    The cleaning putty is a great idea! It's easy when you know how! I've been building & racing model cars for years, but this just goes to show - always keep an open mind - you're never too old (or too clever) to learn something new. Cheers Adam. 🍻👍

    nice to see this topic come back from time to time, and funny, every time, you learn something new or have a new attention point. Thx!! Although I think i'm doing it the right way, from time to time, I have a leaky diff after rebuild, or even with a new build. Never from the o-rings, but always from the gasket. I'm super carefull with the bolting order, first just snug etc, It's not even that the bolts are loose or so, nothing special, and 9/10, a rebuild with the exact same parts and I'm trouble free until the next service. Any tips? I tried grease on the gasket vs not grease at all. No grease seems to give the most change of being leak free, but not always. And I have had it with Team Asso as wel as Hoboa, so not brand related.

      It could be the surface of the diff case isn't perfectly flat? Maybe try sanding it lightly on a flat surface before building the diff?

    I like Lucas high pressure grease in my diffs. It’s the only grease I’ve found still stuck to the gears after hard bash sessions.

    So how do you manage this with the outdrives? on the front diffcub you write no. 2 on it, on the gear side 1. And when you put new ones in the front, do you remove the rear ones and put the ones that were in the front to the rear?

    How did you feel about the Protek grease on the diff cups. I usually use this all around.

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the white Protek grease on the ring and pinion, but the Mugen grease on the diff cups and outdrives.

  • @Teamster542
    @Teamster542 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brother Adam,
    When you say you remove them with the same orientation, what exactly do you mean?
    Also, odd question but I have heard of people putting their gears in gasoline to clean them to “new.” Before reinstalling with new diff fluid.
    Any thoughts on this process?

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to make sure the left outdrive stays on the left side and the right outdrive stays on the right side. I haven't cleaned the gears with gasoline myself.

    • @AdamDrake

    Hi. Do you have any shims behind internal gears??
    Thank for the vid👍

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, with the current production gears you can just remove the four small shims, but in the future we'll have a revision where you can run all the shims inside the diffs.

    How come you don’t clean the actual diff gears and plastic diff case in the ultrasonic cleaner , I was going to try it but was going to put diff parts in a small plastic container so the oils dosent mAke the ultrasonic cleaner very dirty ???!

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, but I just let them sit for a little bit and most of the fluid runs off the parts onto the paper towel.

    • @AdamDrake

      I don't but I also do my diffs often. I guess if the oil was super dirt it would be fine to use brake cleaner or an ultrasonic cleaner.
