I know I'm late to the show, but even though I build my own guitars, I'm a Taylor fan-- but it's not for the electronics, that's for sure. My style of playing (VERY percussive, but not like the stuff you see all over the web) broke the ES2 on my 814 several times-- to the point where I removed it and replaced it with a Fishman system. Like one of the other letters, it's the neck-- I love the feel of it, AND that it comes off easily should the need arise.

When buying fretboards, it you like the orange colors and beautiful range of colors, call the seller. I always asked LMI for the more colorful boards and they picked them out for me. (And they were always fantastic!) It seems like the more homogenous grain/colors are more desirable for most people. I would assume Stu Mac can do the same thing if you let them know.?.

I never played guitar in high school. Played the viola though. Agree wood matters for acoustic instruments.
My favorite bands are from the mid 2000s. But went to high school in the late 90s.
Wasn’t much interested in music until then. Now I’m just starting to play. So late bloomer?

Great video Eric. Good interaction in the comments. I like the Oliver Anthony shirt. Gives me an idea of where your head is at. I do so much re-fret work that I kinda shined the hour long video. I may get back to it and get you the view time. I do hit the like button cause I know about the algorithm being a YT creator myself. I do watch all your acoustic content because even though I've been building electric guitars for about 25 years as well as repairs on both acoustic and electrics, I'm very new to building acoustics. I did just post a video of the first finished acoustic on my channel. If you care to watch and tell me what you think about it. I'm pretty thick skinned after many years on YT. My channel is under my real name Dane Nichols.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw Oliver Anthony while I was in Texas. Got lucky, I happened to notice he was playing just an hour away from our air bnb and tix were still available. It was an awesome show. He's a really inspirational character.
I'm gonna check out your YT channel now. Thanks for watching!

No sympathy from a builder of ukuleles regarding sound hole size! But I build with a Spanish heel so the neck becomes integral with the body in the solera mold…. Today I watched a body to neck joint glue up at Kanile’a. No bolts, a glued floating tenon. The low tension of the nylon strings means no need to re set in the future…

OMG Santa Cruz, Larrivee, and several others, Martin of course blow away most of the others. Taylors are built by robots, not kidding there is less than an hour of time from a human on each guitar. As a mid market guitar they're OK but they are not in the top tier. Then there are the hand built luthier guitars (like Ryan) that are in a whole other territory. You guys need to get over to Dream Guitars (in Asheville), play some really good guitars, most players haven't heard what a really good guitar sounds like.
