I like the way the lyrics are rolling around like in a slot machine like they`re saying that you have to take chances in life. In the 70s I worked on ships on the Great Lakes, and on a few occasions some mornings I would walk out on deck to find thousands of butterflies resting on the ship.
Great Reaction , I can feel your emotion through the screen of my phone ....that 2nd " SAIL and SEEK " hits me in the feels everytime .....one of the best songs Tuomas has ever written
Thank you so much, glad you liked it. :) It's hard to listen to that song in public tbh, even if it's with the regular phone headphones, this song hits so good and somehow it intensifies with every listen. Truly a masterpiece.
This is a symphonic prog metal Masterpiece! 😎🤘 Haha, you have tattooed XIII to your cheek, and not without meaning. You could find the pope Leo XIII in the album "Yesterwynde" booklet and in the music video of "Lanternlight", if you ever get there. 😅👍
It definitely is. :) Haha, my lucky number and something that always reminds me of where I grew up. I will remember that, since 'Lanternlight' is the last video for the album (for now) it will be the next Nightwish song I will do.
An excellent reaction. A song that gave the whole Nightwish experience. From epic vocals and orchestral parts and Kai’s thunderous drums to Troy’s hauntingly beautiful uillean pipe solo at the end. We even got a guitar solo but it’s a shame that the mix meant we didn’t hear the end of it very well.
I loved your reaction to this! can tell you're an actual Nightwish fan instead of just chasing internet clout. am so glad I ran across your channel....hello from the PNW and take care :)
How is it possible you haven't listened to the whole album yet 😮 Nightwish has been a part of my life from the early 2000s also. It's a joy to see another long-time Nightwish fan watching these new songs for the first time. It's like listening to one of my favorite bands with someone who's also enjoying it. So thank you! When this album came out, I watched several reactions to the whole album, and I loved watching those, for the same reasons I described above. It's nice to kind of share this experience with someone. And about this song. Also loved it. It has so much, and it has that heavier Nightwisg I love so much. I can feel this song. Have you listened to another Finnish band, also my favorite, Amorphis? Greetings from Finland!
Only because I'm saving it, to share with everyone here and to be honest, it's kinda cool that I can keep the curiosity and the mystique up for a bit. :) That's one reason why I'm doing this, sharing this experience is a wonderful thing and getting comments like this makes it even better. I did the same back in 2019, when I kinda 'rediscovered' Nightwish again. I would really like to make a series of maybe a whole live concert, or something. You described it perfectly, I think it also gives you past, present and maybe even a little future, although of course the melancholy hits the hardest for me. :) Back in the day (around 20 years) I listened a lot to finnish bands, Sonata Arctica, Wintersun, Norther, Childen Of Bodom of course, I even went to a festival in Helsinki when I was 15. I had one song of Amorphis which I frequently listened to, don't remember the name, something with 'water' maybe? Thank you so much, love to see so many finnish people here.
@kaNjiXIII Ok, so maybe you haven't listened to Amorphis with their current singer, Tomi Joutsen. His cleans and growls are great. I recommend their newest albums, and if you want to react to them, there's a couple of live performances from -21. Although I think reacting to them isn't going to bring you many views. I would, of course, watch and enjoy, whether you like them or not. th-cam.com/video/I0cMhyCntxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gG1l3n7enpoFuBWg Here are them live in Wacken 2018 th-cam.com/video/7Ac9npit4wI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_LdYC06oL1-8tqnF
@@kaNjiXIIILanternlight is very different if you compare it with an ocean of strange Islands. Lanternlight is a softer song with beautiful lyrics and it makes me very emotional every time I hear it. Im looking forward to hear and see your reaction.
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me explores themes of solitude, self-discovery, and ones existential journey through life's trials. The imagery of the ocean, islands, and mariners reflects a metaphorical exploration of the human experience of connecting with other individuals. The song captures the essence of navigating life’s uncertainties and finding one's place in a vast, often unwelcoming world. It suggests a longing for connection and understanding while grappling with the weight of past experiences and the isolation they can bring. P.S. The reason for the many butterflies in the music video is most likely that in many cultures they show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves,. They show us the importance of surrender and trust as part of the essential process of growth and renewal. Floor recorded her vocals after only six weeks of giving birth to her 2nd daughter & told in an interview that it was painful to stand behind the microphone.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts in interpretation, it's really a beautiful way to look at the song. I feel there's as many interpretations to the song, as people who listened to it and everyone can take something from the song, but you have a great way of putting it into words, I hope you know that. :) And thanks for the PS insight, it's a recurring theme in all our lives, face change, accept change and trust the process. I would lie if that wouldn't resonate with me a lot at the moment. She's an incredible person.
Tuomas dedicated some lines to Marko Hietala, who left the band as you probably know: "You who glow In deepest woe Let it be, retiree, the water's fine Sail carefree" (BTW when you speak, the sound of the clip is half muted....)
Floor recorded all the vocal tracks 6 weeks after giving birth to her second child. You gotta know she wasn't healed yet. She's over 40. She killed it.
Oh my god, 6 weeks is nothing..., it's so important to look after you healt, but it also shows such a great amount of dedication, just got to respect and love her for that. :)
Best thing about this song: it only gets better the more you listen to it! :) Thanks for just enjoying the song and taking it in instead of just overanalyzing it! In the end music should be all about emotions anyways so thanks for just sharing that :) Gonna be interesting what you think of the rest of the album. Tbh Oceans feels like the main course that has everything, and the songs now left for you are like the special flavoured side dishes served inbetween.
