I like the way the lyrics are rolling around like in a slot machine like they`re saying that you have to take chances in life. In the 70s I worked on ships on the Great Lakes, and on a few occasions some mornings I would walk out on deck to find thousands of butterflies resting on the ship.
How is it possible you haven't listened to the whole album yet 😮 Nightwish has been a part of my life from the early 2000s also. It's a joy to see another long-time Nightwish fan watching these new songs for the first time. It's like listening to one of my favorite bands with someone who's also enjoying it. So thank you! When this album came out, I watched several reactions to the whole album, and I loved watching those, for the same reasons I described above. It's nice to kind of share this experience with someone. And about this song. Also loved it. It has so much, and it has that heavier Nightwisg I love so much. I can feel this song. Have you listened to another Finnish band, also my favorite, Amorphis? Greetings from Finland!
An excellent reaction. A song that gave the whole Nightwish experience. From epic vocals and orchestral parts and Kai’s thunderous drums to Troy’s hauntingly beautiful uillean pipe solo at the end. We even got a guitar solo but it’s a shame that the mix meant we didn’t hear the end of it very well.
This is a symphonic prog metal Masterpiece! 😎🤘 Haha, you have tattooed XIII to your cheek, and not without meaning. You could find the pope Leo XIII in the album "Yesterwynde" booklet and in the music video of "Lanternlight", if you ever get there. 😅👍
It definitely is. :) Haha, my lucky number and something that always reminds me of where I grew up. I will remember that, since 'Lanternlight' is the last video for the album (for now) it will be the next Nightwish song I will do.
Great Reaction , I can feel your emotion through the screen of my phone ....that 2nd " SAIL and SEEK " hits me in the feels everytime .....one of the best songs Tuomas has ever written
Thank you so much, glad you liked it. :) It's hard to listen to that song in public tbh, even if it's with the regular phone headphones, this song hits so good and somehow it intensifies with every listen. Truly a masterpiece.
Tuomas dedicated some lines to Marko Hietala, who left the band as you probably know: "You who glow In deepest woe Let it be, retiree, the water's fine Sail carefree" (BTW when you speak, the sound of the clip is half muted....)
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me explores themes of solitude, self-discovery, and ones existential journey through life's trials. The imagery of the ocean, islands, and mariners reflects a metaphorical exploration of the human experience of connecting with other individuals. The song captures the essence of navigating life’s uncertainties and finding one's place in a vast, often unwelcoming world. It suggests a longing for connection and understanding while grappling with the weight of past experiences and the isolation they can bring. P.S. The reason for the many butterflies in the music video is most likely that in many cultures they show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves,. They show us the importance of surrender and trust as part of the essential process of growth and renewal. Floor recorded her vocals after only six weeks of giving birth to her 2nd daughter & told in an interview that it was painful to stand behind the microphone.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts in interpretation, it's really a beautiful way to look at the song. I feel there's as many interpretations to the song, as people who listened to it and everyone can take something from the song, but you have a great way of putting it into words, I hope you know that. :) And thanks for the PS insight, it's a recurring theme in all our lives, face change, accept change and trust the process. I would lie if that wouldn't resonate with me a lot at the moment. She's an incredible person.
Best thing about this song: it only gets better the more you listen to it! :) Thanks for just enjoying the song and taking it in instead of just overanalyzing it! In the end music should be all about emotions anyways so thanks for just sharing that :) Gonna be interesting what you think of the rest of the album. Tbh Oceans feels like the main course that has everything, and the songs now left for you are like the special flavoured side dishes served inbetween. Not as majestic and grande in scope, but very different, unique and experimental in their respective ways :))
@@kaNjiXIII sure, i really stayed with Nightwish after Tarja was gone because of him. I had a hard time to like Anette on "Dark Passion Play" but my hope was not the studioalbum, i love my Nightwish live :) Anette on Stage, first concert, i really wanted to like but after ~45min i was ready to leave this ... (!) but i stayed because i was drunk and the driver actually liked what he heard ... :) ... so then the show comes to an end with "Wish i had an Angel", and i got really angry because of what Anette was doing there ... Imaginaerum had a lot more Marko and i love it, my most played album overall. But hey, it´s ok for me now... Every single Line-Up change brought Tuomas to work harder and put Nightwish on another level, and Jukka even slaps his bass so hard, he made me happy. Sure the male vocals are missing, kind of at least. Love that Troy is doing some more troyish things since ...
@@kaNjiXIIILanternlight is very different if you compare it with an ocean of strange Islands. Lanternlight is a softer song with beautiful lyrics and it makes me very emotional every time I hear it. Im looking forward to hear and see your reaction.
Love this musical journey ❤❤❤ After Lanterlight, for me the best track on the new album! Great concert opener or closer 😁 Would be awesome live with a full orchestra and choir❣️
What an amazing journey that was and I'm so excited there is still so much more. :) Lanternlight will be the next song I'm gonna listen to, since they have a video for that as well. To be honest, I'm not sure how they gonna top Ocean of Strange Islands, that song had everything and as you say, seeing that live would be amazing. Did they ever do a tour like that, I've seen other bands do it, but I don't know if Nightwish ever attempted something like that.
@ they always did tours just now they are having a break after intensive touring the last few years. Saw them in Amsterdam and Vienna, was awesome! Lanterlight is totally different but beauty at its finest.
Ty for this great reaction. You asked about live with an orchestra. That will problem never happen because in a recent interview Tuomas exlained that especially on this album there are so many orcherstrial layers that he needs several orchestra's to perform the sound he wants. It needs a complete rearrangement.
Man, hearing this song live would f*** break me. I hope we will all one day enjoy this masterpiece live.
I hope so too, let's just break together then. :)
@@kukol123 I think we will. NW has a 30th anniversary coming up in a couple of years, they just HAVE to tour then. Don’t they?
@@Aenea-de9vy People say they will do live shows in 2026 but how many and where...this is a big question mark
Let's just hope we'll all able to see them. :)

This song is a journey! And the ending, omg, it gets me every time. Great reaction!
I still can't comprehend, how it's possible to put such a journey into a 9 something minute song..., just masterful.
A MASTER PIECE!!!
PURE ART-MUSIC!!!
Perfection.
My favorite from the new (amazing🎉👌) album!
I have to agree with you (for now), my absolute favourite so far. :)
This - the whole album - is a work of epic brilliance.
I'm so excited for the rest. :)

Yes, they managed both with that song. :) Quite the rollercoaster.

Magnificent Epic song. My favourite Nightwish song and I have seen and heard almost everything they have done.
Really? Favourite from ALL the songs? :O That's quite a statement.
Tuomas and Nightwish do it again! Pure poetry!🎸🤘The music is just as much a part of the story as are the lyrics. Chaos and peace, but that is life!🎸🤘
Beautifully said my friend, the music completes the story with something words can't describe, but is impossible to be quiet about.
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done kanj and welcome to the Nightwish Family
Thank you very much.
I like the fact that you seemed to really get into the song and feel the raw emotion that it invokes.
Thank you, I have to say, the song made it very easy to do that, to just listen and feel and just sink into it fully.
Tuomas dedicated some lines to Marko Hietala, who left the band as you probably know:
"You who glow
In deepest woe
Let it be, retiree, the water's fine
