although i did NOT give any thumbs i do not like the approach. I tried ketogenic diet twice, everything did right, followed all rules, both times suppressed thyroid, T3 was very very low, was losing hair and was terribly tired and weak all the time, cholesterol went through the roof, more than doubled to over 400, developed what they called keto-rash which was like psoriasis, took me 3 months to heal after I stopped ketogenic diet, in some aspects i am still recovering a year after, so NO way i would ever do it again or recommend to anyone.
I am very pleased to see this information freely available on TH-cam. Thanks for bringing this valuable data to anyone who wants to help prevent this dreadful disease.
Thank you so much for this video! My mother was diagnosed last year with Alzheimer's at the age of 63. We have no family history of the disease. It has truly turned my family's world upside down. Thank you for all the work you do!
I’m so sorry. My husbands father got it in his late 50’s. He’s 65 now and is in assisted living. It’s so crazy because 65 seems so young. He was an alcoholic and lived a really rough life. His dad died in his eighties from the disease as well.
Dr Rhonda, your work is amazing. Scientist interviewing primary research scientists. You bring a whole new level to this and I'm always SO deeply grateful that you've come onto the scene. Just wow!
May I recommend for you to also interview doctors on the growth of our children and what they need both psychology nutritionally and physically during specific stages of growth!
Rhonda, I don't know how your videos don't get millions of views in a few months! Some of the best info, on some of the most important topics, often 'from the horse's mouth'! What more could anyone ask for! Thank you 😊
YOU SAVE LIVES. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the tireless hours you spend putting these interviews from top-notch experts on youtube for us ordinary people. I pray that you have peace and happiness In your life always for all the healthy/brilliant information you throw out to the public daily. You have changed the way I look at my health and others. Thank you again.
I got this book on Amazon kindle and do feel it is excellent. The lab tests recommended in his book are not covered by my public health care insurance...and I know they are very expensive. I don't even know if these tests are available in Canada and how much they really do cost. I am trying to figure out how to best include all of his ways of preventing even the slightest degree of decline despite not being able to afford/access these lab tests. I am so grateful that I became aware of this kind of therapy via the ketogenic diet and way of life and do find it very costly...it's frustrating to have the knowledge and desire without the wallet to match it.
Hi everyone. My dad passed away from Alzheimer's. His dad also, and now both of his sisters have it. I'm really afraid because I have a copy of APOE 4 from each parent, so that is of course super bad. My mom has mental illness and now dementia, she is in a nursing home. Super scary!!! I eat really healthy and take supplements... but also have been diagnosed with Lyme. I really need to take care of myself especially because I am single which is a little more scary. My prayers go out to anyone who has been through this as it is very hard and extremely heartbreaking.
If you have this diagnosis, please look into using methylene blue. We reversed my mom’s Alzheimer’s symptoms using Methylene Blue! This brings hope! There is a show on it posted at The Natural Health Researcher TH-cam channel.
@@WSelvig I do have that. I used it for a little while but quit. I had bought it because I have Lyme Disease. Thanks for the reply!! I would not know how much to take, etc. though
This was the most amazing interview and visual backup information I have seen with Dr Dale Bredesen. Thank you so much for sharing. So hopeful and inspiring.
This is so refreshing and gives me hope that the medical world is actually changing and not stuck on pushing medicine. Beautiful explanation of this complex condition, I am amazed how Dr Dale managed to bring this to our level, the overlay of definitions further clarify everything. thank you for keep bringing us these valuable interviews. I wish there is something to stop or reverse Parkinson's disease , my father is suffering so bad and I feel so helpless.
'gives me hope that the medical world is actually changing and not stuck on pushing medicine' . Well it is still an extreme minority in the medical/psychiatric field. Unfortunately.
The discovery of you on JRE's podcast has led me down a path where I know my APOE status (4/3) but at the same time learning what I can do to prevent the onset (23 yrs old from Sweden). Just wanna say thanks Rhonda for providing a platform where people can learn and optimize their health. Awesome work you're doing!
Thus far this is my #1 Dr Rhonda Patrick video (and I think I may have seen them all at least once). I thought the longevity discussion with Dr. Valter Longo from USC was amazing, but this one on Alzheimer's research by Dr. Bredesen was even more fascinating. Thank you so much for your never ending series on a wide variety of topics that are incredibly relevant to all of us in our search for good science based information on health and disease. Ordered his book already and can't wait to start reading it.
We have this book, admire and respect this man for his research and hard work in helping to get the word out. He even reads and answers our group Facebook posts. Thank you for helping to get the word out and educate the physicians who need then new science.
Vitamin b3 defficiency causes dimentia, pellegra was due to lack of b3 in a high-corn diet in the 1490's, were in corn syrup, the daily minimum of b3 to someone that low is like a daily drop of water to a man rescued walking around a dessert dying of thirst. B3 niacin: niacinamide: nicotinic acid, the body can't make ATP in the muscles without it, nicotine works in the same way, that's why the smoker who got some nicotine in a break doesn't feel hungry all of the sudden, and why vitamin b3 deficient purple find themselves eating more, their body is desisted looking for b3 in those potatoes and tomatoes, and so people who smoke are really addicted to vitamin b3 and nicotine is a straight stream of a replacement fuel, it's all the waste that's added as a fertilizer or bug repeller or flavor additive or preservative that kills everyone who smokes Every Alzheimer brain studied was gray with aluminium absorption, but that's what we spray for cloud seeeding in the air, the cure is identifying the cause of the disease and prevent exposure, we all know alum. Is bad for the body, but instead we give money to find a treatment program not really stop the cause, instead they start another cause and then ask if you want to give money to find the cure, and the cause, well that's just the advertising campaign.
Watch some parts twice - very informative. As said by another comment, I also loved that you put all this information up on text on the screen which allows us to pause and take notes.
Thank you so much for all the information you disseminate! I became disabled from numerous inflammatory based issues, was taking 11 pharmaceuticals, walking with a cane and mostly bed ridden at age 45! Information such as this as motivated me to construct my diet along my my needs and now I take ZERO meds. I, as you, do not follow a KETO diet and I am basically vegan with occasional cheese or maybe piece of cake made with egg BUT I do not religiously follow anything when evidence can point to the contrary. Now I wished I had concentrated more on biochemistry than computer science. Thank you again, Levi Patrick
Feet do help with the running so it is only natural. Dr. Patrick is a superwoman a walking medical encyclopedia. The amount of her memory bank is tremendous and superhuman. Totally impressive. I too was referred to as medical encyclopedia on feet in my medical school days. Now may be at 65 I am slowing down a bit
Wow what a tremendous interview! I could listen to Dr Dale Bredesen all day long and will certainly be reading his book. This really is leading edge information and research. Sorry to all of those peeps chasing a single pill a day for a fix to all health outcomes, as it isn't going to fix this one!
Wow! Thank you Dr. Patrick! Can't wait to go home and take some notes. You are a pioneer in changing the way we think about health and for that I appreciate all of your hard work.
Such a good channel on ageing and related topics The name Fitness fooled me thinking that it is another channel on fitness, nutrients and whatnot. But it turns out to be some serious science and it is great.
Wow. Dr. Patrick is so knowledgable of the topics she interviews of each doctor on her video shows! She asks very important questions! My only suggestion would be would be for "Dr. Patrick to always to include in the videio topic, " with host Rhonda Patrick, PhD.".
I would be willing to pay someone to give the condensed version of these videos by simply telling me what NEW HABITS to implement and what OLD HABITS to eliminate. I don’t have time to watch these and I trust her.
There are so many variables in each individual, what is good for one is not necessarily good for another. I recommend making the time to watch these, even over time. There is no quick way to take in all the info.
egal do you have paypal? Thank you. Also, how are we suppose to stay in mild ketosis if we have to limit our animal product intake? Plant based fats are few and far between. Very interesting though. Thank you for synopsis.
Question for Dr Bredesen.... I am a physician following a plant based diet - question for you is concerning the LCHF diet - the longevity of the Okinawans is well documented - their diet was as far from the LCHF diet as you can get - they consumed large quantities of sweet potatoes, seaweed, tofu and small amounts of pork. What is your thought? Also has anyone been on a LCHF diet long enough to know the risk of cancer?
You can do LCHF and not consume any animal products. So, my question to you is if you’re having plant base fat, like avocados, coconuts, nuts and seeds, then would that fat cause cancer in a LCHF fat diet? Is fat bad no matter what? I know that the Eskimos have been studied and are the opposite of the study you’re referring to and they have not been struck by cancer ravaging their population. For what I’ve seen what all good diets have in common is to stop consuming process, refined foods. Eat organic and make sure your animals where raise humanly.
@@bibilove6277 Eskimos have a high rate of heart attacks and stroke from the high saturated fat. "In the latest study, researchers at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute took a fresh look at the original Greenland studies that started the myth. It turned out that Bang and Dyerberg did not study the native populations directly. Rather, they relied on death reports and hospital admission figures, which, in rural areas, turned out to be less than reliable. In fact, data collected over many decades showed that coronary artery disease is common in Greenland's Inuit population. Heart disease is as frequent -- or even more so -- among native northern populations as it is for other populations. Strokes are particularly common, and life expectancy overall was found to be about a decade shorter among native populations. "
Hi Rhonda, I really appreciate all your research into cognitive function, dementia, alzheimers. My mother is showing symptoms of alzheimer's and I found Dr Bredesen's research intriguing. It's 5 years since this video now. With current research, will you be revisiting this protocol? Any thoughts or updates on the success (or lack of) five years later? Thanks for all you do!

Wow, I am so glad I found this video. My paternal grandmother had Alzheimer’s and my Dad currently has it. My maternal Grandfather had Alzheimer’s and my mother as well. I believe it is vital that I get a cognoscopy, to determine my risk. I have already been on a Keto diet for the past year, using grass fed meats and eggs, along with wild salmon and sardines. So hopefully I am on the right path, planning to get Dr Bresendens book too-
Dr.Patrick, thank you for bringing so much information to us....Our mother was one of the Americans that got Alzheimer's every 38 seconds....Like everybody that has this affect them or their loved ones, we asked, "WHY?"...Here is her story...1st, I am not an Alzheimer's specialist, just an eye-witness in the discussion...I have been asked to elaborate... I am an M.D..My wife was an R.N. We were both pro-vaccines...My mother and sister were R.N's..They were both pro-vaccines....My 2 brothers were M.D.'s...They were both pro-vaccines...Our mother was an R.N. who was the Head Nurse and ran the largest ER in our medical center..She slept well, exercised, active, and ate well..She was young at heart and ran circles around younger nurses...They had her take 8-9 vaccines to ''catch-up'' with the newest ''updated'' CDC schedule to keep her nursing job after a long career in Real Estate...After her vaccines, she got severe ''brain fog'' within days, then lost her ability to dial her phone or push the elevator buttons or start her car ...She went into diapers and then hospitalized and died a terrible, tragic death, drooling and unable to walk, talk, eat or recognized any of her family...None of the specialists and consults could tell her or us what ''just happened'' but all the specialists told us it was ''NOT'' from those vaccines....It was called the ''worst case of acute, aggressive dementia of ''UNKNOWN'' cause the doctors had ever seen''....Folks, what killed our mother just weeks after her vaccines were all from her fatal doses of neurotoxic aluminum and mercury ingredients from those vaccines..She left behind her husband, 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and now 7 great grandchildren... I started a FB site called Vaccine Support Group ( the link is not shown per this site's policy ) in their name..
Research "Thimerosal". It is in vaccines to conserve the shots. It's basically mercury. Your mother probably got an severe mercury overdose. I'm really sorry for that. To get rid of excessive mercury in the body an oral chelator protocol like the one from Dr. Andrew Cutler is appropriate.
Something similar is happening to my mother after having the Pfizer covid 19 jab, she has mild/moderate dementia that became acutely severe within weeks, had to be hospitalised with doctors not being able to determine what caused this severe deterioration
So perhaps....thinking simply again: 1) fast intermittently; ie: stop eating after ~5pm...and do NOT go to bed until at least 3 hours after the last meal, 2) stop ALL sugary foods,...spongy cakes, cereals, and just simple sugar nonsense, 3) exercise until you get to feel some endorphins,....but not until you're fighting mentally to keep going. 4) give the bodies mechanism(s), time to work, adjust and "clean up house' daily...and live 5-10 years longer with stronger, more resilient mitochondrial prowess and less instigation from inflammation and it's effects. Ok,...Pay me. LOL.
54:00, if I well understood castile soap (made of vegetal oil) is an EMOLLIENT soap.... but what about NON emollient soaps? Do they have to be without any kind of oil? :/
He recommended NON-emollient soap in order to wash off the hydrophobic molecules that you just sweated out. An emollient, essentially an oil or "moisturizing" agent, would tend to absorb them in the layer that clings to the skin, so they would be re-absorbed. Castile soap may have varying amounts of oil in it, so it probably isn't the best choice. I'd use something that was more like a detergent. You just want it to rinse off and not leave any oils. You could moisturize with lotion after you're dried off if you want.
The sulforaphane in broccoli sprouts may help reduce mercury and other toxins.. I feel that I have no words to thank Dr. Patrick enough for the fine work she is doing.
Are there any doctors in the UK following this protocol? I would love to get tested, I've worked with alot of toxic solvents for many years and not always with the best ppe. I'm sure that has affected my mind in numerous ways. I really don't fancy dementia in any form. Brilliant video by the way.
Thank you for putting so much effort into this video. It's very helpful. Especially the running footnotes. Saves me the trouble of looking up everything into the paper again and again :')
The discussion and relationship between chronic inflammation and neurodegeneration is spot on. I have published several books about this relationship and how funneled mistake prone immune arsenal into interstitial spaces increases rather then decreases inflammation which in the case of AD involves the secretion of amyloid by astrocytes. and microglia. #Rejuvenation(2017) #Trafficking(2018) #Rejuvenation2.0(2019)

Anytime i see comments that say "this is incredible information" or "the interviewer is so sweet"I have to be on my toes to see if they are selling anything before taking in information seriously
Professor Bredesen mentions using a non-emollient soap after sweating (Castile) ... but no mention of non-emollients on the internet that I can see. Can anyone expand on this topic please?
Thanks for sharing this remarkable information. We literally are what we eat. For those who are on a path to becoming more healthy, via diet and nutrition , but lack the clinical resources to gauge our progress, it would be great to have an index of resources which can be accessed from the ether.
Dont rely upon the anti-neurodegenerative diet, rely a lot more on staying active and fight sedentariness and cognitive reserve building. Role of diet is ambiguous unreliable and hard to study so it is not well established relative to the physical and mental activity. It is popular because food can be purchased with cash and the other two take lot more effort. We have surplus cash as we habitually multiply effort by burning fossil fuels such that in a way the burning of fossil fuels is causing a lot of human morbidity and fueling dementia epidemic. While it seems that it would be simple talk to switch eating habits that is not true either. Humans are strongly emotionally attached to their diets and going on diets produces enough distress that compliance is a major hurdle. Going on any specific diet is about as hard as quitting smoking or stopping the gym visits but because it happens gradually and more subtly it does not get noticed as clearly as lighting up the cigarettes and not going to the gym.

About a year ago, I made a list of the tests Dr Bredesen recommends and took them to my doc (Integrative) and asked if she would run all the labs covered by Medicare.
What is the name of the soap he said we should use.? Anyone can tell me.

@nature2rule my point is there are cases of people using ketosis to treat parkinsons. From your previous reply you indicate you are also aware.
Was only going to watch a little of it and continue later. 58 minutes in I still can't stop listening. Very interesting stuff.
This is deep!
This Dr is smart. It is clear the man has been doing some research...
We thank you Dr!
Dr. Bredesen's clear and logical speaking just shows he is the best scientist!
Gratzz how did you found out?
Thanks! The 23andme test. It was a good 3 month wait but definitely worth it.

There is a mistake in subtitles at 50:02. It's citicoline that's needed to make synapses, not acetylcholine!
The typist misheard the word so she mistyped acetylcholine as citicoline
We have this book, admire and respect this man for his research and hard work in helping to get the word out. He even reads and answers our group Facebook posts. Thank you for helping to get the word out and educate the physicians who need then new science.

Vitamin b3 defficiency causes dimentia, pellegra was due to lack of b3 in a high-corn diet in the 1490's, were in corn syrup, the daily minimum of b3 to someone that low is like a daily drop of water to a man rescued walking around a dessert dying of thirst. Every Alzheimer brain studied was gray with aluminium absorption, but that's what we spray for cloud seeeding in the air, the cure is identifying the cause of the disease and prevent exposure, we all know alum.
Great questions, Rhonda. It takes experience and intelligence to ask in the way that you do.

Wow.

Thank you for synopsis.
egal there should be a subreddit for this lol. Some heath subreddit where users give a brief synopsis of these long videos.
Thank you for sharing another fascinating conversation, the added notes are fantastic, helping to carry anyone along.

So perhaps....thinking simply again:
1) fast intermittently; ie: stop eating after ~5pm...and do NOT go to bed until at least 3 hours after the last meal,
2) stop ALL sugary foods,...spongy cakes, cereals, and just simple sugar nonsense,
3) exercise until you get to feel some endorphins,....but not until you're fighting mentally to keep going.

Good question. What is an example of a specificNON-emollient soap - fels naptha?
So regarding sauna use and it's benefits, which is better, traditional sauna or infrared sauna?

18:37 Key aspects of anti-neurodegenerative diet
@@sleepsmartsmashstress740 What is cognitive reserve building? Thanks.

Not every healthcare provider is up to speed on this topic and all the related tests. Not only that, insurance coverage is getting very selective.
About a year ago, I made a list of the tests Dr Bredesen recommends and took them to my doc (Integrative) and asked if she would run all the labs covered by Medicare. I think it took over 30 vials of blood. It did help identify areas to work on. After 1 year, I was able to see major improvements in several areas.
