The iron skillet is a fish frying pan. Soak it in oil and heat it up, generally upside down for a couple hours. Been a good season. Now for some high altitude summer camping away from the bugs.
After all these years, you are still one of the most honest TH-camrs. You are who you are and I enjoy learning things with you, and watching you learn as you go!
I’m from a small rural village in Warwickshire uk, I love getting baked sipping green dragon 🐉 and watching this dude, he rocks. ❤😂🎉and he reminds me of benzema from Real Madrid which is a good thing because he scores great flying headers and other really super cool goals as well.
When I live near Fairbanks Alaska I had to go into town for water. I brought it back to the cabin in blue 5 gallon containers from my weekly trip to the laundromat. I always filled one container with hot water and did the dishes when I returned. The laundromat also had hot showers.
I to look forward to the changing of the season's with its awaiting happenings. Soon the grasses turn lush shades of green with vibrant array of colors poking out from wild flowers. Fish will jumping as the May flies hatch out and with that comes the endless brutal plague of flying biting bug's. It's life in the wilderness. Then soon fall drifts off into a winters nap again. I look forward to seeing these changes through your video's. Please tell Crystal her cross stich work is beautiful. I to enjoy cross stitching.
Foil steamers! Brings back memories from years ago. I used to make shrimp, potatoes, carrots, and Old Bay seasoning wrapped in foil on the campfire. No ketchup, but delicious anyway. Friends camping with me were pretty envious as they ate their hot dog on a stick. Lol. Great video Jay. We'll watch whatever you decide is worth showing. Crystal's cross stitch is just what your channel needed for background branding and a homey touch. One step closer to that 'cabin atmosphere'.
Well jay the SNOW is going away I am REALLY going to miss you I had a small stroke on my BIRTHDAY 18th but I am staying STRONG and FIGHTING very hard to WALK again please pray for me thank you for always making me smile WATCHING your WONDERFUL VIDEOS stay safe and BLESS OUTTHERE your friend ROSA OLBERA FROM Texas
And that's a winter wrap ladies and gentlemen! Now I ponder what wild spring adventures await! Still thinking a trail cam would be nice but warmer weather brings about so many critters! Better to guess than to know is what I'll keep saying. As for the cabin, we will speak it into existence! How exciting! Thank you again Jay. Looking forward to the next video, just be careful on that lake! And yes, Crystal did a fantastic job on the cross stitch. Love the logo, hoping for some merch. Stickers maybe at least? Take care and Blessings!
To eliminate the rust in your cast iron, get the pan real hot, then use table salt to scrub out the rust! Then oil pan & throw back into the stove to season it.
I am sad to see your winter season come to an end . But on the other hand I have had my fill of winter. Us northern Canadians know winter. I head to work at 6:10 am and come home for 8:20 pm. Long days of outside work. The cold weather has been brutal over the season. I look forward to the long beautiful summer days and your videos. Your doing an amazing job and have plenty to be proud of. 👍
You are so good with b-roll, the fire, the northern lights, your musical accompaniment, it all speaks to who you are. Having these handcrafted things they all add SO MUCH more, it screams that others are behind you and appreciate you for it. I love your videos. I smile every time I see a new post. You are one tough son of a bitter and I love you for it!
The cross stitch Crystal did is just beautiful!! Try to slog out to the tent next weekend. Only if you aren't in danger of falling through the ice. I seem to recall you were just a guy figuring out how to build a tent frame just a little bit ago. I like watching you figure out how to do things. Enjoy your spring/summer!
There is just no one like you Jay! You are truthful, honest and each video just gets better. Thank you for taking the trouble to make them for us. We will patiently wait for the next video you decide to post. What a lovely gift for Crystal.
Just awesome Jay, I cant believe the season is winding down already. What a fun video to watch. A little depressing yet joyful knowing the cold will come again quickly keeps me satisfied. Hoping you will have a productive and safe summer !! 👍
Thanks for the nice videos, Jay ! and thank you for letting us accompany you over the winter! I hate to say goodbye... and hope that we can hear and see from you again as soon as possible. Until then, I wish you all the best and stay healthy! God save you, Jay! Best regards from Hamburg/Germany. Uwe😉👍
Jay, I thought I had subscribed to your channel long ago. I have been watching for the past year or so. I am an avid camper myself. I admire how much you are enjoying your last winter trip. It is reminiscent of my family during our last fall camping trip. Knowing you won’t be able to return for some time adds some melancholy tones while also reminding you how excited you will be to return, again. Thank you for your honest, wholesome videos. I truly enjoy them.
I canr even remember anymore when I discovered your channel. I would say over the years, every video has incrementally improved and I just keep coming to watch more. Watching you reminds me so much of the time I spent in the winter with my dad at our camp 🏕 near Shining Tree 🌳 Ontario. I wish I had the money and youth to go back by ❄️ snow mobile in the winter to our camp. I remember many -30 and -40 nights there. When it was -40, my Arctic Cat Panther 440 would need 10 pulls just to get the motor to turn over a bit. I remember frost inside the outhouse being 5 to 7 cm thick. Man, it sucks getting old Jay.
@@jaylegere Have been a big Arctic Cat fan...now they are joined with Yamaha. When Cat was powered by Suzuki, those engines were reliable, tough and good on fuel.
Thank you Jay for a great season of viewing, you made it very interesting and fun to watch. I wish you good luck on getting approved on your cabin build. That will certainly be another great adventure. Thank you agin.
I have a cast iron pan just like that. It's a Fajita pan. At least that's what I have used mine for. When it was given to me it came with a label on it that said fajita. So I seasoned it with salt in a 350 degree oven for an hour. The pan came out perfect.
Another great video brother. Concerning the Bear Tent; you gave them probably a better commercial than showing us you camping in it, by leaving it static throughout your harsh winter conditions without readjusting tie downs, maintenance issues, etc. Nature showed the high quality of their product better than any human use. Hope they appreciate you.
Have you ever tried thinly sliced potatoes cooked right on top of the wood stove? You flip them to brown on both sides, when cooked take them off and add salt and butter. We do this lots at the cabin. So delicious.
Heya JayBro!!! Nice! Glad to see you remembered to bring water my friend! Please continue to keep your love of nature in ur vids. They keep us coming back Brother!😁⛺️
The Northern lights are so peaceful Jay. Hate to see the snow go away but looking forward to see some summer videos. Hated to see the Bear tent go down. It’s such a beautiful place at both tents. Hope to see you bring us along next weekend. Go for it, but yeah be safe. 😁 just wandering it you have any bear problems in the summer? Wow you just kill a person with all that good eating. 😁Food always taste better cooking out in a tent.
I really enjoy your videos Jay and I don't find them repetitive in a sense that it's bothersome. That's why people go to places repeatedly that they have enjoyed and want to experience again. You take us with you and let us do that. Your tent is a phenomenal cabin in itself and I like the 4-ft walls because the top part lets in so much light. If you do try to walk out there next weekend, please just make sure you're careful but I would enjoy seeing any video. Good luck and be safe. Enjoy.
To make the bear tent last longer you will want to protect it from UV rays as well. If you're not using it and it's setup you might want to throw a tarp over it that blocks UV.
Jay you have come a long way in such a short time, you are now a experienced woodsman and I really enjoy your videos can't wait for winter so you can do it all over again, plus you are a very good cook.
hi love your channel. you should put some stove paste on your stove over the summer. you put one layer and then bake with a fire inside the stove. do that two to three time and your stove will not rust for a long time .ps do it when in the summer ...it smells a lot
I don’t find it repetitive; even if you post virtually identical videos, I just love to spend time watching you hanging out at the tent! Looking forward to next visit ☺️
Here’s a tip for seasoning cast iron. You’re not supposed to burn the oil off. You are only supposed to heat that oil on that pan at about 300°F for about 30 to 45 minutes you’re not supposed to get it so hot that it burns it off
Love your videos Jay I hope you get approved for the cabin that would be game changer for your videos.I still like the tent ones though so I will always watch no matter what.🙂🇨🇦❤👍
the cold may not end quite yet, as i have told you before. Fighting with all that snow in the summer is hard work. I have to agree its best to move now while snow available for SM.
I love the bear tent, it looks so cool... And the inside is so cozy... Can't believe I'm going to say this, but, can't wait for next winter... You are so blessed to see the northern lights... Please feel free to have them in every video...
Crystal done amazing job for your logo what amazing workmanship crystal put in to the logo it's a looks great, I'm enjoy watching your great videos you have awesome winter scenery thank you for sharing great videos take care be safe 👍👏
Thanks for another wonderfully epic time at the tent Jay, your cooking skills and the close up views of the food is intoxicating. Jerry comes through again with that nice chimney cap, should end the smoke in the tent issues and Chrystal's handy work is a welcome addition to the tents character. J in the woods is perfect. Your ability to capture in video the beauty of your surroundings as it happens is a treasure for all of us to share and I thank you for those efforts.👍😀
You have an absolute gem of step father there Jay…..maybe one day you can do a camping vlog with him that’s if he is not camera shy…I’m pretty sure most of your fans would love to meet him….
That burger looked so good, if you put a drop of water in the pan and throw the lid on it'll melt that cheese just right as always love the videos. You have it pretty great there
Love the content jay, so chilll and relaxing. Definitely much beeded after a night of being sick. Looking forward to the spring/summer videos, allthough the thought of all those mosquitos and black flies sounds annoying!
I'm going to remember this season by those incredible northern lights. Also by the not burning the tent down with you in it episode. Also by being unexpectedly excited by an iron beast of a stove transiting the length of Canada and winding up - yes! - in my living room. I can't wait for the season to come. Thanks so much, Jay!
Jeri ( sorry for not knowing how his name is spelled) is such an amazing dude he takes such amazing care of you and your mom! He's a true gentleman for sure!!!
One of the best parts of your videos, to me, is the cooking parts , always look forward to seeing you cook and eat. Maybe I'm just weird 😂😂
The iron skillet is a fish frying pan. Soak it in oil and heat it up, generally upside down for a couple hours. Been a good season. Now for some high altitude summer camping away from the bugs.
best you tube to watch for cabin building my self reliance Shawn James is the man
He's definitely the man

The northern lights were absolutely stunning in this video!!
The weather in Korea was so hot today ,but when I watching this video makes me feel refreshed .😊

You are in an incredibly beautiful forest. tent, food, stove, all perfect. I don't need to say the northern lights. we want to be there too :)
