Ultravox - Talking Heads - B-52s - Simple Minds - Wire - DEVO - Magazine - Stranglers - Killing Joke - Cure - Joy Division - Clock DVA - Gang of Four. What an amazing upload. Thank you. I had the luck to be a teenager in 1978,1979,1980, I had the luck to grow up with that music around me. And - as it always happens - I did not have idea how much lucky I was. I had my favorite bands, back then, among these ones. Now, almost half a century later, I say that all of them, none excluded, are my favorite bands. All of them.
Lucky enought to be a night clud Dj at this time...... Played many of these tunes and many more by most of these artists. Simple Minds, The Cure, Stranglers and Ultravox were the favorites
Great video, really missing The Fall though! So many of these pioneering musicians have passed, RIP Geordie, Raven, John McGeoch, Ian Curtis, Jet Black, Dave Greenfield, Andy Gill, Bob Casale, Ricky Wilson and Chris Cross
I had the privilege of seeing many of the new wave bands back in the day I seen the ruts , the pistols, the vibrators, the banshees and the stranglers. I first seen the stranglers in 1979 and they were totally awesome .....for me the best live band of the lot. I last seen the stranglers in 2022 and they were still awsome.
I’d never heard the Simple Minds song before. This versions got amazing energy. Much better than the LP I listened to after hearing it. Thanks so much for doing the work of compiling this. It’s appreciated.
I saw Simple Minds in a Technical College in Dumfries,Scotland. Still to release their 1st album. I knew they would be huge as they had the best of PA systems and my mates backed them. 1st album was terrific as was most of their albums.
Devo were brilliant. You could pre-order their first album in different colours. I got it in bright yellow. Still sounds fresh and innovate to this day.
My son is in his early 30s .when he listens to my music. He says you lived in a great time. And I always reply, yep. It testament to these great bands they were.
Had a band during 81-84 and played a lot of songs from Stranglers, Devo, B52, Police, Joe Jackson… years… years… but Great Songs! Usually we started shows with Planet Claire and finishing with Something Better Change.
Top notch footage !!!! most of those bands were acquired taste in France...few medias were interested in this challenging music.. and rehash old time bands like stones , queen, elton john...
Thanks for uploading, those must be rare live clips. I was in junior high school from 1977 to 1979 ( I was born in 1964 in Japan), and I started drumming and the band then, and listening to all those bands you uploaded. I liked Rough Trade musicians, especially The Pop Group. I appreciate it if you could post those.
There is a ton of raw energy drooling from the stage into the mesmerized audience. God, I loved those concerts in the 80s. The Cult! The Chameleons! Sham 69! Sisters of Mercy! UK Subs!
In that period music was so fresh and mindblowing. My collection of records is still there, but I miss the thrill of seeing these bands and many others alive.
Simply because the music of the early Ultravox was not commercial enough as it unfortunately became. As happened to Genesis after Gabriel left. Perhaps the pure soul of these bands resided in their frontmen.
Saw Simple Minds at the Marquee, Wardor Street one time. Jim Kerr thought someone had spat at him (it was those days), and he whacked some poor bloke standing in front of me, who had done nothing, with the base of his mic stand. Hated that
I saw a few of these bands in the era of these videos, sadly not many came that close to where I lived. Music is definitely not it once was. For me it ended with the new wave of new wave.

Totally agree, groups that also marked my youth, those times … 🖤💜🖤
61 year old guy here, killing joke, the cure, Joy Division. . Anthems from my youth.

Great video, John Fox with Ultravox, superb.
I was lucky enough to see Talking Heads at a festival in Edinburgh. It was around the time of Fear of Music. Great band/gig

we're getting old, mate.
And mark of course
Wow. I was to write the same and your comment is spot on! Thanks! 😂 Magazine but not The Fall??????
And yet Cliff Richard still stalks the Earth...
いきなりウルトラヴォックス!

ありがとうございます🎉
This is f_ckin brilliant ! I especially like that many of these bands are in their early period. Thanks great upload.
I was around 13 years young. This music was so new and exiting, i still think it is. Todays bands (well, most of them) just don’t do it for me.

Toute ma jeunesse, j'ai 60 balais. C'est quand même de la bonne musique...Psycho-Killer Rocklobster the Forest etc...
Memories, memories. I am 63 and watching this makes me 16 again. Thank you
Fantastic. Lots of footage I'd never seen before, Magazine, Talking Heads and KJ all new to me. 👍
I'm 60 years old now, we've been working on a Fall tribute band.
It's going.... really well... Honestly.
Have you dismissed all the members and replaced them yet? If not, it's not a real Fall tribute.
@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx 😂 I'm afraid it's just me now...

Amazing great Mix and earlier Recordings of later big and Popular Bands.Thank you for that good compilation.
I love the raw energy of the performance, imagine what it was like standing in the audience, a lifetime experience.

Che compilation da urlo! Praticamente le origini del post punk. 🖤🖤🖤 Grazie 59Ufo per l'up load. 🙏🖤🖤🖤
forse la migliore compilation di post punk in cui mi sia mai imbattuto
Many thanks for these rare videos! 💯👍👍

Memories are made of this. Thanks a lot for the right stuff
Untouched and raw , reminds me of many nights and many bands
B52's live - fabulous!
nice...thank you..
Great stuff! IMHO You should add The Banshees, Bauhaus, Cabaret Voltaire and TG from the UK and Pere Ubu, Chrome and TuxedoMoon from the US. Bravo!

Never understood why the John Foxx era of Ultravox never got bigger. He was a brilliant frontman.
Simply because the music of the early Ultravox was not commercial enough as it unfortunately became.

Great vids, Thanks so much
Original Ultravox! Man just the dogs bollox

Qua iniziò tutto ... Grazie Ufo59 🎸
Its great this whoever compiled this its ace! Watched it 3 times on the trot! That rock lobster is a load of old pump tho!
The Stranglers best musicians on this clip
賛成です❤
The Cure too
Always considered the early stranglers as a grebo band, like the pink fairies and sahb
Great compiration!
When music was music - some great memories
Very cool. The early Cure was amazing 😮
Une époque formidablement créative .. Cure, Devo, Simple Minds, Talking Heads, ...
Mes 20 ans....
Merci
Il y a le haut de gamme des Talking Heads, le délire réconfotant des B52's, le tube de The Cure, et la CLAQUE BOULVERSANTE de JOY !!
John Foxx first up. Systems of Romance is one of my favourite albums ever.
unconditionally agree.
Totally agree
Autographs, great band
Grande CAZALE 🤩
That version of " a forest" is the punkiest i ever heard !
the lyrics were different once, esp parts of the first verses
it is alsoknown that RS sometimes forgot parts of the lyrics, and just babbles along
Wonderful wasn't it 😊
I wish the music was like this now.
Not an X Factor in sight!!
Amazing !!!!
Thanx A lot!!!!
gracias
I'm gonna have to say this. The records don't do Joy Division justice. They're absolutely phenomenal live.
Exceptional!!!
Avrei aggiunto Chrome - This heat - Pere ubu - Tuxedomoon - The Resident grazie comunque 😊
Abbi fede nelle prossime puntate.😉
La version première de. A FOREST ! THE CURE , c’est culte !

Great stuff! Does anyone have the list of songs?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where's the bloody Fall??
There's no footage of a full song from this era. Short live clips on grandada tv 78. Nothing filmed in 79 and 80.
@@barriereilly3102 sad but true!
The Ultravox clip is from '77
Yes!.. Mea Culpa.
Fkn brilliant
Is that Ian Mcculloch of Echo and the Bunnymen in the Talking Heads audience st 7.54?
Ma quanto spingono gli Stranglers... ❤
Always thought the drummer from talking heads was John craven
Are we not men? No, we are Devo!👍
Devo is great!
Ultravox avec John Foxx, c'était d'un autre niveau.
With John Foxx, UltraVox where one of the best bands I ever saw. That was in a nightclub called Circles, in Swansae, South Wales - 1978.
yes, they were simply great.
yeah yeah yeah yeahyeahyeah!
Where are Talking Heads filmed? Is this a particular concert?🤔
