As a non New Yorker I always thought these were a lot of metal and overall a huge mechanical assembly for the actual light output and warning power. I never understood why anyone would use these.
@@MikeDMC2 That's the supposed thought process, but is it necessary? MAYBE if the area was extremely hilly? I would think elevation rather than distance would have the most influence on vision, especially with today's tremendously bright and flashy LED lights and "Christmas Tree" vehicles.
