    Interesting video, and please don’t forget his brother Theo Van Gogh, who supported Vincent all his life, financially, practically and mentally. Plus his wife Johanna Bonger who after the death of the brothers was instrumental in making Vincent’s work famous.

      The summer of that year was hotter than this summer! Maybe it's better this way, partly sunny and hot and partly cloudy and cool!

    I made this same visit to Auvers in September of 2018 and was at every place you showed in your video. Very well video taped and narrated. Thank you for putting this all together for some fine memories. I lived there for the whole month of September, 2018 and it was an experience I was fortunate enough to have.

    Thank you, Shalinee, for this video. I am from Auvers and it is pleasant to see views from my home town. In fact, it is no longer 'a small village' by French standards.
    If you return there, you could also visit 'le musée de l'impressionnisme' in 'le château d'Auvers' et 'le musée de l'absynthe' and 'le musée dAubigny'. 'La Mairie d'Auvers' (the town hall) was also painted by Van Gogh, you can't miss it if you take the main road, it is right opposite 'L'auberge Ravoux' where Van Gogh used to stay. The primary school nearby on the other side of the road is very picturesque too. To find a bit of shade, you might also stroll along the river bank. You'll get information about other things you could do by paying a visit to 'l'Office du Tourisme'.
    I wish you all the best.

      Hello Paul, thank you for your comment and the many tips on other interesting things to watch out for in Auvers-sur-Oise ! I love walking by the river side, I love the 'train' converted to a library, and the little papeterie/librairie above the Antiquités shop opposite the Mairie. Indeed, Auvers-sur-Oise has many attractions and certainly isn't a 'small village' in French standards, thank you for highlighting it!

    Shalinee, this is going to be one of my most treasured videos! Have been an ardent admirer of Van Gogh’s paintings and really feel sad that he never lived to see the world acclaim he earned. He was difficult to understand as his creative mind far exceeded the normal. Have also read his letters to his brother Theo , his Starry Nights is my favourite & reveals new insights each time I view it. Thanks a ton for this virtual tour of the quaint village and his final resting place . Look forward to watch more of these lesser known tourist delights!😊

      It's the same for me as well, every time I visit this village, I feel I learnt one more astonishing fact in his life. So happy that you enjoyed this video, Shree! I particularly love the drive on the narrow roads with trees looking in front of you (latter part of the video). Loved your comment, have a lovely day ! 🙏💗

    Beautiful! I would also like to visit Arles. Since I saw the movie at eternity's gate, I learnt more about Van Gogh beyond the starry night painting. He has had such tough life. So sad that the revolver he used to kill himself was auctioned for such a high price! But when he was alive no one took notice of his immense talent. I guess that's how life treats some people. Bad karma may be?

    • @ShalineeinFrance
      @ShalineeinFrance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that was the most tragic thing about his story, that his art was considered worthless, when in reality, his art was way ahead of the times! Thanks for your comment dear Madhura, so glad you enjoyed this! xx

    Dr S Gachet was a top hardcore jungle techno rave DJ back in the day. I never knew he was a homeopathic doctor in his spare time. How amazing that he treated Vincent Van Gogh. He must have been quite old when he mastered DJing as I don't think Technics decks had even been invented in Van Gogh's day, eh!

    Van Gogh didn't kill himself !! Please change it. He was a great man. However, his life was hard. If you are interested in Vincent's life, read the book by Van Gogh S. Naifeh; G.W. Smith. But please don't make from him suicide.

      Controversy of Naifeh and Smith biography Wikipedia
      After reading this biography and looking through available articles etc. on the Internet, I also come to these conclusions. His suicide fueled the machine of fame he had achieved. There were times when medicine was not so developed. And that he was an outsider and a rather disgusting man. This thrilling biography is worth reading.
