I started riding a little over 30 years ago. The overwhelming majority of that has been on cruisers but I’ve always loved SportBikes from a distance.
A couple years ago I got my first SportBike.
A 2003 954CBR RR that was in like new condition that had a single owner for 17+years.
It’s a bike that is worthy of cult status.
I’d still be on it if someone hadn’t run a redlight and totaled it.
Now I’m on a 06 CBR1000RR and I love it too.
To each their own but I don’t know if I’m ever going back to Cruisers.

at 70 years old..... cruiser everytime. Not sure my body would even bend to ride a sport/street fighter. 1999 Excelsior Henderson 55000 miles.
To a degree, sport bikes are inherently dangerous, from what I see. Brand new riders believe they are invincible and bullet proof, with absolutely no experience. No not everyone, but a large number.
Yes Heavy cruisers crash, all the same with inexperienced riders. But sport bike marketing seems to promote tech/hi performance riding.

I myself am rather fond of my neo-retro looking crotch rocket.
I love the '70s look of the Moto Guzzi V7, maybe I'll get one of those too, but handling-wise my naked Honda ticks the boxes for me.

Eh, I'd check with the manufacturer on the 3 minutes. Usually they recomment no longer than about 10 seconds before setting off and just riding easy for 5-10 minutes.
Reason being, just sitting at idle your engine will warm up unevenly and over time that'll cause more damage. Once the oil is covering all the surfaces (a few seconds in) it's fine to put the engine under *light* load.

Both, but slightly different: a Victory Vision, better than a cruiser to cruise and to travel, and a KTM Duke 890 R, which is not quite a crotch rocket, but better for me for sport and closer destinations. At least at my 71 years... 🙂
