Genuinely awesome to see such vocal support for the writer strike from such a big YT channel. Yes a temporary pause on our favorite shows and movies may suck, but it’s far far more important that the talent behind those shows and movies be rewarded properly.
“Covering indie movies, foreign films, etc” I love James and Chelsea coming out to directly address their support for the strike whilst protecting themselves and their contracts. Although, after the end of august, I am very excited to see the content on the horizon. I very much enjoy indie horror and think that it could be fantastic for the Dead Meat team to shed some light to projects that fly under the radar that shouldn’t. A sort of bittersweet blessing in disguise. I will say that if you choose to tackle analog horror at any point, I cannot express how much I recommend the Mandela Catalog by Alex Kister. The man is a true inspiration to the world of horror. As are you guys!
17:00 I got a feeling the reasoning behind that is Disney might have a copyright on “Oh bother.” Even if it’s used in the original books too, there’s a chance Disney would argue “since we used it in our media, it’s still copyrighted until our Pooh enters Public domain.”
Is it really that surprising? After seeing how thoughtfully James handles sensitive and/or complex topics in his videos, my mind would be blown if he wasn't supporting the strike.
Love the Deadmeat channel and James but I hope the strikes fail, the companies go belly up and they all starved. Those writers been pumping out slop for about a decade now with the support of the Hollywood giants.

So if they replace writers, we can kiss any innovation in movies goodbye in exchange for an era of the same exact movies in different clothes.

Not for me, it wasn't! Why Winnie the Pooh? He's a good boy who wouldn't hurt a fly! Plus, he's the size of a stuffy. How the hell did he become a bulky slasher?!?! Besides, the premise makes no sense. Disney already had a movie where Christopher Robin left the wood for a long time. The Pooh crew didn't become monsters. They just got depressed! ROT IN TARTURUS, MOVIE!!!!
I'm hopeful that, if the plans for a sequel are more than a pipe dream, they learn their lesson from how this was received, and possibly go further with it, as opposed to "quickly throwing together trash to capitalize on a fleeting trend."
They had lightning in a bottle, and they never figured out how to uncork it. Damn shame.
@@smartboy201 they also didnt have enough money to uncork the lightning a lot of the complaints were poor lightning and bad acting easily fixed with more munzey

why
@@martymatic3575People's careers in movie making are at serious risk of being lost to AI, so unions are going on strike.
It's really worrying to me if studios start using AIs instead of writers. The AIs don't make original works, they just copy what they're given. So if they replace writers, we can kiss any innovation in movies goodbye in exchange for an era of the same exact movies in different clothes.

Hii may I ask what is the Sag Strike?
@@partyprinceyt7528writers and actors are striking because they're afraid of being replaced by AI, and frankly, with most modern entertainment, the AI would do better.
@@partyprinceyt7528 SAG is short for SAG-AFTRA, the actor's union, who are striking alongside the WGA (the writer's union) over their increasing exploitation by CEOs - 80% of all actors can't afford health care and a lot of writers have to take a second job to pay rent. Despite this, most studios besides A24 are refusing to concede to basic demands like promising to pay on time. Its fucked up and they deserve everything they're asking for, and I'm happy James and Chelsea agree!
