- #monorail #mumbaimonorail #mmrda #fullhd World's 3rd largest monorail network. Phase 2 was inaugurated in 2019 and it connects Jacob Circle, Parel to Wadala. Phase 1 connected Wadala to Chembur. The 20 km route is India's first monorail system. Its a 4 coach train and the entire 17 station route has been built at a cost of 3000 crore. The MMRDA plans to operate 120 services with 7 trains. I made a vlog about my first time on this unique mode of transport which has been aimed at reducing traffic and connecting distant parts of the city with the primary network of trains, buses and metro. School kids, parents, college boys and girls were primarily eager to experience it, the day it launched. 23,000 traveled on the second day of inauguration, revenue of 4 lakh. I reached the Ambedkar Nagar monorail station near Haffkine institute, at the back side of KEM hospital in Parel in the afternoon. The ticket to Chembur costed me 30 Rs. The security here is quite good, their attire seemed quite similar to the CRPF jawans/soldiers. They were quite helpful in guiding me and instructing other passenger about safety and directions. I boarded the train in and was pleasantly surprised with the interior of the train, it was clean and futuristic. The doors were automatic and the train was full air-conditioned which made it very easy and comfortable to travel in the sweltering heat of Mumbai, it will be of great help to a Mumbiker in the summer season. Now coming to the main part, the scenes and sights of Mumbai! Yes, this was the best part as I got to see Mumbai from point of view that was never seen before for over 25 years of my life! I saw such beautiful and diverse landscapes that for a second I could not believe that this was Mumbai, it really looks so new and different from above. I also saw a great deal of economic disparity, houses of the poor and sky scrapers of the rich. There were beautiful lawns, gardens and golf courses, luxury buildings as well as dumping grounds, industries, truck stations and slums which seemed poles apart from each other but existed in such a unique kind of harmony that it was amazing to see it from such a new perspective. After I crossed Wadala, I suddenly realised that there was so much open land in Mumbai! Acres of land which has not yet been used for housing projects or entertainment purposes. However I think that it is owned by the Reliance group, headed by Mukesh Ambani. If not all, most of it is owned by the petroleum Jio Billionaire who plans to make this one of the best ports in the World in future! As I reached Chembur I was satisfied with my first time experience and sure do hope to visit again soon. Overall I feel India is well on its way to beat China and Japan when it comes to trains and other allied modes of transport. Hope you enjoyed watching the video. Thirty years ago I first visited Mumbai and the last time was about 10 years. Mumbai's being developed pretty well. Monorail is good public transportation. I like it. The residents must help to develop the city by making Mumbai clean and livable. My country still has problems with some ignorant people dumping garbage in public as well. These people have no sense or not aware of social responsibility. Everyone needs to help to continue tackling this problem. Love from Thailand.
Wow Thailand, I would love to visit Thailand some day. Most of my friends have visited and they enjoyed their stay. About Mumbai, yeah its changing very fast since the last couple of years and right now there is massive work going on in almost every nook and corner of the city. There is metro train infrastructure that is being laid down in really busy sections of the city. Monorail infrastructure for less busy places and industrial zones. New International and domestic airports. They are also planning a sea port. The slums have also received massive bids for big residential projects. Its just chaos here right now because of the amount of work going on. By 2030 this place would be unrecognizable than what it was in 2019.

Yeah ...I admit that the monorail adds a different taste in the diversity of transportation ... It's fancy , environment friendly and sophisticated ...but you can check bro it is slower than the metro or even tram system ...

One of the worst looking thing about India are the unpainted buildings and houses everywhere in india.
Colorful buildings would look cool, I don't understand why builders paint buildings with the same shades everywhere. Maybe they are uncomfortable and unwilling to go too adventurous or maybe they just want to cut corners and save money. I would like to see something like the blue city of Jaipur in every city.

Yeah its rapidly changing but it almost feels as we are living in the wrong time because the future generations are the ones who will benefit the most as right now all the major projects are in the construction phase, roads are dug up, etcm..by 2025 we will get to see the actual completion of all projects

In a densely populated cities, monorail will ba a life saver.
Yes, it's great from a future perspective because the roads are going to be congested as more and more people will be buying vehicles..
Mumbai, despite being the highest tax payer, and most wealthy people, the buildings have no re-colour. Once the original colour has gone, no society has maintained it. The building look rusted. Also there is ton of dirt and filth everywhere. Even Nasik, Pune, Nagpur, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Navi Mumbai are better in those respects.
Maintenance costs are very high and as far as painting is concerned, Mumbai receives a lot of rainfall and lots of humidity all year round since its very close to the coast. Apart from this, most of the buildings which have no color or traces of color are under the Government, I mean Government residential properties for people working in the public sector. These are known as government colonies. Also most of the buildings in places like Navi Mumbai are relatively new whereas in Mumbai most of the buildings have been around for many decades.However you will not see the issue of paint on the upcoming mega projects in the city which involve eithe demolition of decrepit structures or redeveloping them. Its something which will take time but the end result would be amazing.
@@SwapyBond Rainfall and humidity is on all coastal cities in India. The problem may be societies/residents not willing to spend on repainting as newer exterior paints are all weather proof.

Mumbai monorail has been failure but Mumbai metro is super hit.
Actually its not a failure as lots of people are using it now, it mainly connects places where the public transport is very less and places which are secluded or unsafe to travel on.

No comment on the speed?? is it comparable to metro?? what about the jerks and noise inside the cabin?? I know you mentioned about the acute turns and the excellent Air con.. At 5:24 and again at 5:37 you see a lot of precast components stacked? What are they? Are they the lining of the underground Metro 3 tunnels?
Its not as fast as the Mumbai metro but it can definitely go fast. However as there are many twists and turns along the way, so they maintain a safe speed. It speeds up after crossing Wadala Bridge. Yes there is quite a bit of noise inside the cabin and jerks too. Metro is smoother in that respect. However metro mostly goes in straight line and so they are able to speed up. Lastly, yes those stacks that you see are used in the construction of bridges and underground tunnels, so even used in the ongoing metro infrastructure construction.
It is said that it wasn't successfull, but there r so many people travelling through this.....
That's because many people fail to understand that this is part of a long term objective. Soon it will be extended too.

Thanks. Well they have other big plans for Mumbai Central and presently construction work is going on there for the metro. The monorail most likely will be extended till Ghatkopar. It was built taking into consideration future use because it follows a sea port route. Also do check out the Mumbai to Alibaug RoRo video, that is something which is the future for Mumbai in terms of water transport.

Its is serving the purpose it was built for as of now which is to connect areas which are secluded and have less public transport. Well in future they are going to extend it till Ghatkopar I think.

Lovely coverage, I used to stay near the Dean's Bungalow when I was small, still feel nostalgic about that place. Opposite is the Haffkine Institute, thanks for sharing. Lots of changes
Oh that's nice. Yeah its a nice place, lots of trees and relatively quiet compared to other parts. The Haffkine Institute also is one of those few place with lots of greenery. Its a good place for a station since its behind KEM hospital, there are a number of hospitals in this area so in future if they plan to extend the route, it will prove more beneficial to patients, their relatives and also locals. Its a value for money kind of transport😊

Wonderful to elevate transport above a congested city must be amazing 4 the residence of Mumbai but Half an hour's probably too long to wait for transport possibly they cannot accommodate many of these trains on the track due to power limitations
They are going to double the number of trains and increase the number of daily trips to 120, so the waiting time will be around 10 minutes. I had gone when it had just started, so probably because of that they were not in that regular mode.

They have added 2 as of now, one in March and another by the end of April. So that will reduce waiting time to 15 minutes. Gradually they will add the remaining this year hopefully.
What I hate about the Mumbai monorail is that the platform is not barricaded with automatic doors.

For the full journey from start to end its Rs 40. That's the maximum cost. Ticket rates are fixed at Rs 10, 20, 30 and 40.

Good question, well I think the metro is a smoother travel experience compared to the monorail. The monorail looks like a smooth ride but when you actually sit inside it the shakiness is quite surprising. So in terms of comfort I think metro is good.

@@premjitkisan1219 yes correct and also I don't think metro failed anytime during its trial period or the later months of its operation. The monorail had faced many issues in the past but they now seem to have been rectified.
Metro is certainly better but if there is not any option of metro in that locality than monorail is obviously a better option than a local train as it has air conditioned coaches

Whats its operating speed?
The average speed is 60 kmph. Top speed is around 80kmph, it reaches top speed after Wadala bridge, you can notice it once the music stops somewhere in the middle of the video where you see open areas.

Half an hour is a very very long time and I hope the frequency would increase so that the wait period will come down to less than 10 mins if the demand is high.
Yes they are going to increase the number of trains. I had gone 2 days after it launched so maybe they were not in that regular kind of schedule. However it will come down to 5-10 mins soon as they are going to do 120 trips daily with 7 trains
