yeah he's pretty good. the only flaws I have with Jon are he seems a bit more descriptive when he's on the TV side and he hardly lets his analysts get a word in edgewise. that's why I prefer Cole's dad or Dave Fleming , at least *THEY* let Kruk or his numerous subs *TALK*
@disneydanny2 If Jon Miller is in the booth, everyone else rightfully takes a very distant second fiddle. Miller is the absolute BEST broadcaster in the HISTORY of the game!
Once I heard the news break of Vin Scully’s passing, it broke my heart 💔 Came to watch this video to cheer up. RIP Vin Scully. Us Giants Fans love and respect you 🧡🖤🤍💙🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I recall listening to Vin's voice over the radio when I was a kid. He has a natural knack for keeping his listeners focused onto the game, even when they can't see the play-by-play. He never stutters, or stammers while speaking. How does anyone do that? Vin must be super-human.
Best story teller ever. I love the way he used to incorporate a story into many situations in many, many innings. There'll NEVER be another Vin Scully.
You're right about how he calls the action. A while back he called a foul ball that was caught by a guy wearing radio headphones, so Jon asked on air if he was listening, and the guy nodded yes. The game was slow, so between the action Jon spent a couple innings asking the guy yes or no questions about his life. Hilarious.
I'm a Giants fan and love Duane Kuiper. But, when you talk all time greatness. Vin Scully is. Babe Ruth, Mohamed Ali, Michael Jorden, Jack Nicholson, rolled into one. The greatest
It's odd to say about someone in the hall of fame as a broadcaster, but Jon is still somehow underrated. I never hear people include him among the great broadcasters through history, but he without a doubt is. He rises to every occasion, and always gives incredible moments the voice they deserve.
agreen... "I never hear people include him among the great broadcasters through history." then you havent been listening. ive never heard a n y b o d y who didnt include in the all-time top 5
I'm a lifelong Dodgers and Vin fan, but Jon Miller has always been my number 2. I'm from Vegas so we got alot of Dodgers and giants games so I was fortunate to hear both men call games daily.
many complained....but i dont get it. i watched Sunday night no matter who was playing...........just to hear Jon & Joe. they were great announcers. great insight. hasnt been the same since. Dan Shulman was kinda ok....but that asshat Alex Rodriguez is more than i can stand.
Jon Miller is a great announcer. There is no debate about who the greatest sports announcer is. Imagine being the best at something and then doing it for 67 years. What vin scully did is almost incomprehensible. I understand that to most people he does not mean anything because they just didn’t hear him every day the way people in los angeles did. If i could describe what he means to the city i would, but its indescribable. He means more to los angeles then kobe bryant, magic johnson, fernando valenzuela, and wayne gretzky put together.
@@irishmike1100 I'm just a bit too young to have truly heard Jack Buck, but from everything I've been told he is definitely on the list of greatest of all time.
Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on Sunday night baseball was spectacular! Loved hearing Jon's play call and Joe Morgan's dissecting the play, whether it was great or horrible!
We are damn lucky to have the greatest baseball announcer talent is history. From Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons to Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. Believe it not, we once a this little guy in New York named Vin Scully. Vin was a Giants fan growing up. I had the honor of meeting him once.
@@deanb024 I forgot more than that. Hank Greenberg, Joe Angel, Ted Robinson and Dave Flemming too. I also left out one of the best in Jon Miller. Like I said, we've been very lucky.
LOVE IT!!! Some of my best laughs ever are from listening to the great Jon Miller doing SF Giants games! He's magic! He can weave intricate stories about ANYTHING into a baseball broadcast and never miss a beat. He might do Vin impressions, talk about the Himalayas, or go on for 2 innings about his iPod, and the game still continues to flow with brilliant descriptions, insights, perfect intensity, and of course, genius humor. A truly great story teller. ps. ALL our 4 broadcasters are brilliant!!
Scully is the best because of the length of his tenure, people confuse best with which one they remember the most. To me he was too dull, I prefer Miller.
Met John in Baltimore at old Memorial stadium back in the early 80's, when I was a young kid. He signed my glove during batting practice, and spent quite a few minutes joking and talking with me. He said he wanted to "steal my glove"...lol I still have that glove, and John's signature still looks good on it. Without a doubt, thee nicest guy in mlb. We miss you in Baltimore, John!
Was stuck in SFO 1962-1964 and enjoyed Russ Hodges & Lon Simmons but as a long time Dodger fan made sure I had a transistor radio that could pickup KFI-640 (50K watts)....it could pick up Vin Scully down the coast from Candlestick.
Thank you for the post...Miller's my fav, and I listened to Vinny on the radio for years while living in the southland...so I was pretty spoiled. Can't believe the Giants flagship station isn't broadcast any games besides the 4 or 5 replays they've bored us with the past months of quarantine. they have all those great tapes of great games, but, no, we don't get em
I'm in NewYork but stream radio calls of games from every city. It's great listening to the different teams do the games and the differing styles. But Vin was the only one who did it solo. There was something so soothing listening to his broadcast.
As a Padres fan, I enjoy listening to Jesse Agler and Tony Gwynn Jr on the radio broadcast. Don Orsillo yells too much on TV. My favorite radio broadcast teams are both the Yankees (Rickie Ricardo/Francisco Rivera) and Mets (Max Pérez/Néstor Rosario), you can really feel their emotions without excessive yelling. Love listening to Jon Miller, possibly the best broadcaster in baseball. And used to listen the Rays with Andrew Freed and the late Dave Wills. Hate the Dodgers but Pepe Yñiguez does a good job on Spanish radio. And the Tigers may have the worst wherever you tune them in.
Being from SE Wisconsin myself, I am also partial to the one and only Bob Uecker, but Vin Scully and Jon Miller are greats as well. Vin Scully has the greatest single voice of all time and Jon Miller is a wonderful broadcaster and does some GREAT impressions. His Bob Shepard(late Yankees' PA announcer) is insanely good.
Been listening to Vinny my whole life and man I haven't laughed so hard in years! Miller's great. I can't seem to find a clip of Miller with Joe Morgan at the beginning of a broadcast, with Miller doing Vin and Morgan can't hold it together and starts laughing...
I remember listening to Jon as the Voice of the Orioles during the summer of '92 (the short time I was at Quantico) and then he was the Giants Broadcaster when I moved to the Bay Area. Baseball is just better because of talents like Jon Miller and Kruk & Kuip.

I love John. He is a blast to talk to. I still have trouble knowing we had Al Michaels for one year as a Giants announcer. I wasn't old enough to appreciate it.
He also did a great a great Chuck Thompson impression. He pulled it out from time to time when he was with the Orioles from 1983-1995 and Chuck was doing TV games with Brooks Robinson/Jim Palmer.
Many, many years ago, during a rain delay of an Orioles game, Jon Miller recited lines from the movie "The Sons of Katy Elder." But in Vin Scully's voice instead of John Wayne's. Totally hilarious!
I'm not a Dodger fan but don't mind watching them at all because I get to listen to Vin Scully. Jon Miller is great also plus his impersonations were funny.
