Another great video Eric. The world of acoustic instruments seems like a big tree, so it makes sense to specialize in an area that you enjoy with considerations to work space, market, income potential etc. Again, I appreciate that you take the time to make these videos and share your knowledge and experience with us.......Curt

I had a guy bring in his instrument and wanted me to change the headstock of his bass starting from the scarf joint out. After a month, he was upset that it was taking too long. It required inlay work including the headstock inlay and fretboard abalone dots transferred over from old headstock. I only changed the headstock, nut and fingerboard and it left my shop. I felt like I could have done better, and wasn't given the time to complete even the small details that go into a major repair like this. We ended up charging less and it looked plain. These are the customers you don't want. The customers you want are the ones that know what you are capable of and do not mind the extra time it takes. I keep my shop open to my customers who want to come in and see the current progress of the repairs.

if I may ask, where did you learn how to repair guitars? Been playing guitars for a few years and I started needing to repair them. Instead of taking them in I attempted to fix them through books and vids myself to save myself a buck like the cheap ass that I am. I found that I really enjoyed doing it and could see myself working on other guitars and getting to a point where I could get payed for it as well. had no clue how to get there though so over the course of about a year I have just been buying tools and books with any spare money I had. now I have pretty much everything I need to start working but I don't know where to go from here or how to start. any advice?
