I remember that concert. It was in the rtb studio in the commune of Schaerbeek. I was in the audience. The second band that evening was Secret Affair. Good souvenirs.
Just so raw and brilliant. I saw them at Glasgow Uni in 1978, what a great night. When we were all youngsters, life was edgy and exciting. Getting the train in to the ‘Toon’ from East Kilbride, with no idea how we’d get back home. It didn’t matter then.
Big wow. Just one or two years before their great breakthrough with their sublime Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination and New Gold Dream era. That's when their GREAT TIMES happened. I was with them play four times playing live in 1983 and 1984. Great times. Thanks Alan for this unique upload of 17'01 minutes of a great band live just before their prime!
To think that just 3 years later they were playing Waterfront. I don't know if any other band has undergone such a seismic change in such a short space of time.
This is pretty stunning ..Without anyone really knowing it they were one of the most forward looking bands of the time ..The best was still to come though
ThereKs been b&w footage about. And the TV station uploaded Factory some time back, but I have never seen the whole performance in colour before. Thank you SSOOO SO much for uploading. I could kiss you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So cool. I remember convincing the bouncer at the Hacienda I was 18 to see these guys so that must have been 1981. Their heyday. Truly amazing band. So original.

I really dig Simple Minds early stuff. Especially Derek Forbes on the bass.
Simply brilliant at this point best band ever
Kings of New & Cold Wave , intouchable from 1979 to 1984. Best Band of The 80s

I was a massive metalhead around this time but these guys really stood out as something totally different.
Very cool upload.
Subbed.
Simply bloody awesome
This is a real gem, Simple Minds were so young and inspired at the time! Thank you for sharing
You can really hear the Howard Devoto/Magazine influence this early on.
& joy division
I hear Jim Morrison, Doors influence too.... but still an original Mnds sound
They were referred to as the poor man’s Magazine at the time.
@@neilmaclean294 Well they did support Magazine, before I beieve they released Real To Real . But Empires and Dance showed great creativity.
Life in a Day sounds very Sparksy to me.
Thanks for uploading - new to me. As the years go by, time capsules like this get more precious.

Super this old material from their heydays....they produced so many powerfull songs between 79 and 83....
Something wondrous being born,,,what I would give to be there ;-o
Bloody love capital city.
Gold !
There was always something trundly and hammered together about the Minds in those days. I like them for that.
young and learning and clunky- but still creating magic, laying the foundation for future anthems style. And they were hotties in this era too LoL.
Wonderful!

I love Simple Minds and Jim Kerr but his dance moves do make me chuckle! It's like he's on an acrobatic workout! Thanks for showing this, brilliant!

1:37 Wonderful in young life
Maybe something which @Dexbam could do some of his magic with.
Jims off his lips here...😊
Grandi
His voice on factory sounds quite like the cars.
