Wow, this is from 1999?! Amazing that you managed to recover something from Myspace as well. This type of dungeon synth sounds distinct, I would even say that it reminds me of the old internet a bit lol. The composer was a talented man. Beautiful album.
The two songs were found on an unmarked CD in 2020 among Matt's copious saved projects on tape and CD. (I remembered the melodies and the track lengths matched) Although he had just called them "Something New" and "Something Else New" on MySpace, I asked his daughter what she'd like to name them. And thus, "Arisen" and "Horizon" were added to his Bandcamp, dedicated to her, his 'turning point'. ~ Grey Sister
@@greysister3485 Absolutely incredible that we get to immerse ourselves in these new-to-us tracks, even as longtime fans of his art. Thank you so much for keeping his legacy alive!
Wow. What a jewel. Listened to it 2 times in a row. The author put his soul in this work. It is rare to find something so flawless among modern dungeon synth albums. Gotta check out his other works.
You have all these musical works in the description of the video, this artist was absolutely amazing. I'm glad you enjoyed this music, if you didn't know Secret Stairways, I really advise you to listen to Enchantment Of The Ring which is also one of my favorite Dungeon Synth albums ✨
@@tuomasronnberg5244 Dungeon Synth is an offshoot of the Dark Ambient genre of electronic music. Although the name for Dungeon Synth appeared in 2011, in the 90s we could see Dark Dungeon Music by Mortiis or Dark Medieval Ambient by Pazuzu. Among the precursors of Dungeon Synth are Darkwave and Neoclassical by Dead Can Dance.

Matthew's music is always a journey out of time with really beautiful atmospheres ✨

just so you know, this cover art has already been used for the "For all tid" album by Dimmu Borgir
This engraving by Gustave Doré has inspired so many great musicians to represent their album covers ✨

Album meraviglioso. Bellissimo. Triste, malinconico, visionario, struggente, affascinante e sublime. MD era davvero geniale.....RIP ❤😢
Magic!!!
Always magic ✨
Transcendental!
Was it really called dungeon synth back then? I thought it was a recent genre.

@@ancientkingrecords Thank you for the explanation! I do like Pazuzu, but this album is in a class of its own.
Very impressive, thanks for the share...
You're welcome, thank you for your time and for listening ! ⚔️
My god, this is so good! Probably the best Dungeon Synth \ Fantasy Synth (or whatever you may call this genre) that I heard. The harmony is sublime!
Great album. No respect for that Dungeons Deep guy, though.
I could listen to Halls of Avalon all day.
What a fantastic album!
Why does it feel like iM listening to a Daniel Day-Lewis film?
Masterpiece!!!
Thank you for uploading this and honoring the memory of Matt. I really wonder what he was seeing or feeling when he wrote and recorded this music.
pretty good, old but actual
