Sorry i m not getting much time to make a story video on wukong. I hope u find a story video as it's been 2 months already and someone might have made it.
Please allow me to attempt to delve deeper into the story. The toad is no ordinary toad. It is a mythical creature call Jin Chan (金蟾) that can bring good fortune . It appears only during full moon. The opening scene implies a full moon, with moonlight reflecting on the Jin Chan. So why the young child (novice Jinchi) wants to capture such creature? Here is my speculation: Jinchi might had received "lower ordination" or "samanera". His next progression is attaining "higher ordination" or "upasampadā" to become a monk. During the Tang (the setting period of the story Journey to the West) and late Ming Dynasty (when the story Journey to West was written), to become a monk, one requires to obtain (purchase) an Ordination Certification from the Ministry of Rite. Such certificate would cost a large sum of monies. So why such certificate is worth so much money. Well, the bearer of the certificate would be exempted from taxation, military service and force labor. So the government (the royal court) wants people to pre-pay the tax before becoming a monk. There are other two ways to obtain such certificate: royal appointment and examination. So I assume that Jinchi is planning to capture a Jin Chan to trade-in for an Ordination Certificate, since Jinchi has no desire for wealth... Wow, that is just the begin of the first cut scene. The designers of this game did their research and had a great understanding of the Chinese history and Buddhism.
i really appreciate that you made this, are you planning to do the same for the other animations?
Yes, I'm thinking too. Just need some time.
