This is a Metroidvania Zanny, you kind of WANT to go off the beaten path. That's how these games are meant to be played. Don't rush through it too much.

@@B1POL4Rgaming mostly Dota2 and Monster Hunter, but Elden Ring became my favorite game this year and Hollow Knight was for some reason recommended to me because of Elden RIng. The exploration, the intricite and mystical story and quests, the bossfights, the music (!!!!!), the growth of your own skills as you get better and understand the game more and more, all of these elements can be found in both games alike, this is why Hollow Knight as a first time experience now stands right beside Elden Ring in my personal ranking, followed by Sekiro and Lies of P, and Dishonored 1+DLC, also one of my favs even though its a completely different game.

Zanny go as far right down in dirtmouth as you can get. After defeating a boss you'll get: A shop at right side sells mask fragments(health), vessel fragments(soul space) and some charms A shop at left side that sells 6ish charms and 4 notches(spaces for using charms,the circles that go from light grey to jesus white light)
HK was like Dark Souls for me in the sense that I was moderately intrigued at first, but after a playing it for some hours, things just clicked and it became one of my favorite games
Genuinely one of if not the best metroidvanias, really hope Zanny goes through the game to its fullest, some of the DLC stuff are harder than any of the souls games (or video games in general really) in my experience but its one of the best experiences I've had in gaming.
aside from the 5th pantheon there is nothing too hard lol. nkg, pure vessel and 4th pantheon arent THAT hard, even any souls game gave me more trouble and I played hk way before any souls shit
One thing to note about the boss run backs, some of them are easy if you explore the area before the boss so you can make a shortcut. Other than that the run backs aren’t bad at all

if you jump you can attack downward in mid air and you can pogo off enemies and spikes and most obstacles but not the thorn vined you find the the green path
One thing that is important to learn in hollow knight is spells are stupid strong you can deal like 500 damage with one spell I think, might be less though a maxed upgraded nail deal somewhere between 20 and 40 damage, I forgot the number 19:23 if you want a lore video mossbag has a lore videos but I suggest not to look at any hollow knight lore or any video of it because this game is best when going in blind
To progress in the game you should go for the mantis claw which can make you wall jump to get there go to the bottom of the big room where you first got in tot the green area (greenpath) go down in the next room go to the bottom right then in the next room go down to the left in this area theres only one path to follow and that will lead you further down youll enter the fungal wastes and its a big room that lead you down hug the right wall a bit before you hit the bottom there should me a hallway with a bench after that go down and explore the place until you find a place called mantis village where you will find the mantis claws
you just stand in front of the guys with the shields for half a second and they attack, you can poke at them and run before their attack animation finishes
Zanny constantly getting the tiniest bit of confidence before self-sabotaging is the funniest thing
