    Seen and the Unseen was the first podcast i listened to (probably like 5-6 years ago). My core views on economics was almost entirely shaped by Amit's early episodes. I like the guy.
    But the only complaint I have is the long long discussion about the background and how the guests grew up. I don't really want to know all that. Like, come on, why on earth would i want to know anything about people like Zubair😅
    I have kinda moved on from Seen and the Unseen these days. But still check it out once in a while.
    The 8 hr long episode "Life and the times of the Indian Economy" is a masterpiece and i highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know about Indian economy.

    Agree with where Amit is coming from but I don’t think he’s aware of the dissonance in his values outlook. For instance, saying I don’t support bjp for its anti Muslim stance and not pointing out the source for the bigotry which is the fabric of many laws and implementation of them doesn’t seem right. You cannot be mad at Hindus for saying temples are under govt control and then lashing out at personal law. You need to support something along the lines of UCC otherwise the liberal values you care about go for a toss.

    With all due respect couldn't get more than half way through because the guest with all that knowledge still ends up sounding exactly like me from 3-4 years ago when I justified my support for Congress/anti BJP stance and was dismissive of most things done by bjp .

    When Amit said about Pro Choice and Pro Life, this idea came back to my mind. But I never got an answer for it.
    People who sees this can speak their views in the comments. And if Kushal sees this and find this question relevant, maybe he could do a monologue on it.
    The question is :
    People support women to abort their pregnency by saying 'Her Choice'.
    But doesn't the father of the child has rights?
    I get that it is her body and she has the right on her body. But the father has the right on the child. Even in the reverse case also it's the same. If the father wants to abort it, it is still her choice. But once the baby comes out, the state puts the whole responsibility on the father. Isn't there a moral issue here?
    Why are the men always forced to perform the responsibility but often discriminated when it comes to gender rights?

    • @ajithzam1
      @ajithzam1 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I suppose ultimately since pregnancy affects physical and medical aspects of the woman’s body, she ultimately should have the right to make her own medical decisions. Regarding the state forcing the father, I’m not sure what the exact laws are but ultimately I believe both parents have a shared responsibility and the state should reasonably enforce that

      @@Mundarapilly maybe state should not put father responsible, then males would be flirting and fooling around incessantly. And maybe father should have the right to decide in abortion, then they should take full responsibility for child (BUT. can they milk feed the baby, do they have pheromones communicating with newborn, meanwhile there are just very few species where man takes any responsibility for the baby).
      it is bit complicated, for it involves lot different degree of emotions for different couples atleast we do need a device which can give us magnitude of love each parent have for the unborn, yet taking in that human emotions change with time). yeah but overall the current laws just lead to a purchase of a good quality condom.

    Kushal’s attempts to match Amit and his drive to appear intelligent can be quite grating. His tendency to insert himself into crucial moments while virtue signalling is frustrating. Amit tries to maintain a distance, which adds a hilarity to Kushal’s efforts to emphasise their similarities. While Amit’s ability to absorb and articulate vast amounts of information is impressive, it also seems motivated by a need to validate himself. This shows how human behaviour, despite being studied ad nauseum is often driven by the insatiable desire for recognition and acknowledgment. EGO.
    Similarly, the clash between the two main religious ideologies in India is profound: one challenges personal choice and consent, while the other champions freedom of expression. The choice is between universal harmony and submission.
