Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Actually, I want Scraps to revisit the wingless plane idea from some time ago. Thought maybe it can still be an interesting idea to do some sort of challenge in multiplayer.

Could slow down construction with glitches like a glitch unattached piece. Quick tip from a newbie, if you see the glitch piece before you place it, place the piece on the mirror line to form into one piece and it'll delete the glitch one

Yeah, I wish there was some sort of mechanism in the game that could tell you about your weight distribution without needing to test it or something like that.
YES, that annoyed me so much. Everytime he would rebuild, he would move the center of lift behind the center of mass, wich would make him nose down, forcing him to constantly adjust.
Yet there is an option to show forces, which really angers me how he doesn't use it
It would be awesome if you could revisit all of the evolutions, I'm sure everyone would come up with different stuff by now. It's definitely my favourite format.

Fun fact: Wings need at least one block of free space above and below to work as intended. By stacking two wings on top of each other, you just carrying dead weight, Kan.

Landing on creations is always iffy. A runway made of blocks is possible to destroy with wheels.

Evolution 2 concept:
its like normal evolution with increases in power core amount but the catch is, that you are only allowed to work on certain areas of the vehicle. Thats up to choice though, so one person might evolve the wing while the other is working on the aero on the front part
and they will have 20 seconds for each section

I think evolution of steep angle climbers would be fun. No jets, wings, or other air parts but you compete for who can reach the highest up a cliff face with vehicles.

How about this for a crazy challenge : POGO STICKS. You cannot have wheels, wings, anything like that. All propulsion must be provided by a pogo-stick like device. Simple start-end distance, or possibly a simple course?

Yay i loved the evolution concept
The three most important rules to not crashing into the ground is airspeed, airspeed and airspeed. I’d like to see you experiment with pistons, weight and logic blocks, changing your center of gravity automatically to dip gain airspeed and level. I believe this is how you’ll maximize distance.
Airspeed isn't everything. A stubby winged glider going 200 off the runway won't even make it to the oasis for lack of lift.
Unless there's quirks in the aero model, any dynamic strategy will have a static strategy that will outperform it using the same vehicle. Instead of trading elevation for airspeed and then leveling off, there will be a fixed glide slope with a smaller overall drop rate.
I like Kan's idea about breakaway weights. He could have done the engines and wheels that way too and used wheels with better grip.
The evolution videos are what got me to your channel. I've missed them terribly

Idea, 15-20 minute initial build, because you're going to need to take part count into consideration. Goal, you know those physics experiments/competitions with the egg drop? Yeah, go up to the Cloud Kingdom, find somewhere you can drop and drop to the group. See if you can't survive. Limit the number of pieces you can use initially and how many suspensions you can use. Winner is the one who survives with the most of their contraption intact, meaning if everyone dies on impact, if someone has a surviving chunk with more pieces attached, they win. Then you have 5 minutes to evolve for 5 evolutions. Each evolution you get to add 1-2 suspensions, depending on your own discretion, and some 15-30 more pieces, again at your own discretion. Limit yourself to no more than 5 power cores, no lift thrust at all meaning thrusters, propellers, helicopter props, gimble jets, hover pads, or full body prop (as in making your whole build a giant screw and using a gyro set up to spin you to generate lift.) No using sails or wings to create lift either, just poor aerodynamics and crumple zone. Trailmaker Drop Contest commence!!!!
If everyone dies and there's really no contest, then add a limit to small wings to the limit.
PS, to make things fair, the other two should take out any near by threats. You're testing your build's drop impact survival capability as a complete build, not a broken one. It's not fair if you get shredded in mid-drop and your entire build kerplodes.

Neat revamped glider evolution
Cool Evolution/Devolution idea...take BOTH the best and the worst from that round, and you have to incorporate parts of each into your next design. They get to decide which part of their build has to be included. It would be both Evolution and Devolution a the same time.
I think a drone quadcopter evolution would be fun! it could be cool if the final evolution was a battle to the death with cannons and guns.

Yessssss evolution of gliders was the first video I ever watched of yours!!!
Glider battle would be interesting. Shooting forward would reduce speed and time in the air. And shooting rearward would push you forward but limit your hit probability.
evolution, except every player can choose any of the contestants and not just the winner, for example in the 2nd round if you think your first design had the right idea but just needed more time you can risk it

It would be cool to see you do this but you have to pick the worst of each evolution or randomly pick from one of them and still try to fly the furthest to win/ get points. Like a mutation rather than evolution so it’s not always a better machine each round!

Seeing your video, made me wonder what would happen if you fuse some of your challenges together. One idea is to do an cooperative evolution challenge. In team of two each teammate design a part of the vehicule.
Ex: A tank. One player create the body of the tank the other the turret, after the timer is over both teammate merge their build. Then after the winner is decided the player that design the body modify the turret, vice-versa.
If you want you could also evolve (or sabotage) the opponent build to see if you can defeat the evolve form of your creation created by you opponent.

There could be an evolution video where you change the vehicles from each type then race or battle. It could also go where it adds a type after every round and it has to work as all types of vehicles by the end.
I’m not trying to be rude but most of these evolutions I knew exactly what to do and my evolutions would look like and work the same as the actual versions in real life. But great vids! Keep the evolutions evolving!

22:55 that doesn't make sense, a glider is obviously supposed to be as light as possible. You should have made the engines detachble instead of adding even more weight
Evolution builds are what got me into this channel
Day 8 of asking for you to build a large plane with a runaway on top, and take off and land on it with a smaller plane, but you're not allowed to use anchor pins or tractor beams
I've been having fun making car/planes with upside down flap wings. When the flaps are activated it adds lots of downforce for driving, with unactivated flaps the upside down wings still give enough lift to fly. That really could have helped you guys get speed on takeoff, not sure if the glide would have been as good, though.

It seems the red balloon was still targeting your crashed plane Scrapman because your plane was still on the ground. So I think that's how Kan got past it the first time. I'd suggest future runs near enemies you despawn your creations. As far as another type of evolution, dogfight seems good or maybe some sort of AA vs planes.

the evolution is back once again
You know the best glider you make in the game only uses the go kart seat (middle), lots of wings behind each other, (1 piece wide), 1 powercore and the lightest weels.
You cannot make a higher lift power to weight ratio glider. The higher that number, better the glider. Faster is not better.
It's worse the more power cores you add to it, because it has so much lift that you can't drive off any runway faster than 30kph, it just tries to lift off and ruins the takeoff.
The added weight also makes the air control used for steering a nightmare, plus the lift and center of mass don't work anymore because it becomes too unstable at high speeds.
I was able to crush the record on scrapmans old video by a huge margin, and I tested my design today and it still works like a dream!

Going fast means pitch down. Don't stay level hoping your weight adds airspeed. Make it light. Irl gliders have huge wings and as little weight as possible
