There is a difference between good and bad exploration. I like a good video game resource grind. It’s not too tough, and you feel like you’re getting something. In something like NMS, you walk around and find rocks and metals that you collect. It’s hard to translate that into TTRPGs. The players aren’t going to randomly find unattended resources. Not any that matter to them anyway. And in a video game you are doing something tactile and semi active. Piloting your little guy around the map. Players tend to be passive listeners while exploring, unless there’s a tactical map. Breadcrumb encounters-combat RP or just found objects are great, but unless there’s a map, it doesn’t much seem to matter to my players exactly the coordinates at which they are placed.
Well TH-cam, at least this game DOES actually have something to do with this video, unlike when someone is talking about Pathfinder and you stick the Magic the Gathering game on it! Someday maybe you'll get it right!!!
I have to come back to this one maybe. I'm bummed not to have two basic liches, that's one reason my attention span is low. The other is that No Man's Sky is STILL the epitome of boring AF. Yes, they put quests in it (calling it a 'story-line' is a bit too far to me); but there still is no reason to do the questing except to check off the quests. I love exploring. In Pathfinder 2e, if you're not in an encounter or downtime, you're in Exploration mode. It's where you spend the majority of your time!
Cheers!
