"Thomas, since one grain of sand fell out of your trucks, you will not get a new coat of paint EVER again". Sorry, seeing this range I need to quote that. It is safe to say that these models are in the right hands. Great work.
I'm really happy you love your engines. It's always nice to see people in the hobby post videos like this one. If you want to liveing up your models even more, I suggest giving them white running boards and the appropriate colors to their boiler bands. But that's just my thought. You don't have to do that if you don't want to. They are your engines at all.
This was a lot of fun to watch! My first model trains I ever had were these two engines with all the rolling stock and accessories. I was a very happy and ecstatic five year old and had a blast running them. I sold them a long time ago as I mainly focus on HO, N and OO9. Even though I prefer Bachmann’s G scale offerings personally the short-lived Lionel G scale range will always have a soft place in my heart as it was my first exposure to model trains as a child. Great work restoring these!
This was a really fun little project! I'm glad you got them working again. Idk if you've made an update on these guys since you posted this but if you haven't I hope you find suitable roofs for them! Also, it's a good thing you didn't use the railpower 1370. You don't need to plug in all 4 connectors to the tracks, just the bottom 2 that say DC power. But that controller is notorious for damaging model trains. It's killed 2 of my engines and one company outright says to not use it as it will damage the models. Glad you could find a lionel controller!
Very nice, you fixed these 2 up yet here I am destroying the 2 I have :) Just be careful when running these, they like to eat worm gear that connects to the motor.
This brings me some memories nice to remember having the couplers that were American however if you have a 3D printer you can print the tops off or if you had somebody who has a 3D printer who can help you with that
Awesome video! I watched this like 20 times in a day because it's one of those videos that never get old and I keep watching! Great job and keep up the good work!
I bought this for my son. I have a similar issues. The Thomas set has the brown colored tracts, a different power supply (but it works), and I do have the covers for all the stock. I do not have the other accessories. However, the screw/neck connecting the wheels assembly on Clarabelle has snapped. The other issue is that Thomas is moving like James did. We did notice some electrical smell of dust being burned or zapped when running. I have a couple of questions. First, would silicone or dielectric grease spray be better in trying to revitalize the motor? Would it better to take the motor out and clean out instead? Second, The attached peg that holds the wheel assembly to the Clarabelle, is better to use super glue, epoxy, or a longer screw with a a washer on the side would be better? Thanks
Hey could you please send me some info on that controller? I’m actually looking for one for a Thomas set my grandfather had bought me when I was a child
Quite enjoyed watching this. Oddly enough my hobby shop actually has both the re-released version of Thomas' set and the accessories set mint in the packages. Not sure how long they've been sitting there, but I'd assume since the late 90's. I myself got into collecting G scale 10 years ago and in that time have acquired numerous models, one if which happens to be Lionel's James. If you ever get the chance, feel free to check out my channel as I do have several videos showing off my G scale models.
Make gordon maybe Henry too you just need to get 3 James 1 Thomas and model a custom boiler and cab you can ease James's boiler for the boiler you can use James's cab for the cab and your done
You know Ben even though you already made duplicates of the roofs Because you finally obtain them I could recommend replacing them with cardboard roofs like I did with my Edward I'm saying this if they brake and you don't want to go through the Struggle of fixing them
What i find some people do if they want a layout but don't have the space they create a continuous sellf around there room and then put the trains on that

watching restorations make me happy knowing that people take time out of their lives just to fix something that they are passionate about
I find this Lionel G Scale Thomas series you've made very rewatchable.

DUDE, That is like the coolest train restoration ever, considering that set was from the 90,s!
I just found the same Thomas set....my son loved it!

4:00 James is happy to be cleaned up
Also, white vinegar can get rid of a lot of corrosion
solid video man! very charming models
Getting my very own Lionel thomas next week, so I LOVE watching this video in what to expect when I get it.

Nice restoration. Ya don’t see a lot of videos with these models nowadays
Very nice, you fixed these 2 up yet here I am destroying the 2 I have :)

I've watched this video atleast 10 times
3:44 You could also 3D-print a replacement roof for Thomas and James if you had a 3D printer
*GENIUS*
Or just use flipping paper
This brings me some memories nice to remember having the couplers that were American however if you have a 3D printer you can print the tops off or if you had somebody who has a 3D printer who can help you with that
The Railpower transformer's "4 connectors" are actually 2 for each side (2 for the tracks, 2 for accessories)
You need to this more often, this is awesome!
Also, you could probably put a small amount of wd-40 on the sound remote to get rid of some of the corrosion
Those sets were fun. We still have the James set. Will need to get it out and see if it runs.
Can we get an update?
Cheers 🥂 keep up the good work
Dude im very impressed
Nice

HO is also my preferred scale as well man!
Why is this video so satisfying?
Restoration is always satisfying!
Cool video! I wish I had these two G-scale train sets because they look so awesome!
Me too!
What do you think of the current Lionel G scale Thomas Tank Engine set?
I think they look nice
BenTenLife Does that mean that you’re gonna get the new Thomas And Friends “G Scale” set?
Wow your lucky you have those toys
You could 3d model and 3d print the roofs.
That's Awesome.😃👍
I dig this big time
Hey could you please send me some info on that controller? I’m actually looking for one for a Thomas set my grandfather had bought me when I was a child
Bachmann made some Thomas And Friends Large Scale Models which are way better than the small ones
Awesome dude that’s amazing
Im watching this after i got the g scale thomas yesterday for Christmas
found Lionel o gauge Harold on ebay for $40.
This channel is awesome!
youre only supposed to connect 2 of the railpower 1370's power things. the other 2 are accessories
Maybe use the roof of your custom L.B.S.C thomas and original James models

I don’t think the limited warranty thing still exists! Lol
could be useful for a custom
hey man do you need thomas roof????
James's pilot wheels are derailed on the the thumbnail.
How the hell did you notice that
@@Mm2_for_life2yeah good question how did he notice that

@@Thompsonandfriends wdym

Did You ever fix the sound system?
How did you fix james, mine is doing the same thing.
You know Ben even though you already made duplicates of the roofs
Because you finally obtain them I could recommend replacing them with cardboard roofs like I did with my Edward I'm saying this if they brake and you don't want to go through the Struggle of fixing them
What website did you use?
Ho thomas is good 👍 but and percy is God and I love you good bey
Maybe you can use cardboard and duct tape to do the roofs but then again I need to superglue the hot glue it on
What i find some people do if they want a layout but don't have the space they create a continuous sellf around there room and then put the trains on that
The rail power controller is for ho scale ones and the red Lionel controller is James’s controller
My mom got me a lionel fright train set for christmas
Hay I got a train set like that
I mean you could've just bought 8 wheels of the same size as the bigger ones you got. So the trucks could have even wheels, instead of just guessing
Can I please have the Thomas and James set?
Ew a beggar
Yes
When will you come back on TH-cam
The original ones had brown track and a black controller
W
More vidz
