I had a lot of fun with this concept last year and wanted to revisit it since. Including different elements and using real quartz crystals was the obvious direction to go. I’m very pleased with the result as well. What do you think, though? I know it doesn’t look natural, but the “fantasy” builds are a great change. Enjoy the video, and have a great weekend SerpaSquad!
i really like this look, ive been wanting to make one themed after the ARK survival evolved Aberration map. and this video answered some questions on how ill make certain things work.
Just did that blue crystals thing but in a lego themed tank. Looks cool had bubbles coming up through the crystal too! An underwater lego person science station and an overgrown octopus. The rest was regular stuff. The real plants made it look awesome!
I agree this is a great improvement to the glass. I just picked up a 37g and was deciding weather to do fresh or salt macro. I might give this a shot with something a bit more to add to the magic😊
All "natural" designs are great but when done well, fantasy imaginings are every bit as good. This is beautiful. The fish are perfect for this set up. Love it
While the crystals make the tank supercool on their own, I think the way you implemented two 'piles' and bridged them with spiderwood was done exceptionally well and deserves a highlight of its own. I'm really impressed, it's been a while that I had such a strong urge to make something similar on my own. Truly inspirational!
After spending the morning dismantling my tank and rescuing my neon tetras after my daughter put half a container of shrimp pellets into my tank, this is exactly the inspiration I needed to try something new instead of tossing in the towel and rehoming my fish.
the banjo catfish is an amazing addition, i've never seen a small fish with such a unique shape the aesthetic seemed incoherent at first with white quartz and black stone and the brown wood, but the plants really tied it all together and made it seem natural. makes sense, given you've been doing it for over a decade!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more visually appealing hardscape before water, plants, or anything else is even paired with it. Just seeing the finished hardscape alone is beautiful and seeing it with plants adding even more color is awesome.
Wow, Serpa Design! Your crystal cave tank is an absolute masterpiece! The attention to detail and the way you've created a stunning underwater world is truly inspiring. I'm in awe of the way you've combined art and aquascaping. Keep up the fantastic work, and please keep sharing your incredible designs with us
I really enjoy your take on more experimental and fantasy themed tanks because you make them look more natural (despite it not looking like that in the wild) and not like kitsch at all!
I LOVE IT! Who doesn't want to see some diversity in their aquascapes? Everyone wants a Rivendell theme in their collection. Please consider making more fantasy scapes.
Out of your whole channel I think this is my favorite build. The way you clustered the crystals makes them look like they are naturally growing from the rock. The tetras really set off the glow too! The plant selection above the rim is also sublime. Well done sir!!
I loved the old crystal gems aquarium that you made, but this one really does bring it to the next level. I love the different mood lightings and the clumps of crystal really remind me of the crystal clumps in an old indie game called sea shine. Overall, this really is just an outstanding looking tank and also one I will be pulling heavy inspiration from for my 20 gallon aquarium.
One would think that you'd eventually run out of ways to "wow" us with what you can put into a reasonably sized glass tank. One would be wrong. Holy wow this is gorgeous. Literally breathtaking, my breath actually caught for a second when you revealed the final look with the tetras included.
Love this set up😘👍🏻 I'm stealing your light and crystal designs for my waterfall fountain on my balcony. The fountain rock looks volcanic grey in color and has pockets for plants in places. But I wanted something more to highlight the water drop areas with lights, and your crystals are a perfect idea...Thanks Tanner. 😎
I have been dying to see you do something including quartz! This does not disappoint in the slightest! I hope we'll see you do more in the future with different kinds of rocks. Possibly the occasional crystal again too. ❤
It reminds me of the first Avatar, like the forests at night. I don't recall things lighting up at night in the Way of Water though. Lost opportunity, if you ask me. It's magical. Thanks for the amazing wholesome content. It's my favourite when you have plants above water too. It just adds so much to an already beautifully composed aquarium. Why would you not, unless you are in love with fish that like to unalive themselves by jumping out. lol
An incredible design with excellent execution. I would love to see some more experimental fantastic designs like these now and then, the naturalistic approach and your experience with building more traditional designs really grounds this piece as a plausible aquascape that looks natural enough even with its fantastic elements. Great work as always, Tanner!
Using the filter material to anchor the plants into the right areas is brilliant. I see beneficial bacteria colonizing the filter media and thus providing direct access to the nitrites and nitrates broken down. That’s very smart
I don't think a vivarium has ever captured my imagination quite like this. it's like its own hidden world, some kind of sunken magic temple forgotten by the surface world.... that brown sand really ties it together perfectly
I watched Disney's Atlantis recently, and the crystals remind me of the ones they have in Atlantis. This feels like a miniature fantasy cave, especially with the catfish that adds a sense of scale.
Dude, IMO a Superman's castle of solitude theme tank would be perfect for quartz crystals only tank. No rocks, woods, plants, just all white quartz crystals and sand. All white/transparent fish too.
Hello Tanner… I must say that of all your amazing tank designs, this one just may be my favorite. A great way to boost the aquarium fish immune system and keeping them stress free by adding illuminating clear crystals. Keep creating and inspiring others to do great things in life.
Good video as always. Please consider making a video on making a home for some dune geckos (stenodactylus sthenodactylus), I would love to see your version of a home for this amazing species!
Love the different designs. The neons are such a perfect choice as inhabitants. If you ever did a third rendition, it woud be cool to see an entirely quartz hardscape.
Wow, so beautiful! I love the look of this. Also, i think this was Kitten’s fav episode so far. She was captivated start to end! Can confirm that your feline fans loooooove the final footage of fishies enjoying their new homes.
I have never seen so many aquariums without a single Plecco, Algae eaters are hardy and low maintenance, they keep the algae down and are pretty cool to try and spot, when they are not cleaning the glass.
These are the kinds of tanks i want to make in the future. Just putting your heart and soul into making something more out of the box. Absolutely incredible.
This is so incredibly beautiful! I have a 60 gal tank that isn’t rimless, but could easily have something like this put in it. The water is already completely cycled as I’ve had fish in it for years. The best feature of the aquarium is that the glass in front curves outward, and I think that could be an amazing asset
I wasn’t sold until I saw the plants go in. That was the Ah-hah! moment. It all made sense. It looks like a fantasy forest with the illuminated crystals and big, lush plants. The only thing I think that’s missing is the cave element from the first one. I’d love to see you go back and create a cave setup. Doesn’t have to have crystal lights, just some kind of cave layout, perhaps for so,e interesting kind of animal that likes water and land and would enjoy a big cave. I think it would be a real test of your skill to get the whole set up looking like a cave instead of just one section. I always enjoy everything you make and watching you create is so calming.
Thank You for sharing. I'm in my sixties now but I love sci-fi and I'm still a dreamer, you created a beautiful world in a confined space that I could get lost in!!
I think the crystal tank came out beautiful! The crystals add a wonderful surrealism to the tank. Love the fish you added as well. I've never seen a Banjo catfish before. You can really see how it got it's name. Thank you for sharing another awesome build!
This is absolutely stunning! The black neon tetras look really good in the glow of the crystals, and I was also pleased to see you added a banjo! I have two of them myself, they are always interesting because you don't see them much, and when you do it's like finding a new fish in the tank!
Hey I wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your videos. I found you channel at a hard time in my life and they bring me much needed peace watching you out these setups together. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next design.
@SerpaDesign After doing research and ordering everything I need I am ready to welcome my new Bearded Dragon. Thank you for encouraging people to enter this hobby the right way. Research, count up the cost in the time, money, space, and building skill sets you are awesome. I know the Big Tony rescue was a few vids back but I wanted to show some love and comment on this video twice.
I love all your builds, but I feel like the inhabitants of this one was perfect! The tetras do a really good job capturing the light from the crystal with their blue bands and translucent bodies and the banjo catfish looks perfect in the substrate! Much love
This is absolutley gorgeous! The lava rock and ingenious way you created the light crystal sculptures and placement of the chosen plants is brillant. I have wanted to create something special for my 16 gallon square tank and am totally got my brain working on an idea inspired by this . Thanks for all the fish and creative ideas you provide. Not only do explain your techniques, but communicate in a very easy to follow way. Kudos!

Hi, Tanner! I always loved the original crystal aquarium, it was just so different from what you usually do.
Just did that blue crystals thing but in a lego themed tank. Looks cool had bubbles coming up through the crystal too! An underwater lego person science station and an overgrown octopus. The rest was regular stuff. The real plants made it look awesome!

At first, it sounded like you're about to criticize The hell out of this man.
Gd wish my video had gotten this much attention I feel like my idea was stolen
The Tetra's with their shimmering blue stripe go perfectly with the glowing blueish crystals. Gorgeous build!

I wouldn’t mind seeing a few more fantastical set ups. You do such a good job of integrating nature and fantasy

Right? Banjo catfish are awesome!! We have one at my work (fish and reptile store) and I love him so much
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more visually appealing hardscape before water, plants, or anything else is even paired with it. Just seeing the finished hardscape alone is beautiful and seeing it with plants adding even more color is awesome.
It looks so so cool. The plants really elevated the look and the quartz’ luminescence is amazing!
This is my favourite set up so far. I love the wood arching across the tank with all the plants. Beautiful.
Wow, Serpa Design! Your crystal cave tank is an absolute masterpiece! The attention to detail and the way you've created a stunning underwater world is truly inspiring. 水晶クラスターと観葉植物の夢のようなレイアウトにうっとりしてしまいました😊 本当にありがとうございます💚

This was one of his best builds yet! Tanners design really stands out from the rest
Unbelievable Tanner! This looks simply stunning what an amazing idea!!

This looks beautiful! The crystal look like glowing lotus flowers and make it look all the more peaceful and enchanting.
You're absolutely killing it man. You've really outdone yourself! Hope the finger gets better soon
One would think that you'd eventually run out of ways to "wow" us with what you can put into a reasonably sized glass tank. One would be wrong.
Holy wow this is gorgeous. Literally breathtaking, my breath actually caught for a second when you revealed the final look with the tetras included.
I build custom enclosures for my snakes I love creating jungles in my house .I've learned a lot of tricks and new ideas from your channel thank you
Love this set up😘👍🏻 I'm stealing your light and crystal designs for my waterfall fountain on my balcony. The fountain rock looks volcanic grey in color and has pockets for plants in places. You always treat your animals with such care and love and that’s why you are one of my favourite TH-camrs

When fantasy meets reality, something beautiful happens. I love that tank set up.
Incredible as always💜💜

I think that's the best one i've ever seen on that channel. Please keep us updated on this one
You have created a truly magical world for them 👍
This is one of my favorite tanks you've made. I love it! The crystals combined with the plants looks stunning
Using the filter material to anchor the plants into the right areas is brilliant. I see beneficial bacteria colonizing the filter media and thus providing direct access to the nitrites and nitrates broken down. That’s very smart
Its like gazing through a portal into another world where peace, hope and serenity still exists 😵💫
Your builds are mesmerizing, sir.
This one is so much better, plants really make your builds.
Black neons were a flawless choice. Perfectly reflecting the green and purple! Superb artwork as always Tanner.
Ive been watching your vids since forever. Finally decided to make my own channel. I only hope my enclosures come out as amazing as yours do.
The original tank was one of my favourites, I’m so happy you made another one! ❤
You are the only one that truly disrupts the aquascaping environemnt! Always different stuff. Well done!
Love this! So pretty and whimsical!!
As others have said, every piece of this is amazing, but the raw hard scape is really stunning. Tanner is absolutely a master and an artist in design!
I don't think a vivarium has ever captured my imagination quite like this. it's like its own hidden world, some kind of sunken magic temple forgotten by the surface world.... that brown sand really ties it together perfectly
I love these videos so much, I’ve been watching you for 3 or 4 years now and I always get excited when you post. Thank you.
This channel pretty consistantly makes the best looking fish tanks on the internet. Really inspiring!
If you make a saltwater tank you should try this again, because many corals glow under uv and the crystals would blend right in😊
I watched Disney's Atlantis recently, and the crystals remind me of the ones they have in Atlantis. This feels like a miniature fantasy cave, especially with the catfish that adds a sense of scale.
This honestly might be my favourite build you've done! I love the crystals in the tank!
This is by far one of the coolest aquariums I've seen EVER!!!! This inspired me to make my own terrarium, wish me luck!
Dude, IMO a Superman's castle of solitude theme tank would be perfect for quartz crystals only tank. No rocks, woods, plants, just all white quartz crystals and sand. All white/transparent fish too.
It's absolutely astonishing, surreal, and dream-like. I would love to have a freshwater tank like this one! Amazing work!
Hello Tanner… I must say that of all your amazing tank designs, this one just may be my favorite.
A great way to boost the aquarium fish immune system and keeping them stress free by adding illuminating clear crystals.
Keep creating and inspiring others to do great things in life.
So pretty! The brown sand was a great idea! Good contrast 🙌🏽
Good video as always. Please consider making a video on making a home for some dune geckos (stenodactylus sthenodactylus), I would love to see your version of a home for this amazing species!
I love the crystals.. feels like this setup is part of an enchanted jungle that is long forgotten. Beautiful tank 🩷👏🏽
the potential for a salt water aquarium makes these types of pieces even more mind blowing.
The previous crystal tank was my favorite tank you've ever done. I'm so excited for this one too!
your videos always bring me so much peace and comfort. love your ideas thank you for sharing :)
Hands down my favorite set up you’ve ever done! Your creativity is off the charts!!!
Absolutely STUNNING!
The brown sand is my favorite. The contrast between the black rock and the blue lights and green plants really pops! Such an amazing design!
Man, what a gift to be so creative. Love this channel!❤️
Such a cool set up. And baby fish!
This right here is probably my DREAM fish tank, it's absolutely stunning!
Truly mesmerizing aqua scape, I love this design you came up with. What a Stellar project 🌟
I have never seen so many aquariums without a single Plecco, Algae eaters are hardy and low maintenance, they keep the algae down and are pretty cool to try and spot, when they are not cleaning the glass.
This is by far the coolest aquarium you have ever built.
These are the kinds of tanks i want to make in the future. Just putting your heart and soul into making something more out of the box. Absolutely incredible.
awesome can't wait for more

I love the brown, black and green colours together in this tank👌🏻
Outstandingly unique and stunning, wow
Tanner, this is one of my favorites. It’s really gorgeous!! The Catfish is perfect.
That turned out *much* better than the previous design. It has a lot of Avatar feel to it, with the arching structures and the glowing aspects.
The black neon tetras look fantastic in this set up! Beautifully done.

you never cease to impress me with your skill and artistry. always very inspiring 😃
This might be my favorite of all your creations.
I Love this. It looks like an ethereal world with magic crystals growing from the ground. Gorgeous and sooooo much fun
This is absolutely stunning! The black neon tetras look really good in the glow of the crystals, and I was also pleased to see you added a banjo! I have two of them myself, they are always interesting because you don't see them much, and when you do it's like finding a new fish in the tank!
It's so so beautiful. The driftwood has a flow that makes it stand out. It's amazing!
Wow. I absolutely love this conecpt. Everything looks so cool. Good work man
Hey I wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your videos. I found you channel at a hard time in my life and they bring me much needed peace watching you out these setups together. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next design.
I absolutely love this with the crystals. I also like the natural environments but this is mystical and so lovely.
Stunning... You have me wanting to have an aquarium again. Aquariums in my day were nothing like this.
Omg the little banjo scoot scoot towards the end sooo cute!
@SerpaDesign After doing research and ordering everything I need I am ready to welcome my new Bearded Dragon. Thank you for encouraging people to enter this hobby the right way. Brobably one of your greatest creations
Watching his creativity and style evolve is captivating
I love all your builds, but I feel like the inhabitants of this one was perfect! The tetras do a really good job capturing the light from the crystal with their blue bands and translucent bodies and the banjo catfish looks perfect in the substrate! Much love
It looks so so cool, this is one of
my favorites ! The neon tetras go so well with the design it's perfect
This is probably one of my all time favorite aquariums. Wow!
So beautiful!! Looks like a fantasy magical forest scape!
I'm not really a lover of art. But your art is fantastic and watching you make it is mesmerizing. Don't stop bro. You rule.
This is absolutley gorgeous! The lava rock and ingenious way you created the light crystal sculptures and placement of the chosen plants is brillant. Another elegant project! It looks beautiful, and the fish seem happy (which is the most important factor). I'd say a big success.
