I love how you don’t say something like, “Boys, not while I’m recording”. You are a mom first and foremost. Plus they live there and they are doing as they are suppose to be doing. Sharing a want with you is darling and how you paid attention to them and didn’t tell them not to disturb you is so endearing to me.
I was thinking the exact same thing. She doesn’t do a lot of film cuts because of noises or interruptions. It’s real life which makes us feel like we’re a friend stopping by for a visit. 🧡 Lorie 😊
New to your channel . We live in Ecuador and I can and bake every chance I get, grow herbs, fruits ,flowers and just started a small raised bed for lettuce, and cucumbers. I just put up a few jars of pickled beets, fruit and vegetables here are abundant and cheap so it is enjoyable to have these foods ready to use. I’ve got a bowl of dough rising now for my hamburger buns. Can’t wait to try!
One of many things that I get from your videos is that being home need not be undesirable. The world teaches us that to be happy we have to leave home-- as in "retail therapy" or "taking vacations". I've never felt that way. I could stay home and not leave. And many who I know make me feel like I'm the abnormal one. I am 66. And how the world raises kids and conducts its existence has always struck me as wrong. Maybe it's just wrong for me. So I choose to be home and yes I choose to cook from scratch. My quality of life is very high on little money because of that. And I don't have to go to a restaurant to feel like I'm living life! Your videos re-inforce that. Thank-you.
I am 86 and love being in my home! I miss not cooking for my family, but they are all married and have their own homes and family. I’ve always loved being a wife and mother, now grand mother and great grand mom!! Very blessed!!
Yes, please, to alfredo! I make my own already, but I love to learn everything you have to teach as you often use techniques that I haven’t yet perfected. Thank you, RuthAnn, for the time and effort you put into teaching and sharing your skills with us. You’re by far my favorite YT channel to learn from. ☀️
Maxwell has a beautiful smile. He wanted to try a new way and it was a lesson learned. He seems a little bashful about being filmed. You are a good mom. I have made hamburger buns and we love. Thank you for sharing your recipe and family.
I had already tried making hot dog buns with your hamburger dough and I had all kinds of sizes! I was thinking I need to buy a scale, and a hot dog bun pan so I could get more uniform sizes. I never would have thought about using the canning ring so size (amount of dough) absolutely genius!
My husband use to be a store bought hamber bun guy. Im talking the gross cheap ones. I kept trying to tell him its justr because he hasnt had real ones. So I made yours one night and now he wont eat anything but. He was like you are right, I dont know how I liked the other ones these are great. Thank you for helping me get my husband off JUNK food. Now all I have to say is its Ruths recipe and he trys it lol
Even though I looked at the title and thought… I’ll never make these … 😅 my kids are grown and gone, I live alone. I know that because it’s Your video it will have so much more than content and value than ‘hot dog buns’. Thank you 🙏 ♥️ (Now I want a hot dog).
I love love love to see you in the kitchen with your boys and showing you stopping and interacting with them - so sweet! I am a Momma to boys and there’s always a lot of stops and interruptions in the kitchen but I love it. Especially when they want to help me. Thank you for another sweet video! ❤ Sending love from Tennessee!
I love Saturday mornings with the Zimmermans! It was good to see Maxwell in this video! I know he is camera shy but he seems to be getting better, just as he is learning to make a good fire. You sure had a house full of kids when you were helping with corn for the friends! Great video, RuthAnn. Have a good week.
I love how you are so busy trying to make a video, and the kids are clanging and banging away cleaning the kitchen the one has a advertisement of a money he wants to see, and you take the time to take it from him and actually look at it. You give each one your undecided attention even if it is only a half minute, and they go on about their way satisfied with the answer you gave.
I made hot dog buns with your recipe last night. I used a huge square cutter and cut it in half with a pizza cutter and we had perfect sized hot dog buns. I said a quick prayer of thankfulness for you while I did it as I always appreciate people who share their gift with others. I especially appreciate your no nonsense way of writing out recipes as I get distracted easily in the kitchen.
I make the hamburger buns all the time we love them!! My goal this fall is to begin making most of Our bread products You are an inspiration! Sound of hope was a wonderful movie! We have 6 adopted from foster care along with our 3 bios.
I wanted to get on here to tell you Thank you! This is the way we should all be living..a friend told me about you and im sharing your videos to family and friends
Good morning Ruthann I so enjoy waking up and have my morning coffee and enjoying your Saturday morning visit with us!! I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I really like your apron that color really looks good on you! I’m going have to try and make one from your pattern. It’s the nicest that I have seen anywhere. 😊
Yes! I click on her immediately when I see she’s posted something new! Ruthann and a cup of coffee makes a good start to my Saturday! I also LOVE that, even when filming, she will stop a moment and address her kids, look at what they are showing her, or answer their question. Good parenting, Real life, real people portraying themselves as they truly are….
You are so real Ruth Ann. You want to show viewers what you have learned from a lifetime of experience. I appreciate that your family supports you in your journey to educate. Please thank them from me, a grandmother from CA. Just for your information, I’m not only hungry for hot dogs after watching, I’m hungry for homemade buns. That’s my menu for tomorrow!
Spot On Ruthann, I just did some things today like making up a bunch of french toast and pancakes, waffles and precooked bacon, I also do a breakfast casserole that I divide up into individual portions and single wrap them for the freezer, tomorrow I will be doing calzones/pizza pockets, and some days this week I will be doing ravioli, egg rolls and oriental dumplings and all this is in the freezer for a quick meal, I always have pot pies, runza's, precooked rice in the freezer for a quick stir fry, as well as my canned soups, chili and beans of all sorts to do quick meals with. I love your family and how you are raising them down to earth.
I love my Bosch mixer. I have had it now probably 20 years. I got it used and it is a workhorse. I have used my recipe for 5+ whole wheat loaves for all those years. the persons who had it before me would bake 15 plus loaves a week. well loved and going strong. I will probably pass it on to may grand daughter one day soon.
Good Saturday morning Ruth Ann! You always have inspirational advice. Even though I'm an old Grandma, I can learn from you. Thank you! I know I've repeated this often, but I love that your family life is included in the videos! ❤Patsy
I prefer your hamburger bun recipe over others I've tried, and love the method of rolling out the dough and cutting the rounds with a jar ring. Finally my buns are evenly sized. I've always struggled with shaping hot dog buns, so can't wait to try your tip using a ring for that too. Thank you!
This is my go to bun recipe! I use wide mouth and regular rings to make them for adults and our littles. We keep them in the freezer as a staple. Any leftovers get made into garlic bread, croutons, and breadcrumbs. You’re a gem!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!!!!
My family loves the burger bun recipe. I am trying the hot dog buns today. I took a class on brioche dough yesterday so I made 24 burger bun and 12 hot dog buns from the dough I made. Basically it is the same dough but with alnmost a cup of butter kneaded in a small chunk at a time. We will see how they come out. Thank you for all you do. These videos are the highlight of my Saturday morning.
RuthAnn you make everything you do in cooking so easy to follow. You have such wonderful children, their always so helpful. You have such a kind and smooth voice when you talk to your children. They are learning many skills from you and so am I.I look forward to watching you every week as I know I will learn something new.Have an Amazing week .
You mentioned on one of your videos about a viewer saying you are uneducated…. She was so wrong. I am new to your channel and and I find you are the most educated person I have watched. I love your details you give while you’re preparing or cooking. Thank you for providing super helpful information for now and the long haul. By the way love seeing the kids help in your videos. They will someday be great fathers.
It makes me smile when I see you shake your jar of milk. I have been away from the farm for 45 years and I still find myself shaking a carton of milk from the grocery. Old habits are hard to break.
I just discovered your channel. WHAT A GEM YOU ARE! I'm learning so much from you! I'm binge watching all your videos right now and you are such a good teacher! God has certainly given you a gift. Keep them coming.
Good Morning sweet lady and beautiful family, I love you hamburger bun recipe, I have made it a lot and I freeze what is left and they are just amazing , I no I would have thought of it one day lol but it might have taken me a little while to make hotdogs buns so thank you for this great video, one could make a double batch and freeze the buns for later. I loved seeing the boys in the kitchen helping Mom and I loved seeing there beautiful smiles, you have amazing and helpful children who are learning wonderful skills to use in life what a precious gift you are giving them, they might not realize it now but one day they will think Mom for everything she has taught them. You amaze me with everything you get done and your garden is beautiful, I love seeing your garden, I love watching and trying most of what you show us I have learned a lot from you and I just want to Thank you for sharing the things you share with us it bring me a lot of happiness. I love Saturday mornings, I come every Saturday to see what I get to learn that day and it always starts my Saturday off great. I hope you realize what joy you bring to so many with you Godly love, beautiful smile, your kind and caring ways and I just want to Thank you for everything you do for us. God Bless
Love your weekly (and sometimes twice weekly) videos! I find bread-making of any kind so therapeutic, and this one looks yummy! PS...Sound of Hope is a terrific movie!! Blessings, Marie
Thank you Ruthann! Always appreciate what ever you take the time to share... always valuable! Blessings on your family and your homestead Kiddo! 🌻🐛🌿💚🙏💕
Chicken Alfredo sounds great! I am looking forward to that! I love all your videos!!! I Love how you don’t edit out the interactions with the kids too. It’s real life at your house. We have been making your hamburger buns for months now. We absolutely love them. Now I am going to try shaping them into hotdog buns! Thanks so much for making amazing useful and entertaining content! You’re the best!
Thank you so much for this, @ruthannzimm ! I have been planning to make your hamburger buns into hot dog buns for a few weeks, but I'm in such overload with the garden and cow and life I had no brain power left to figure out how to shape them! 😂😂 We bit off a lot this year and it's all coming ready at once, just like you echoed. I think your messages about mental and physical load are very important to hear. I'm finally starting to really learn that The Lord wants us to live in rest, delight, and peace. Striving, stress and burdens... Those things still happen but they aren't from heaven! I love your reassuring parenting tips sprinkled in. When you said, "you can fast-forward to the shaping part", I thought, "no way, I'll miss something good." 🥰 You are a blessing to me. ❤
I just made 10 pints of your salsa recipe. I made it from homegrown tomatoes & jalapeños. My Mr & I are retired so have less need for large quantities of canned goods but I love to gift it. One of my favorite things others love is my green tomato jam using various jellos for flavoring & faux apple filling using the overgrown zucchini.
Yes !!! SLOW........HEALTHY.........&.........VALUABLE !!!!!! Thank you, Ruth Ann, you have given me the right wording to change many minds about how to get nutrition into my family !!! THANK YOU !!!!
Thank you for the hotdog bun recipe/instructions! I've been wanting to start making buns because we don't like the store bought buns, and homemade is cheaper anyway! I can see this recipe quickly becoming a favourite!
You are just a natural in the kitchen, and you have a family, so your house is lived in. Like I try to explain to my grandchildren. I don't expect spotless, but I do want neat because we live here. I have re-watched many of your videos and continue to learn something every time. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, I will try this recipe. I love how your kids all work together and get a long so well. No arguing or fighting. Such a nice family. God bless you all.
Good Saturday morning to the Zimmerman family, from Southern Indiana!😊 The Bosch mixer is on my Christmas list. Okay, the Bosch mixer is my Christmas list!
My husband said he needs to burn some things so maybe we could have brats for dinner. Of course, I will need homemade buns for our home raised pork brats. Thanks, RuthAnn!
I love your hamburger bun recipe! I have wanted to make hot dog buns so this video came along just in time. I have learned so much from you and truly appreciate you for passing along your knowledge. God bless!
I used hard red wheat and Kamut , what I had in my pantry, The bread was really good. love your recipe and how easy it was to prepare. I don't have a big family and I am not much into cooking, but your videos showed me easier ways to get around it. I am feeling so much better getting off those process foods. My family likes eating at home instead of going out. The Cross Legacy helps me keep vegetables longer and you show me lots of ways I can preserve without wasting a lot of food. Thank you so very much😀😀
Yes! Please show us how you take your home canned foods and prepare meals with it. Especially dry canned potatoes! I love your channel! Keep up the great work! And please write a book! I know we would all buy it!!!
I LOVE my Bosch mixer!! I have been married for 56 years and started with a Kitcheaid Stand mixer. A big one. 4 years ago, it was just getting to the point where I could no longer mix sourdough bread or any other bread recipe in it and not have it take forever. I invested in a Bosch and I can tell you all right now, BEST investment ever! I can double my bread recipes and the Bosch will handle the kneading/mixing with no problems. The motor, in my option, is much more powerful than the KA and I wish I would have stared out with the Bosch. I cook from scratch all the time and this is one kitchen small appliance that I would not skimp on. RuthAnn is right! You won't regret getting one.
I made your hot dog bun recipe today, first time making buns. I think they turned out great😊 Thank you for sharing. I'm retired now and just getting into bread making and enjoying it. I love your step by step videos.
Yummy! ❤ Thank you for all you do! I love coming along and for all the good reminders, truth and recipes! Those kittens know all about milking time! ❤ So cute!
I tried your hot dog/Hamburg bun recipe today. It was so easy and turned out great! Thank you for the wonderful recipes you share. Made the fermented cucumbers too. So crisp and easy to make.
Ruth, I've tried making buns before without success but, you explain this and demonstrate so well that I will try again and freeze them immediately after they cool! I also enjoy watching the children enjoying their chores and successes! (Kendra)
Would love to hear more about the dogs. You had briefly mentioned them in a video once that I have been able to find. New to the channel and love it! Thanks
Good day to you. I tried the zinc tablets you recommended for green beans and I was delighted that it worked. No more insipid looking green beans so although they are ok to eat these look so much appealing.
Growing up in Wisconsin in the 50s, our school started the first weekday after Labor Day and ended mid-June. I imagine that was because the farm families in the area needed the whole family to harvest the crops. I continue to be shocked that school starts in August out west while it is scorching hot in some states.
Thank you...i am 74 and you made me feel so good when you said about neighbors and friends gleening your gardens. We always put in a big garden and we would also let people know to come and share in our harvest
I look forward to your videos each week. So much good information. I have done this with the hamburger bun recipe. It was great. Thank you for your time each week. God bless you. 💕
I so appreciate your going over the very beginning of making the dough. I have heard that studies have found that in order for anyone to learn something new it takes at least SEVEN times to start understanding what we are being taught - - repetition is the secret to learning. If we have learned how to do something and someone introduces us to something that is different from what we have previously learned, we will have to observe the new training at LEAST ELEVEN times before it begins to penetrate of our prior learning. It has been decades since I have made any kind of dough. And, now I am into the sourdough process ... I appreciate every time you go over something you have taught previously. For me, it doesn't matter how many times I have seen others do it (as in binging on sourdough started process, etc on TH-cam) ... I am a HARD learner! I have to process ALL the information and if someone does one thing different from what you have taught, I have to go through and get garbage in and garbage out. And, then! I lack confidence because I know that if there are five hundred ways to do something wrong, I will have to experience 499 of those wrong ways before I realize that I now know more ways to do something wrong than it would have taken if my mind didn't play tricks on me! I have gotten used to the way I learn .... and I appreciate all the times you go over everything. It is the way I learn what I did or missed from the time before. Being a mom is an amazing amount of energy to reach all of those different personalities! It is part of the joy of living - - having differences and so many opportunities to grow more as an adult. Challenges are really what make life more exciting! (I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but it is the reality - - all the more enjoyable because we are not alone as we work along to help others get to where we are - - and hopefully to teach them how to avoid some of the handicaps we have had to operate worth as we were learning!). Good job, Miss Ruth!
I discovered fermented salsa by accident when my fresh salsa picked up a little zing after sitting at the back of the fridge too long. 😂 My husband wasn’t crazy about it, but he hasn’t fully embraced fermented foods. Yet. Thanks for sharing with us!
It’s getting so hot and dry in NW GA our garden didn’t do much of anything except cucumbers , yellow squash and corn and a few green beans no tomatoes to can except a few jars of salsa terrible year for gardens
In an’t believe that corn grew that much in two months!! When I was growing up in IA/IL the saying was “knee high by the Fourth of July” but they didn’t have those monster breeds back 100 years ago… you make me miss home.
Yum! Another winner! I always learn something in your videos. I’m going to try the buns and freeze them to “surprise” my adult children at the next cook out!❤
Ruth Anne,You are absolutely wonderful! I I really want to make this recipe !!! Maxwell is growing up so fast!! He is so cute and has a beautiful smile!!! There is nothing you cannot do!!
I applaud your ability to record, interact with your kids, talk to us and successfully make yeast dough and buns. I know when we were raising our daughters I could multitask pretty well, but now if my husband says something to me when I’m following a recipe (oh😳no) it takes me a bit to remember where I was at 😅. I look forward to your videos.
Hi RuthAnn and sweet family! Good job on building the fire Maxwell. Your hotdog buns look so good. Fermenting more than kraut is something I would like to learn. I put okra up in the freezer yesterday. Have a very blessed weekend everyone!
Oh yes, please do the Alfredo. I had to go plant base for medical reasons, but I still love watching what you do because I still cook regular for my kids.
These hot dog buns look so good!!! And I can’t wait to try to ferment veggies, I will have to look for the venting lid with the date selector, so helpful!

Yes to the Chicken Alfredo video, yes to the pizza oven video, yes to everything 😂🧡 Lorie 😊

I have a lot of trouble figuring out size, so the canning ring to standardize is VERY helpful! Great ideas, as always, thank you RuthAnn.🌻
I love your interaction with your family........keeping it real!

Thank you Ruthann! Always appreciate what ever you take the time to share... always valuable! Blessings on your family and your homestead Kiddo! 🌻🐛🌿💚🙏💕
Love your program!!! One busy mother!!!God is blessing you!!
We bit off a lot this year and it's all coming ready at once, just like you echoed. I think your messages about mental and physical load are very important to hear. I'm finally starting to really learn that The Lord wants us to live in rest, delight, and peace. Striving, stress and burdens... Those things still happen but they aren't from heaven!
I love your reassuring parenting tips sprinkled in. When you said, "you can fast-forward to the shaping part", I thought, "no way, I'll miss something good." 🥰
You are a blessing to me. ❤
I look forward to your videos every Saturday morning while I am having my coffee.
Maxwell is adorable :) You have great kids :)
I always love seeing a recipe repeat! It helps to review and remind me of things I have forgotten. Thanks so much.
You have the Prettiest sounding wind chimes!!!❤ I just love them!!
Thank you for the hotdog bun recipe/instructions! I've been wanting to start making buns because we don't like the store bought buns, and homemade is cheaper anyway! I can see this recipe quickly becoming a favourite!
After I burned my kitchen aid mixer up, I got the Bosch. I love it. It cuts icy cold butter into sugar perfectly for my scones
The chimes sound so pretty!
Good Saturday morning to the Zimmerman family, from Southern Indiana!😊
The Bosch mixer is on my Christmas list. Okay, the Bosch mixer is my Christmas list!
My husband said he needs to burn some things so maybe we could have brats for dinner. Of course, I will need homemade buns for our home raised pork brats. Thanks, RuthAnn!
I so loved the longer visit with you and the family today. Thank You for the recipe!❤️
Love my Saturday mornings with this family
You're the best!
Thank you for your beautiful videos! I'm learning so much from you!
Love your thinking on quick meals! This is exactly how I do it. Would love an Alfredo video!
Love watching you cook! It’s very inspiring!❤
I made your hot dog bun recipe today, first time making buns. I think they turned out great😊 Thank you for sharing. I'm retired now and just getting into bread making and enjoying it. I love your step by step videos.
I wish I would have had the time and the knowledge that I have now when my kids were little. But I can share with them and the grands.
I just love watching you teach your children such valuable skills
Now you’ve given me inspiration to make up a batch of hot dog and hamburger buns and freeze them.
Ruth,
I've tried making buns before without success but, you explain this and demonstrate so well
that I will try again and freeze them immediately after they cool!
I used the zinc tablet also & they came out beautiful. Canning more today. Couldn't remember where I had seen it. Thanks for reminder.
Also, I want to tell you I love this recipe for hamburger and hotdog rolls. I even used the leftover for a loaf of bread.
Thank You for sharing!
Good Morning I just love my Saturday morning information….I’m cooking rolls today so this was awesome.
I discovered fermented salsa by accident when my fresh salsa picked up a little zing after sitting at the back of the fridge too long. 😂 My husband wasn’t crazy about it, but he hasn’t fully embraced fermented foods. Yet. Thanks for sharing with us!
Please do a video of the Chicken Fredo with all of our canned items please and thank you!
Good morning. Nice cool rain before heat kicks in.
You must be reading my mind, I was just about to go looking for a hotdog roll recipe!🎉
I love fizzy salsa and fizzy pickles ❤ thanks for sharing 😊
It’s getting so hot and dry in NW GA our garden didn’t do much of anything except cucumbers , yellow squash and corn and a few green beans no tomatoes to can except a few jars of salsa terrible year for gardens
Your kindness preaches ❣️
Your accent is so different from my long southern drawl. I love to hear you talk.❤
In an’t believe that corn grew that much in two months!! When I was growing up in IA/IL the saying was “knee high by the Fourth of July” but they didn’t have those monster breeds back 100 years ago… you make me miss home.
My garden in upstate NY is all done and canning is all done.
I have just recently started following you and I just want to say that I love the way you teach and share your recipes for us all.
Yum! Another winner! I always learn something in your videos. I’m going to try the buns and freeze them to “surprise” my adult children at the next cook out!❤
Yum, those hot dog buns look delicious. I'd definitely buy a package of those if I seen them in my local store.
Great to learn from you, see your wonderful family & see the results of all your yummy cooking & fermenting! Thanks & God bless everyone 🤗🇨🇦
Ruth Anne,You are absolutely wonderful! I I really want to make this recipe !!! Maxwell is growing up so fast!! He is so cute and has a beautiful smile!!! There is nothing you cannot do!!
Good morning everyone 😊
Thank you for sharing your recipe looks delicious.
Have a great day!!!
