Problem 1- the engine is a derivative of the new truck engine that has so far been completely reliable since 2019. Should be better than the V6 in every way. Problem 2- its a new vehicle- there's no reason to think HVAC problems are any more or less likely than with anything else new. Problem 3- You're either ok or not ok with new GM interiors, but it won't surprise you.
Mark these words. This new engine will be unreliable as the majority of all turbo engines, rather owners not knowing turbo engines require stricter maintenance as compared to naturally aspirated engines. They should have upgraded the transmission and not the engine. A 3.6 paired with a 4l80e would be a dream Traverse
I purchased this vehicle in May. So far, it is a very comfortable ride. We went on a road trip, and it is great on gas. Time will tell, but the vehicle so far is living up to the hype.
Mines has had nothing but problems. Infotainment center went out and took 6.5 weeks to repair at the dealer. Took 4 weeks alone for gm to supply the part. We GM is repurchasing the vehicle and I’m not sure if we want to try again. It is loaded loaded compared to some other makes we have seen with similar price range.
The only issue I have with the redesign is the four trim levels. As far as power goes, there is plenty of it with this design. Turbo lag is minimal as it kicks in at a lower RPM. No automotive manufacturer that builds cars in mass is going to be immune from defects. It’s just the nature of the business. You change one supplier for parts and the whole line could come to a screeching halt or you could end up with a product that performs like a rock star. I bought the RS and so far it’s a very comfortable drive. I also have a 2018 Premier and that thing has been rock solid ever since the dealership fixed an oil leak. In the end, tastes can’t be compared. Everyone is different. Take a test drive and see how you feel about it.
Just read an article today from GM AUTHORITY that GM has revised the HP and torque numbers to 328 and 326 respectively, up from the 315 HP and 317torque.
All chevy traverse will eventually get engine timing chain error code. Cost to replace timing chain is $5500 to $6500. I will never by GMC or Chevy with VVT engine (variable valve timing). Ford engines also have the infamous ticking sound after your first oil change and the dealer will pretend they never heard of it.
@@sansinutube I appreciate your suggestion. However, a factory drive train warranty is upto 36,000 miles. Some owners can put on miles in 2 years. While your idea seems smart, for the owner to trade or sell after 2 years is a loss. Why do that when it would be simpler to avoid and not purchase a car with VVT engine in the first place. Thus my warning above to people who don’t know about this issue. The timing chain stretches at 45k miles and the actuators fail if oil is not changed in time or level is slightly low.
This motor is in its 4th year with GM , even powering the 1500 Silverado and has won over a lot of skeptics . It has a low inertia turbo , thus virtually zero lag , you’d be hard pressed to guess it was a turbo if no one told you initially. It also is more powerful and quieter than the v6 it replaces .
Your feedback is valued! The 4-cylinder turbo certainly has its supporters and critics. It's all about finding the right fit for one's driving habits and expectations.
I really don’t see any problem (s). That should be a good engine. It’s an inline 4 cylinder., and Iam guessing it’s closely related to the 2.7 inline 4 in the Silverado/ Colorado., which seems to be a solid engine., it’s been out since 2019. From what I’ve seen in videos the interior looks like they did a good job. (It’s not a Cadillac). The new 8 speed should be a good one. Iam pretty sure all the problems they had with the previous 8 speed were enough to make sure they got this one right. It’s true only time will tell, but with a crowded competition in this segment, I bet this Traverse will be a good choice. I would give it a A without even driving one yet.
yeah and it sucks, the 5.3 is the volume seller in the Silverado for a reason. it's not about going faster from a stop, it's about performance and towing.
Different transmissions in the 2023 versus the 2024 (9-speed vs 8-speed). Transmission reliability in past models is irrelevant unless you have data on the 8-speed in other models.
I feel so burned by the arcadia /traverse engines that I can't even consider giving GMC another chance 🥴 4 cylinders suck also because they rely on clutch plates to keep from stalling.
It's just like all we can do is hold on to our dreams and hope and pray ,course by playing the lottery, it's always said, it only takes one shot ,if you don't play you'll always be scratching by, at least I've always got that one fraction of chance
Might have to wait another twelve months to get serious about this one. I wonder about a 4-banger's harsh engine noise and fuel mileage maybe being less than the old V6 which wasn't the greatest. The 2024 Buick retains the 3.6 V6, but also retains its older technology.
The v6 is gone in most SUV’s like the Toyota highlander and the tundra is not to far away from 4 cylinder turbo. I don’t think these are valid reasons really to not buy the vehicle.
@@karbs76 yeah if only Nissan got rid of it all together, sadly it's still in the Rogue, Altima, and Sentra. but atleast the Pathfinder doesn't, however the V6 is the only positive, Nissan transmissions aren't the greatest cvt or otherwise. with how most of their engines are setup, i still think the Traverse would be the safer pick. though the turbo is a bit of a head scratcher, don't know what GM was thinking with that.
That 4 banger is loud coarse and unrefined. It doesn't feel like 328 Horsepower. Drive it back to back with a Palisade Caligraphy or a Grand Highlander.
Grand Highlander has a 4 banger as well, so it's not any faster or slower. the Traverse numbers are 315, 317 respectively. that's good enough power, but turbos suck in the real world when it comes to towing, and towing also includes people. the V6 will be missed, gas mileage in the 4 banger isn't much better.
I agree, I’m just a skeptic of the Hyundai / Kia motors as the number of failures have been astronomical . The video is incorrect that this is a new engine - the 2.5 turbo in the new traverse is now in its 4th year with gm , even powering bigger vehicles such as the Silverado and has proven to be very reliable and significantly quieter and more powerful than the v6 .
This was the weakest and most negative vehicle review, I have ever seen. Every vehicle has a something that goes wrong and that is (FOR ALL MANUFACTURERS). It was very disingenuous to open up this poorly made review in the fashion, in which you have done. ("THUMBS DOWN")!!! I will never watch another review from this channel.
Ehhhh...it's an okay model. Just doesn't look or feel right in my eye. Too many zonk here and there and very out of place. The outside looks good, the peppy little motor just doesn't feel like it's suited for an suv. The V6 would've been the better choice engine with a little tweak here and there to give it that OOMPH would be a big improvement in the performance overall. As for the ridiculous over-sized infotainment display. It just just too big that could've been shrunk down to an 8" or 10" screen at max with a bezeless to give it that nice premium look overall.
330 hp isnt slow....its a sporty family hauler ...do you plan on drag racing a charger with your fam in the car? Power is competitive with all vehicles in its class
Column shifters are great! All these gimmicky shifters taking up valuable space, for a function you only use for a few seconds at the start and end of your trip.
Totally useless video. None of what you say makes sense on this new model. Everything is different in the transmission and engine section. Only time will tell. But your concerns are idiotic.

The Interior looks more luxurious and expensive than previous years

Does it have a spare tire
@Lovesausage269 they do come with a spare even the LS trim but it's a 🍩
The problem is your lazy to make a real drive review coz this is only an ai review 😅 this is not an actual review

Looks like those figures are now on Chevrolet’s official website for the traverse as well.

Either lease, or get rid off before warranty expires, or buy extended warranty. Never own a GM vehicle without powertrain warranty coverage.

4 cylinder turbo? No thanks. A lot of money for a vehicle that will probably give you less than 150 thousand miles out of it.
Your feedback is valued! The 4-cylinder turbo certainly has its supporters and critics. It's all about finding the right fit for one's driving habits and expectations.
How so ? If you maintain it properly

When I hit the lottery, I'll order up the Z71 in light silver/gray
and the RS in red
Sounds like a dream duo! Fingers crossed for that lottery win! 🤞

The fuel will be better it always is
By the way this video has enough information to be considered a buying guide. Good job 👏🏼
Awesome, thank you!
Should just keep the v6
Great information so buyer beware.
Can't aait to see the ls or lt models since those are the ones I can afford 😅
Stay tuned! The LS and LT models are definitely worth a look, and I'll be sure to cover them soon. Thanks for your interest!
This review is pathetic.
The 2024 Traverse has 328 HP not 315😂😂
You can't sit here and bash the Traverse when you can't even get the facts right.

Traverse, Santa Fe… 2024 is bringing some nice options, adequately powered and better fuel efficiency

its faster than the V6 and probably better mileage

It will so expensive it will make no sense just like everything else this days, I hope I’m wrong ?!

Lol this video was a waste of time

Real wheel drive… 4 cylinder, column shifter. Those are some dealbreakers. But I really love the styling.
Column shifters are great! All these gimmicky shifters taking up valuable space, for a function you only use for a few seconds at the start and end of your trip.
Available with bench 2nd row I hope
on the low trims. The RS only comes with captain chairs on the second row (i'm ok with that)
Yes, with the entry model, it has a bench second row.
in the lower trims
