Forcing it works for me as well =) I find that if I start off dull and mundane and keep with the narrative for long enough, the symbolism and bits of what I'm really feeling in my gut begin to slip through and then the writing becomes adventurous and effortless from there and writing becomes a joy again instead of feeling like a chore lol. The longer you write, the more will come out, so force yourself and be patient. The rest will come =) That's my advice =)
I am let's say a wanna be artist and i followed Anne's advice. I usually find myself in front of some scribblings and I used to let it be or throw it away but I tried forcing them and I'm surprised myself what great drawings emerged from some pieces of crap. The hole process was nerve-breaking though. I was like hate it; hate it; it sucks; hate it; hate it; it's awful; hate it; hate it; love it; done. Thanks for your advice Anne, books and for helping me get closer to an artist.
Listening to Louie talk in Interview With The Vampire makes me want to write sometimes, other times its watching Dexter and listening to his inner dialogue
With the type of novel im doing Epic Military navy seal type music helps me stuff like you would hear in the movie The Rock or Black Hawk down or the series 24
There's no better writing advice on TH-cam than Anne's videos...thanks, Anne
