Meguiar's D300 features their Super Micro Abrasive Technology, non diminishing abrasives. The idea is to attack the paint with a quantity of micro sized abrasive particulates, rather than starting with a large particle that diminishes into smaller particles. They pioneered this technology with M86 So1o Cut and Finishing Cream in 2006. About A year later M105 was introduced. In years to follow - Ultimate Compound, M205, SwirlX, Ultimate Polish, M101, M100, M110, and M210 would utilize this abrasive approach. Menzerna 400 features agglomerated abrasives. These particulates are comprised of micro abrasives clumped together, and diminish into a non-diminishing micro particle. The world of abrasives is mind boggling. I also love the Buff and Shine Uro-Fiber pads.
Who are you Sir! Never read “diminish into a non-diminishing “ before interesting knowledge changes a lot of concepts in regards to abrasives, Would love to learn more ! Thank you for your comment
Hi Haya busa - Both M105 and D300 are compounds so they are used at the first cutting stage. They are both as aggressive as each other. The main difference is that D300 was specifically developed for use with their DMC MicroFibre Cutting Pads. D300 has a much better user experience. It has less dusting, can be worked longer and in our experience gives better results. D300 is so good that it works really well as a 1-Step polish too using the Rupes Yellow Fine Pads. M105 can leave residue in cracks and crevices which can be quite hard to remove. In our opinion stick to D300 .. used correctly you won’t be disappointed. It is one of our go to compounds/polishes. Hope this helps ... if you’ve not done so already please subscribe. Thanks 👍🏽.
M105 has a slightly higher level of cut, and can leave a better finish - depending on the paint. It is designed to be used with Rotary, hand, DA, and orbital. M105 is body shop safe, and intended for use on both freshly sprayed and cured factory finishes. D300 was designed specifically designed for microfiber on dual action polishers. It is much easier to use, resists dusting and I generally cleaner to work with. D300, like the Ultimate line is not body shop safe. Something to consider if you ever get called in to do a job where paint is being sprayed. I like them both but I prefer the D300. On a really trashed clear coat I like M105. It's got a devastating cut and it does so very quickly. More than M105, I like M110! It was initially designed with the dual action polisher in mind. It cuts a lot like M105, but has characteristics closer to D300 in terms of workability. It's a unique compound and I'm still getting used to it. Because I work in an environment where paint protection film and window tini is being installed I usually use 3D ONE or ACA500 to cut. From there I can finish or medium polish with 3D ONE. I do keep their AAT502 for the extremely finicky finishes that don't like to finish out. I haven't needed it at all this past year at work. At home I'll use it to really up the gloss when it's been purchased by the customer. My typical cutting pads are the Uro-Fiber, Lake Country Purple Foamed Wool, and green Hex Logics (yeah, I know... but they somehow cut better for me than the yellow or orange). I polish with yellow Uro-Tec or blue Hex Logic. Ultra finishing is done with black LC HDO (I'll be switching to the new grey Uro-Tec soon).
@mojkanayt7758 - Thanks for watching! One of detailings rule of thumbs is to achieve your desired results whilst being as least aggressive as possible! Whilst we can achieve great results using D300 our go to combination for softer paints would be Menzerna Super Finish 3500 with a Rupes Yellow pad! Try a small test area to see if you get the results you want and work upwards from there! Hope this helps! If you’ve not already done so check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗.
So the Meguiars D300 might be too weak? But I guess it's a good polish, even for an amateur who has never done polishing? So a polish with less abrasiveness than 3000 will be useless for polishing Korean lacquer? And what if I just want to lightly refresh the paintwork because it is in good condition, what would you recommend? @@VProjectUKDetailing
@mojkanayt7758 - No! D300 may be too abrasive! No - at times we have used water only as lubricant for super soft paints to achieve great results so 3000 grit or less could be effective! D300 is a fairly forgiving polish so a good choice for beginners! For a general enhancement it depends on paint hardness and defect level but again in general 3500 is a good choice for soft paints! 👍🏽🚗
Thank you for your response. Price is not an issue, is there anything better than your recommended Menzerna Super Finish 3500? How about Meguiars Ultimate Compound, suitable for Korean soft lacquers for machine polishing? List your top products in each category? Can you? @@VProjectUKDetailing
@@VProjectUKDetailing For me an amateur who has a 9mm pitch polishing machine, what polishes do you recommend? And which pads? I ask you very much for your advice. I have a Fiat and a Hyundai Just please recommend something without fillers, because I would like to apply wax after polishing afterwards
Thank you for the efforts, in my opinion and experience using both products on different types of clear coats, Menzerna is my go to product over any other compounds. Cheers
Hisham Shakir - Thanks for watching. Although D300 is intended to be a cutting compound designed to compliment the DMC line of MF cutting discs it works wonders as a one step when combined with a Rupes Yellow Fine pad - especially on hard paint. Give it a try. If you’ve not tried the newest Sonax CutMAX we would also recommend that as an alternative to the HC400. It will feature on a future video on the channel. Thanks again for watching - make sure you check out the rest of the channel and if you’ve not already done so please subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗
