Not to mention the intimidating shape of Crown Vics. Now it has changed into soulless Explorers with lame engine sound. I wish Chargers took over Explorers as the main squad car since they are loud
Amazing Compilation! Did you know LAPD Central Division still have a 2000 Crown Victoria, MX7000, Unitrol Omega 90, no Honeycomb Grille (The 99-00' Grille style) and with steelies! Fun fact: The Honey Combe Grille was introduced in 2001. Crazy to believe LAPD are still keeping 23* year old vehicles in the fleet! I really hope that Crown Victoria ends up in a Museum, and not some Government Auction, to then be later bought and sit in yard, slowly rotting for the rest of it's life. I love the old MX700's, The old steady burn's (My favourite clip of the video, 1:39) And the new FPIU's are just something else, the LAPD have done an amazing job of decking them out, and there defiantly a beauty!
I like how the LAPD keeps it simple. I'm not from the US but as I could see by living there as a student, it seems that many police forces use a plethora of lighting and LEDs ( NYPD for instance) that sometimes make the cars look like " Christmas trees" ( Absolutely no offense, I totally support law enforcement and first responders). In my Opinion, LAPD equipped their cars with very efficient and adequate lighting that gives them a very appreciated old school style. We use similar equipment too in Europe
Glad to see the are using the Pathfinder and the FSJoin to sync the rear useless interior bar and the lightbar together. My OCD always killed me when the signalmaster was not synced with the bar.
The CV about 37-38 seconds in.... never should've been operated as an emergency vehicle... that single steady burn light Front & rear, was ridiculously & pathetically unsafe to be navigating traffic... EPIC FIAL. The second Explorer to round the corner @3:33 didn't even have it's headlights on at night, just the code lights...
0:37 is there an explanation why this car only shows a red non-flashing light? I'm not from the US and here in the Netherlands they sometimes use green lights to indicate they are "leader" of a crime scene for example. Or is this just usual that it's not flashing?
The Ford Explorer police utility is one of the ugliest vehicles to come out of the Ford styling department. It may be functional and reliable, but its hard to look at without cringing. My vote still goes to the Crown Victoria.
