A lot of G scale live steam locomotives used radio control, but some use RCT.

The engines were track powered, they would disconnect one of the wires in and engine didn't need to move. Those batteries and controllers were for the eyes. Great model all in all though

I suggest using Traxxas latrax RC components. They are a lot more high-quality, and more reliable than what you are probably using right now.
