Yo, Michael Martinez here.. VideoSquid is currently what you’d call a “reaction channel”. Some of the bigger names that people seem to really like on this channel are Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, One Direction, Sohyang, Lady Gaga, Diljit Dosanjh, and pretty much anyone on WISH 107.5.
This channel was started when I quit my job…. fine, I was laid off… I had some extra time on my hands and didn’t necessarily need to take on a new job at the moment, so I decided to find out what it would be like to become a “TH-camr” and if there was ANY possibility that THAT could actually be my new “job”. So I checked out the Trending Videos section on TH-cam because I figured that’s where all the newest and coolest stuff would be, prime reaction material…. So I started off reacting to EVERYTHING!! Which was a waste of time…… although I guess it wasn’t a complete waste because it helped me work out some of the kinks. I was reacting to talk show interviews, random vlogs/sketches, educational animations - I’m bored just writing about it.. THEN I came across Zayn Malik’s stripped down version of “I Don’t Want To Live Forever”, which I thought was awful… I said exactly what I thought in the video and I received an unbelievable amount of hate, nothing like I’d ever experienced…. It didn’t bother me at all though, because of certain circumstances and even past jobs I’ve had, I have REALLY, really thick skin… The amount of hate actually excited me. The way I looked at it, engagement was engagement. Every time someone told me, “kill yourself”, “never react again”, “eww”, “quit youtube”, “shave your eyebrows”, “If I saw you right now I’d kill you”.... etc…… I thought, this is gonna help my SEO, I have so much activity!! Then I did MORE Zayn reactions, along the same lines of course, and others where I was also brutally honest and got MORE hate.. I got so used to being a hated channel and I totally embraced it. I accepted it as my thing.. But then something WEIRD happened……… people started to “respect”, “admire”, “appreciate”, even “LOVE” my honesty……. I didn’t know what to do with this information… It confused me for a moment… I didn’t mind the people that hated me at all, but now, I also wanted to keep the people that liked me, happy…. There was a short period where I didn’t know who to be… Do I keep being this Simon Cowell type that trolls my own haters?? Or do I be a nice guy now and tone it down because I don’t want to scare the nice people away?? Then I realized that the only reason ANYONE liked me in the first place was because of my honesty.. and I never minded the haters in the first place so, honesty was the answer…………….
It’s been awhile since that revelation, and this channel has been getting SO MUCH LOVE ever since……. Haters/trolls get bored after a while if they realize that they simply can’t get into your head.. The cool viewers stick around for the party :) ….. People have been SO cool that I even decided to “give back” a little and give them the opportunity to “critique” ME, since that’s what I’m doing to their favorite artists on a daily basis… So I started uploading some of my original music, completely expecting to be DESTROYED in the comment section……. And nope…. More love….. I’ve been doing music for a long time…. And I’ve NEVER received this kind of love for it! I was overwhelmed by the positivity and realized that I have the BEST viewers!
I don’t know what the future holds for this channel. It’s currently 99.99% reactions but I’d also like to do vlogs, sketches, more original music, etc. I’ll try to learn more about what you guys want to see and then I’ll do my best to deliver.

Harry actually wrote this song. I have to say i loved his hair this length. This was a big change for One Direction at the time. I love this song.. plus did u slow down this song, cause it is normally faster!!
The s is silent for pronouncing Louis's name. Funny story, while in school, he had everybody pronounce it with the s, but when he went on XFactor, Simon pronounce it the correct way without the s and Louis didn't say anything. You will hear it pronounced both ways. I like (sometimes) when you talk about the different, older songs these songs remind you of. I like many of those older songs, but don't make the connection, until you mention it. I like Where Do Broken Hearts Go. I don't think this is the best performance for this song. What makes this performance so cool is Ronnie Woods (Rolling Stones). If you look back in the vid, it's really cute because Louis switches places with Harry so he can be next to Ronnie. Harry is a big fan of his.Also, when you do react to Louis Just Hold On. You should do the live XFactor performance and the recorded one. The XFactor one is extremely emotional, because Louis mom had just passed away, and, while he didn't write the song about her, it fit the situation perfectly. It is, also, the first time he performs it, ever.I thought you might find it interesting-Niall said that the microphone he is using in the 1 take vid was Frank Sinatra's mic.

could you do full album listenings from 1D and start with MITAM the last album I am soooo curious what you think about it...they experiment a little bit with old sounds...so curious if you hear which music influenced them...and of course what you think about 1D. I believe that when they were in 1D they had to do the bubble gum pop rock thing but I think they looooove to be on stage and sing and now they are exploring what their sound should be when they come back.....they want to be a proper BAND.

I think their fifth album is their best album musically, comparing it to their first four. It's still pop, but lyrically and musically I think they're more meaningful. You should definitely listen to it, it's called Made In The A.M.

Couple of things.. First off, I LOVE it that you compared One Direction to Bon Jovi because they're my 2 favorite bands of all time. Second, this song is normally faster tempo than this and it sounds better that way..not sure why they slowed it down here but it's not my favorite either, even though I love the song. just a heads up I think that version was a little draggy to me. I just didn't sound as up to speed as it does in the audio or as full, so maybe that's why the song was bothering you? It's not my favorite either so I understand

OMG Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones....
The thing with the boy's solo music is that they all have a specific sound except Liam. Liam is a wild card. His taste in music is a bit of almost everything, mostly hip hop, so his musical genre is all over the place. He has a song with Quavo, a hip hop artist, but he also has a song with Zedd who is an EDM artist coming out soon. I think it's safe to say there will be some hit and misses with his music, but I personally enjoy and appreciate the variety in his style
If it makes you feel any better I'm a music lover and I didn't know who he was either.... just because you haven't heard of a certain band or artist doesn't mean you're not a music lover.... I don't listen to all music... I'm not sure if that's your kind of music, but it's be cool to see you react to "for emma" or "skinny love". I also wouldn't really take what one direction sings always as a way to view who they are, because a lot of times the songs they sang weren't written by them (which is a shame)
