Very sad state of affairs, I was born in Camden, London, in 1965, and from the age of around 8 years on; would hand catch sticklebacks out of the regents canal with friends. And so my love of fishing began. I fished over the years of my youth practically every river, canal, stream, lake, and reservoir in London and the greater London area, up until I joined the Army at 19; all of the forgotten rivers, even Thames waters new river (Great for Pike). Anyway, decades later I revisited Camden's Regents canal, and found it to be completely modernised with trendy estates and no fishing sings everywhere. Interestingly, I observed that Sticklebacks no longer exist in these waters. It is such a shame that whole new generations have and are being denied access to nature, curiosity, and the ability to learn the importance of conservation for themselves in these trendy city environments.
The gobby geezer didn't like having his picture taken , now he has starred on you tube and everybody knows hes a prat . Let's see some fish H L i love the wild fishing action

The householder really would benefit from a smack in the kisser. I don’t regret selling up and leaving London 20 years ago. Part of the reason I did it was so I could fish the southwestern rivers for sea trout. RIP London.
Glad I ain’t the only one man I love my country I really do and I love the people from the very tips of the north to the very edges of the south who cherish our beloved land bless you all❤️
Well done for keeping your patience and treating those objectors with civility. It's a shame that anyone who lives near a body of water or next to a canal believes they have a right to control access to it. It's strted happening at my local dock, housing has gone up and residents are calling the Police or outright intimidating anglers. One chap in his late 50's had several men, cans of beer in hand, come out of a house and play football around him. Intentionally kicking the ball against the railings 3ft from him. When he moved off, they immediately went back inside.
One (and perhaps only) advantage to living in Canada is that I've never been bothered while fishing public waters. I fish the river in the city where I live all the time
The thing is Mr Liner, with regards to private property and such they have a point, but as a man who grew up in London, knowing all too well, what potentially people could get up to the dangers of growing up in London, there’s a 1000 things anyone could do that’s far more destructive. me personally - if people were respectful id leave em to it. This guy went about it all wrong. He could have come down, spoke to you as he wished to be spoken, been a genuine guy. Instead, he went off very rudely. As for that little weedy clown, should have both decked him.
I've had bad experience with few members of public. There was one woman who said to me "fishing is crime". But us anglers should never loose our heads and be cool. That's how to deal with them. GoPro is a great friend, it's not only to record your fishing but also keeps you abit safer. 👍
So is it legal or illegal to fish in those waters? I am pretty confused. Because if you cant fish there then I mean you guys shouldnt be fishing there, bottom line. But, if those are signs placed by people who live there then thats another issue.
Great channel! I find two things unbelievable. 1. The fish you catch in these urban areas and 2. The amount grief you get off security and members of the public. If there is one thing I used to like about London was that people tended to mind their own business. Obviously not when it comes to fishing!
It's amazing how willing people are to harass normal and innocent fishermen. I bet they wouldn't say boo to a goose if it was a group of hooded up people actually committing crimes. To call the police and waste people's time is just outrageous. The social justice warriors of this day and age really make me loose my faith in humanity. That man accusing you of filming his kids is a disappointment. To best enjoy the sport unfortunately I would recommend staying as far away from London as possible. Good luck and tight lines.

Free speech isn’t always morally good and can be downright evil.
Well done for keeping your temper, knowing your rights and pointing out this growing trend of homeowners who live near our urban canals and basins trying to claim ownership and putting up signs which they mistakenly believe removes anglers rights to fish. Some anglers are not as well behaved as you appear or as articulate and do not cast angling (see what I did there? lol) in a good light. As more and more green space is built on, houses sold with the canalside experience, so does the ownership of fishing rights it seems. They bought into a suburban heaven and everybody wants to have it to themselves. Where in fact, it is public area. There is nothing private about a public area. Laughable, except where drug users think they have the right to abuse an angler. Thats just pitiful
“Don’t take pictures of me!” He’s like a fucking Harry Enfield character. If that was me I’d politely but firmly say “Listen mate here’s how it’s going down I’m fishing here that’s it, leave me alone I don’t want an argument, it’s your move”
As an Angler it is frustrating that people don't realize a lot of fisheries and stretches of water are populated for the purpose of fishing. Also a lot of the money made from permits is used to clean the river and maintain the river banks which everybody benefits from. Also in the summer when oxygen levels crash it's usually anglers being their last chance of survival
I've thankfully never had a bad experience fishing. Granted, I am in Ireland, and where I fish tends to be away from people, but when I fish in town or off piers, I always have great conversations with people. I am only ever annoyed when they won't stop asking questions about me fishing 😂 I don't know what I'd do if someone was harassing me, probably wouldn't be very polite I'd say.

Hate to see people behave this way when all your doing is enjoying yourself, and if your not trespassing on private land the only person who has the right to move you on or tell you that you can't fish is a EA representative or if there are official EA signs even the police don't have the right to do that. Good work on all your vids 👏
you could argue not even EA have the right to stop you fishing im not a fan of the arguement pvt land on waterways ...like if you got money you can own your own stretch of what was public waterways just dont sit right with me we should have public walk ways through all the gardens and industrial lands that back onto the canals and rivers both sides of the river

Bang on THE TESTS 👍g
It is such a shame that whole new generations have and are being denied access to nature, curiosity, and the ability to learn the importance of conservation for themselves in these trendy city environments.
you are filming my children through the window, thats incredible, make this man famous
The gobby geezer didn't like having his picture taken , now he has starred on you tube and everybody knows hes a prat . Let's see some fish H L i love the wild fishing action
I tried explaining that the idea was never to get him on film in the first place, but you saw what trying to reason was like 😆 had he just kept quiet or at least been polite in his approach, things would've gone differently.
Cheers bud, those wild urban fish are always out there and my search never stops 🎣💯 tight lines, and all the best 🤘🏻
@@theHorizonLiner What annoyed me was when he was gobbling off and realised he was losing the argument and then began yawping that you were taking pictures of his kids alluding that you were doing more than fishing! He thought people would guess you were after his kids the stupid arrogant, self entitled snob. Keep fishing and tell these people to get lost.
Winning an argument with a smart person is very difficult. Winning an argument with an idiot is impossible...
Wow what an elite snob!
The householder really would benefit from a smack in the kisser. I don’t regret selling up and leaving London 20 years ago. Part of the reason I did it was so I could fish the southwestern rivers for sea trout. RIP London.
Glad I ain’t the only one man I love my country I really do and I love the people from the very tips of the north to the very edges of the south who cherish our beloved land bless you all❤️
That householder appears out of his depth. I would doubt that he has any authority to dictate.
Wow that guy was a monumental berk.
God forbid people in London enjoying themselves. Surely reaching kids fishing is better than joining gangs
One (and perhaps only) advantage to living in Canada is that I've never been bothered while fishing public waters. I fish the river in the city where I live all the time
And I can walk down to the end of my street to go fishing in NB
The thing is Mr Liner, with regards to private property and such they have a point, but as a man who grew up in London, knowing all too well, what potentially people could get up to the dangers of growing up in London, there’s a 1000 things anyone could do that’s far more destructive.
me personally - if people were respectful id leave em to it.
This guy went about it all wrong. He could have come down, spoke to you as he wished to be spoken, been a genuine guy. Instead, he went off very rudely.
As for that little weedy clown, should have both decked him.
Wasn't private property tho
And the signs are erected by the residents with no power
I've had bad experience with few members of public. There was one woman who said to me "fishing is crime". But us anglers should never loose our heads and be cool. That's how to deal with them. GoPro is a great friend, it's not only to record your fishing but also keeps you abit safer. 👍
So is it legal or illegal to fish in those waters? I am pretty confused. Because if you cant fish there then I mean you guys shouldnt be fishing there, bottom line.
But, if those are signs placed by people who live there then thats another issue.
I wouldn't have even engaged with either of these sad clowns. I'd have just turned my back on them and kept fishing.
Maybe answer with “oh yeah?” or “hey, yeah. Cool. We could do that sometime!”
I would of just ignored him and carried on fishing 🎣
Tight lines fellas
Great channel! I find two things unbelievable. 1. The fish you catch in these urban areas and 2. The amount grief you get off security and members of the public. If there is one thing I used to like about London was that people tended to mind their own business. Obviously not when it comes to fishing!
there is nothing to like about Londonistan.
The white people that live in London are not from London anymore, they come from all over the UK
Oi you got a liocense for that mate?
I remember when these carp went in there, back in the 80s, this fool in the garden ain’t even from the area,he’s been living there about 5 minutes
🤣🤣🤣 OMG absolute melts.
Keep up the good work lads.
We plan to 🔥🔜
If you ever find yourself in Texas in the Houston/Gulf Coast area you are more than welcome to join me in fishing on my boat. The fishing community is a great brotherhood and this is uncalled for!
In America it's Illegal to Harass a Fisherman or Hunter while Hunting or Fishing.
Unless it’s illegal at that spot or time or what is being hunted.
Florida has open carry while fishing/hunting. Bruh love to shoot them
Yea buts its like the consitution. Ineffective and never enforced.
Makes me appreciate the beautiful state of Colorado. We have our issues but this is drab mate. Hopefully it gets better
KEEP FISHING BROTHER GOD GIVEN RIGHT TIGHT LINES
Where did a god tell you that it’s a right to fish?
@@KBosch-xp2ut Matthew 4:19
@@MZhris
That’s quite a stretch.
@@KBosch-xp2ut how is it? A "right" is defined as "morally good, justified, or acceptable", anything god endorses is exactly that.
@@MZhris
A “right” has nothing to do with morally good. Now you’re confusing rights that are granted by governments with doing what is right. 2 completely different things.
Rights (the granted kind) are not always morally good. The 2nd amendment in the USA certainly isn’t morally good. You think God endorses guns???
Free speech isn’t always morally good and can be downright evil.
Well done for keeping your temper, knowing your rights and pointing out this growing trend of homeowners who live near our urban canals and basins trying to claim ownership and putting up signs which they mistakenly believe removes anglers rights to fish. Some anglers are not as well behaved as you appear or as articulate and do not cast angling (see what I did there? lol) in a good light. I am a member of the VBS with the Angling Trust who fight for the rights of anglers and monitor waterways for pollution and poaching among other issues. Tight lines lads.
Wow I feel sorry for you guys having to put up with that in London. I’m very glad I’m from Staffordshire and have an abundance of waters to fish without the hassle of people with nothing better to do. Very well handled 👍🏼🎣
I am from Stafford-shire as well, and have miles of Fields with at least Two up to 7 Ponds In Each, And no one around for miles.
Can you eat the fish there? I only like to catch fish I can eat haha otherwise I see it as a waste of time if you know what I mean.
@KilliKonKarnage no you can't most the waters in britain are polluted. Ontop of heavy metals in mud ponds
Great fishing in staffs, I grew up there, I miss fishing there 😢
Love how you handle the first people 👍🏽🙌🏽
Just noticed that pot head trying to tell you about the law, you should have told him it is illegal to smoke cannabis in 🇬🇧.😂
That would've been as pathetic as the man telling him he can't fish. Grow up, not everything needs to be a argument.
You've shown some real restraint, i would have given some free swimming lessons out. Would be worth challenging the no fishing signs with the owners of the waterway.
Dude, I love the way you handle yourself and Others.Just incredible, I don't take kindly to other bothering me, While I fish.
Much Love, From a Canadian Fisherman.
I understand the frustration, but remember what you went out there for and never let anyone get inbetween you and that goal 👊🏻
Greetings from London, tight lines 🤘🏻
Had to deal with this most of my life fishing in South London. Keep it up 💪
Urban fishing is something that should be encouraged. In Amsterdam people go lure fishing for predator fish in their lunch hour
why would people get so offended by someone fishing? this just boggles my mind I do not understand the problem...
Ikr. There's bigger issues in this world
As more and more green space is built on, houses sold with the canalside experience, so does the ownership of fishing rights it seems.
If that was me I’d politely but firmly say
“Listen mate here’s how it’s going down I’m fishing here that’s it, leave me alone I don’t want an argument, it’s your move”
I don’t know how you do it mate, but good for you. I’d probably get arrested on my first attempt and Karren would be in the water 😆
Haha I understand you 😂 but remember you went out there to find your peace, so don't let them snuff it out 💪🏻💯

I feel your pain amego.
Lived in london from 1999 to 2003 dont miss it not even a little bit.
I had oxygen thieves approach me all the time
As an Angler it is frustrating that people don't realize a lot of fisheries and stretches of water are populated for the purpose of fishing. Also a lot of the money made from permits is used to clean the river and maintain the river banks which everybody benefits from.
Also in the summer when oxygen levels crash it's usually anglers being their last chance of survival
At 6:45 when he said "public pedestrian" I laughed so much it's like he's tried to sound educated with some big words and that's the best he could do.

What camera did u use for this video, amazing video tho im really into nature and would love if u did this in morocco, morocco has no law for fishing and its a very nice warm country with huge fish diversity :D
Nice upload mate , people need to realise that you can film almost anything you like if you are standing on public land .Still haven't used that reel yet I'm going to Christian it when the rivers open 🤜🤛🎣
Thanks bud, it's exactly as you say, we have the right to film if we're on public land and he showed no expectation of privacy so he had nothing to complain about after leaning over his wall like that.
Not long left til the rivers open again, all the best for when they do 🎣👊🏻
Hate to see people behave this way when all your doing is enjoying yourself, and if your not trespassing on private land the only person who has the right to move you on or tell you that you can't fish is a EA representative or if there are official EA signs even the police don't have the right to do that. Good work on all your vids 👏
That's exactly true, and all these places are as public as can be.
Thank you!
you could argue not even EA have the right to stop you fishing im not a fan of the arguement pvt land on waterways ...like if you got money you can own your own stretch of what was public waterways just dont sit right with me
we should have public walk ways through all the gardens and industrial lands that back onto the canals and rivers both sides of the river
@@chippiepaul232 we should and probably was aloud to back in the day but due to some idiots we have probably lost that right over the years but I think we do need some sort of regulation other wise you would have people doing some messed up shit with long lines and god knows what else.

Don't touch me im a public pedestrian ,as apposed to a private pedestrian, your fishing is interrupting my smoking innit bruv 😂
Really want to start fishing again( in London) but this is putting me off a bit…20yrs ago we could fish all along the canals all the way to Vicky park and people would seem happy to see lads doing something wholesome…now lots of middle class vegan hipster types about.

Imagine bringing up his children to try and intimidate you into moving.
Top Tip for dealing with nasty locals.....just ignore them, don't make eye contact and don't listen to them. They aren't there.
We need to get Auditing Britain to start fishing.
Or not
YO!
So I totally accept that most of the people you were engaged by went way overboard but if you were fishing in a place that says no fishing what do you expect?
A sign put up by the residents and you have permission?
People need to keep their beaks out of other people’s business before they come across someone like me who has little tolerance for bullies.
Wow, how sad that real men are disappearing so fast and now these people have nothing better to do than harass fisherman. One reason I avoid cities period.
If this was up our way, Bolton in Lancashire, the only bother you'd get would be people asking you how you are getting on anf giving advice whether you wanted it or not!

So many haters out there. I don't think i'd want the hassle. You guys are brave to do it, you don't know what you're dealing with, with these people
Thank you 🤘🏼 and actually I think I know all too well unfortunately...
I can’t imagine why some people are the slightest bit concerned about people minding their own business. I used to metal detect in a parkland opposite my house, filled in all holes and left things how I found them. I had numerous people coming up to me in just four hours screaming at me, threatening me with violence and filming me. Even though, yeah, I wasn’t meant to be metal detecting there, I left everything how I found it. Some people are just jobs worths
Unbelievable! Fair play for keeping your temper in check

So many people just wanna complain about things that have no impact on them
These people’s relatives moved to America…they are called “Karens”.

And this is why I sold all my fresh water gear and started sea fishing 🎣
