I also think there's unfortunately a demographic of people that assumed the whole series was going to just be minecraft survival and got disappointed when there was an actual story that had to progress. I remember Charlie giving a quick review of it during a stream and he said something along the lines of "all of a sudden they're driving cars and trains" and that it wasn't as good. (Not to mention his statement was entirely inaccurate as they never rode a train except in a tiny scene of artistic expression which wasn't real and lasted about 4 sceonds)

The biggest problem, for me personally, is that it suffers from shonen sickness. The cast is getting quite big, diluting the potential of each character, most of the girls are quite uninteresting even in the context of shonen. The tomboyish girls like Kohaku and Niki get a bit of spotlight, but then there's ones like Ruri who only exists as a plot device, same goes for Homura too. What you end up with is wasted potential, and there's nothing worse than wasted potential.

An extra problem I’m finding is there’s too many things to watch. I have to watch demon slayer or whatever show is airing at the time or else it’s going to get spoiled on social media, luckily I have enough time and will always have time for Dr Stone, but I’ve definitely skipped a few good animes to binge later simply because I had to keep up with the mainstream giants.

I saw the video title on my homepage, and was immediately about ready to go to merc a fool, especially since Dr. Stone is my favorite anime. After watching this, I have to agree with you: I too believe that it got overshadowed by the other heavy hitters; BUT, I also believe that there are many who won't even give it a chance because it's a "boring science anime" and "doesn't have enough action" (I've heard these arguments numerous times).

I was tempted to leave some harsh comments about several points of this video, but I calmed down. You're essentially saying it could have been more popular than it is if it didn't release at the same time as other more action packed series. If we were talking about the box office of a movie, or snagging a prime time slot on a tv network 30 years ago, I'd agree that timing can make or brake the success of a story. But we live in an era of streaming. We can watch these shows at our leisure. That being the case, the popularity of a show will mostly be decided by the technical execution, and how much of an impact it's meant to have on the demographic. The demographic of most anime being teen boys, the show with more science than hype fight scenes simply won't hit the same numbers. Release it whenever you want, and I think it will have the same level of success, because as I said earlier, we can watch whatever we want, whenever we want.
I love the show. I watched it over the majority of the animes it released with. Is it because I'm 33 and can appreciate a story that's not about magic and martial art fight scenes, ergo I don't fit the main demographic...? That probably has a lot to do with it.

Dr. Stone is my aabsolute favourite Anime, even tho I dont really like to give things or people the first place cup in general just because I think there are too many points that makes everything and everybody unique and special in their own way BUT. DR. Stone just crashed in when I saw it the first time. There is something with this Manga/Anime that makes it SO DIFFERENT to others. The way how they deal with the different kinds of morals, the way they show how individual but also important everything and everybody is in their own way. I love the way how neither Tsukasa, Senkū, Gen, ect. are truely good nor evil. Also the World Tsukasa is looking for is not bad but not ideal, just as Senkūs World he wants is not perfectly good either. Nothing is black and white, everything is a spectrum and this is, in my opinion, just very realistic to the real world and this is what fires me up with this Story. The science ofc is also a big part and not only that they bring in science in the way of math, chemistry, physics but also in psychology, economics, politics and so on. I have never seen a Manga or Anime which delivers so much of knowledge to the public and may it be in a more basic way so also children could catch up on that.

I think biggest problem is it's out of box.
It's doesn't have high budget animations(moderate), doesn't have romance (little bit), doesn't have much fan services (have a little bit), doesn't have your avarage isekai protagonist (he's fighting with team not trying to make "power of friendship" and boost his own power, and sometimes he's just lucky and sometimes not)
you all want to see romance, classic isekai protagonist, fan services and high budget animation fights

Dr. Stone is in my eyes the opposite of Demon Slayer, Demon Slayer has a good Story and stunning animation(each time Lightning/Fire-/Water-/Sun-Breathing is on Screen it looked like art you could put in any gallery), while Dr. Stone has the stunning Story(very unique with a lot of Scienceoda[hopefully someone gets this joke xD]) and good animations. And both have very interesting characteres.

The problem is that most peoples only stick in their comfort zone of generic shonen animes that almost all have similar scenarios all over again (with their own touch of originality but still) and then when an anime is comes out of that zone, no one wants it and want to keep watching the same damn things all over again, and let's be honest, an anime's quality isn't determined by how hyped it is, there are anime that diserves to be popular but aren't despite how good they are and then animes that are mid at best and get crazy amount of hype.

VERY LONG COMMENT UP AHEAD !!!
I think the special thing abt dr stone (at least for me) is that its very human. Probably the most human series i've watched, i know that doesnt rlly make any sense but hear me out.
Dr stone is basically a story abt human evolution and how humanity conquered the world, we are the smartest creatures on the planet and we're at the top of the food chain. Dr stone is showing us how we managed to achieve that and how important human wisdom and human history truly is.
And this is from my personal experience, while watching dr stone i felt a great sense of admiration towards our past human ancestors for their hard work, as well as immense guilt. I realized that im an ungrateful person and i often took things for granted. The scene when suika was able to see clearly when she got her glasses got me bawling my eyes out, i also have blurry vision but i never suffered from it bc in modern age we already found a solution for it. It made me think, how abt the ppl from the old age? They died being unable to see the full potential of what the world can show them.
Even now when we lost our loved ones we have a lot of machines we can use to preserve our memories with them like photos, videos, social medias etc. but back then those things didnt even exist. Cures for illnesses that back then wasnt able to be cured, prosthetic body parts for those who got into accidents, ppl back then didnt have any of these. It made me think that man, us ppl from the modern age are rlly lucky. Our life is more convenient thanks to our human ancestors who suffered for the sake of future generations.
Besides dr stone being educational in terms of academics, its also educational in terms of morality. Its a show i believe many ppl should watch so we can all learn to be grateful of what we have in today's modern age, and appreciate the hard work of the old ppl from the older ages.

There really were too many good shows that came out that occupied my attention way stronger than doctor stone did. And that's despite the fact that I was initially interested in the premise of it at the time. I'll probably just wait until the entire season is over and then just do what I did with attack on Titan and marathon it although I hope it'll be better than when I did marathon attack on Titan and the end result is let's just say at a certain point in season 4 I dropped it lol.
