structural members show.
      4) There may be view filters controlling the presentation of certain element types. Look at the Visibility Graphics menu to confirm that there are no filters changing the view presentation.
      5) Finally, if the model is workshared you may have a the Baffle ceiling assigned to a workset that has its visibility turned off.
      Hope the above proves helpful. Please respond if one of the above does not resolve the issue or if you have any other questions.

    Can i apply this to achieve an organic baffle ceiling ?

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dareen. Yes, this technically can be used for an organic ceiling but is likely more work than is merited. I would consider a model in place mass to create one consistent solid organic shape which you apply the baffle material to. Then, I would use an array of voids to break up the solid organic form and create the spacings required. Hope this helps.

    How else can I bring up the beam catalog without typing BM?

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hayley - you can bring up the Beam Tool by going to the Structure Tab - Beam.
      If you need to bring in a new beam family from the beam content libraries this can be achieved by going to the Insert Tab - Load Family and navigating to the required beams family from there.
      Hope this helps!

      I cannot answer that for you I am afraid Arnel, depends completely on your location, Subcontractor quality etc. You will have to price it relative to your region.
