I love my 2013. Everything is great but they cheeped out on the frame and it rusts super easy. Still most of the truck is bulletproof if you clean the rust.

I have a 2011 and i like mine for the most part but there are a few reasons why I’m going to sell it in the near future.
    1. Active fuel management. Hate it, causes oil consumption problems and kills your power.
    2. Throttle response. It is terrible. You can’t roll into the throttle when you want to pass or merge, you have to really put your foot into it.
    3. Turning radius. I think it’s the worst of the big 3.
    4. Transmission. It’s very annoying because it likes to stay in the high gears, when you need to pass be prepared to wait for it to find the right gear.

The fuel deactivation BS is the biggest problem with these trucks. It's funny that the guy on this video thinks it's cool 🤣

I'm so jealous about that console. I have the 2012 Cheyenne edition. I basically have a Kleenex box holder and 2 cup holders. Good thing I always need Kleenex.

How does cylinder deactivation work? Do the spark plugs and stop firing with the fuel injectors? Wouldn't that put more strain on the engine when 4 cylinders are moving and 4 aren't?
That is pretty cool idea though.

Faheem Jamaloodeen it works yes I don’t know exactly how it does besides the computer tells it to but they have problems and will smoke on some of them and it’s bad for the motor

They also close both the intake and exhaust valves meaning the cylinder wont suck in air or push air out. The only thing it does is compress and decompress the gases in the cylinder which has an equalizing efect. The only restriction the deactivated cylinders have is the friction between the pistons and the cylinder walls. If hope I was able to help you, if you have more questions about this I highly recommend a video by "Engineering Explained" about this subject.

If you buy one of these trucks I would suggest getting a tuner or a range deactivator I believe it is called to turn off the cylinder deactiviation. I know on the other silverados with this technology it causes a lot of wear and tear and some are lucky to make it to 120,000 miles without needing a new engine because of it.

Can you please show how to switch into 4×4 I just bought a 2013 chevy Silverado 1500 z71 and the dealership said that it wasn't 4x4 but im hearing other things.

    • @M4MED86

The most convenient, and concrete, way to tell is if you have the turn knob just to the right of the steering wheel on the front of the dashboard. The next best way is to look inside the "lower" glovebox. Inside the lid, you'll find the R.P.O. code label. Amongst all the codes.....if you see a "Z71" code, that's the 4×4 code. There's other ways, but those are the best

What's really cool is that the biggest problem with these trucks is that BS cylinder deactivation! It sucks and destroys your engine with time! And that 5 speed transmission sucks compared to the 4 speed old school one. Ask the people who really know vehicles. 2006 and older GM trucks are way better and more reliable and durable than this truck on this video guaranteed. Who cares about fuel economy on a big truck??? It's not a damn prius. What real truck drivers want is POWER.
