You mean you are Haole ? Don't worry . You are among those who can become "Hawai'ian at Heart" . YOu need no invitation ! Submerge yourself in the culture, language, music and especially pray for the islands to be returned to their people. No worry about Pele or any others. You have to decide based on your heart.
Kaleolani F. One haole Hawai'ian, singer, musician, hula dancer & lover of all that is Hawai'ian ! Welcome !

Made me cry! I've heard this song sung so many times in my 62 years on God's green earth….but to actually see the words in english with the song & dance give more meaning & understanding….. & LOVE for my islands & the people that fought & stood strong for our blessed queen & her willingness & defiance to keep her land. God bless her soul!

The native Hawaiian people are suffering today in Hawaii and no one cares. I moved to Alaska to escape the sadness of the native Hawaiian people who cannot afford to live in their own native land. There are a lot Polynesians from all over the Pacific moving to wild places like Alaska where I myself have lived happily for over 25 years tying flies and fly fishing the many wild rivers of Alaska for wild, native salmon and trout. I am originally born and raised in Papaikou on the Big Island of Hawaii. Imua!

@@MARISBENMusic as ur reading this it just got even worse with people not from their stealing land/buying up land causing many Hawaiians to get removed from Hawai'i. The government doesn't care Hawaiians are not their main problem it seems. All they care about is the military and foreign voices being spoken, they say they hate the way Hawai'i is and would want more. With this they destroyed greenery land making their hotels, houses(they say its affordable but no it isn't to the Hawaiians/locals it's more affordable to greedy selfish foreigners). Although the Hawaiians are still trying to fight back against the state to give back their land rightfully since it was illegally stolen in 1893 and as time went on, the more the Hawaiian lands started getting destroyed turning it into a huge city. And as you are reading this it will only get worse and I'm telling you Hawai'i is near death of its language and land. Help Hawaiians by not living their, kicking foreign business's out, having the right government that cares for the Hawaiian people, having more affordable housing. SAVE THE OLELO HAWAI'I( Hawaiian language)

I spent 9 days there. I loved it. When I got home, I kept getting home sick for the Islands. I believe I left part of me there when I left. I couldn't believe that these beautiful Islands had slum areas with the billions that flow through these islands. It's disgraceful.

In my opinion, this is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL song in the Hawaiian language. This performance was superb, especially the English translation.
I often wonder what would have happened to those beautiful islands if the USA didn't force abdication and annexation? Would Great Britain have taken over Hawaii? What about the early 1940s? Food for thought.

well we know counties like the Uk and Japan wouldn't have came and attacked us. however, i think the cold war may have led to an attack on hawai'i from Russia. china never really did much to Hawai'i besides trade and that was it.

I an Kanaka Maoli and I always cry during this song. My heart breaks and I can not get the words to come out. Auwe! I hope in my short time left on the Earth that the progress continues to IMUA! for the reclamation and world wide recognition of what the United States has done. It is evil that Congress, the President, and the terrible government of the USA will not right the wrong, the lies, the thievery of out lands. We don't need you money, the stones are enough. Look at the Hawaiian subjects that are kept from the lands, that are HOUSELESS! Start with Pokai Bay, give us that costal area, give us 1/2 of Kaneohe base, give us 2/3 of Scofield and 1/2 of Wheeler back. My people will make that land thrive, and grow food, and grow families, and grow shelters. And we don't need the Waikiki that the United States built. Send the tourist to Australia, and Japan, and to Alaska, and New York, and to Paris. You built concrete on top of our farm lands, desecrated our Mauna kea, and Haleakala, give it back. And now you must also fix Kahoolawe because we want that, too. U.S.A. you are greedy, you have made perhaps a quadrillion dollars off of our lands. Since you have fouled the harbors in Pearl Harbor, and abused the lands at Hickam, stay there and protect the islands now in perpetuity by staying there while we fix all the wrong you don't seem to have the stomach to fix. Do NOT CONTINUE to tell the people in your country that Hawaii is your Fiftieth State, that is an INSULT, IT IS A LIE, IT IS NOT TRUE. You need to educate Americans that the USA is occupying land that is NOT AMERICAN SOIL. WE ARE RECOGNISED in the Hague World Court, the United Nations, and have diplomatic ties to many, many nations around the world, and they know we are a sovereign nation. This is one of the biggest crimes of the last two hundred years. And while I feel bad for the Black citizens in America, you lousy Congress people will not even face the plight of the illegal over throw of our Hawaiian Nation, the illegal occupation of Hawaii, and condemn what the man Stevens did, or the illegal provisional government did to our Queen and our Hawaiian subjects. People of America, if you "love" Hawaii, help the Country and the Kingdom of Hawaii. History if Hawaii presented to you is FAKE, and a FRAUD. Help us, learn the truth, spread the word, study the TH-cam videos, research Dr. Keanu Sai, search Kanaka Maoli, search the Hawaiian Kingdom, and Hawaiian Queen Lili'uokalani. Oprah, you have land here, so open your heart, and give us a three hour prime time show, if you have a heart for the needy, start here in Hawaii.

Kaulana Nā Pua. Famous are the Flowers of Hawaii. (in answer to M. Alifgra) “Flowers” means “the people who blossomed here,” in 1893, the native Hawaiians. This is when the Christians of the U.S. and of the Missionary Party of Hawaii stole (there was never a treaty of annexation) the government from the Hawaiian monarchy. Hawaiians knew back then what friendship means to whites. The beloved presidents, McKinley and T. Roosevelt, stole Hawaii despite six treaties of friendship with the Queen, and pure Hawaiians are expected to disappear in this century, with no action in sight from any presidents since then. (The Democrat, Cleveland, was the only president to insist Hawaii be returned to the Queen, so the Republicans stalled until they got T. Roosevelt in. Sound familiar? Over a hundred years later and American Christians still agree to this playbook of iniquity in domestic and foreign policy.) To paraphrase the words of our Queen, the Christian whites were not satisfied with taking a whole continent, but set their greedy eyes on this tiny archipelago thousands of miles away from them in the Pacific. The truth hurts? The truth hurts us more.

Sort of the same with Native american Indians in the U.S.A except they are in reservations and live under poberty and drugs.Of coure not all of them. That is why it is best to find out the meaning of the songs in other languages other than English. Hong Kong is going over the taking over the Cantonese language. They are told that only Mandarin should be spoken only.
