  • This video shows you how I repaired a 2006 to 2012 Toyota Yaris climate control. This Yaris's climate control was not allowing you to change recirculate air to the outside air because the clip popped off on the backside. This video will show you how I accessed the climate control and fixed it. I am in no way shape or form responsible for any of your repairs or if you hurt yourself for others repairing this. This job requires absolutely no tools other than your hands. Please like share and subscribe!

I had to go looking for the mechanism though, it had dropped right off, found it with the help of a torch. It just clipped back on perfectly. Thank you so much. Terry.

    Thanks to you I fixed my wife's Yairis in 5 minutes. The assembly that pops off creating the problem seems to happen in the winter when the climate control door deep in the dash stiffens up. If the control knob won't rotate don't force it! You can remove the left trim strip, slip your fingers behind the assembly, hold it in place while rotating the knob till the control door loosens up. Whew!
    Thanks again.

      Happy to help! Chances are the flap that controls where the air blows behind the dash is getting stuck it's pretty common and will cause the cable to stretch. It is not a super fun or easy repair to fix correctly unfortunately. I always tell people if you can get it to blow through the vent you prefer get it there and leave it there until winter hits and you can move the cable to get it to defrost. Good luck on your project! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel.

      Hi there chances are your blend door selector cable may be stretched it's pretty common on these cars. In my opinion it's not worth fixing because the job is pretty involved. When you take your climate control apart you may be able to see the stretched cable and actually be able to pull it one way or the other in order to adjust where the air is coming out of. I hope this helps! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel!

    So, my selector knob (2005 Yaris) seemed to be binding and then when I pushed it a little it seemed to break free and now the knob is completely loose and only blows on my feet and face. Did I break something inside? Or, will what you did in this video fix this? Thank you so much for this video.

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's hard to tell without taking it apart. If I had to guess I would say something is binding inside your blend door. Once you take it apart if you can't move the little arm that changes the location as to where it is blowing by hand then your cable is binding for some reason. Good luck on your project! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel I really appreciate it!

    Hi! First of all thanks for the video. My issue is that, the door in the blower unit, that this cable moves, sticks sometimes when the switch is looking to the open position, and I want to move it to the close position. If I force it too much, the piece just flies off and and I have to disassemble the panel to put it back in. Do you know what is the cause of the door sticking in, and how to fix it?

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to help! Chances are your cable is stretched, it's a pretty common issue. You can replace them but honestly it's not a fun job. You can take the cable the pops into the climate control apart and pull the wire one way or the other to get the door to move. It's not ideal but it beats replacing the cable all together.

      Unfortunately that is the blend door control, I'm assuming yours is binding/won't move and to repair it properly you need to replace the cable that controls it. I'll be honest it's not a fun or easy job to do. The other option is to grab the cable and pull on the thin wire to manually control where the air is being blown, not ideal but it will get the job done.

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic

      The cable itself will need to be replaced. It's a pain in the butt to do. You should be able to pull the wire one way or the other and get that flap behind the dash to move where you want the air to come out (face, face and feet, feet, defrost) but it will be stuck on that until you pull the wire again to change it. IMO if you want it on your face during the summer I'd leave it on that then when winter comes you can change it to defrost. The cable is just a pain to replace and is not something I'd recommend replacing on your own unless you are mechanically inclined and patient.

      Hi does your radio look like the one in the video or is it silver?

      It is silver. I unscrewed the 4 holding the radio and got the panel off. Thanks! When I went to re-set the white plastic, the black handle would not turn and the black tabs do not line up with the correct size spaces on the white plastic

      @@whiskeygirl885 Glad you were able to figure it out! For some reason the sedan radio layout is different than the radio layout on the hatchback. If you are unable to get the cables to move manually chances are you have something binding behind the dash.

    Having issues with the ac turning on at all. Maybe the switch needs to be replaced. Turns on when it wants to pretty much. Turn and turn back and forth until it finally turns on..

      I would recommend checking your relays. To me that kind of sounds like a lazy relay and may just need to be replaced.
