although I have never driven trucks in snow, you would be hard pressed to find snow in the tropics :) Has anyone ever though of mounting a plow blade on the front. You would certainly have the power to push one. Think of all the traction you would have with 22 wheel behind it, not to mention the rear of the trailer would not be susceptible to sliding?
at the place at 6.50 a mate was coming up the hill with his truck fully loaded when a foreign semi was coming down and slid into the left side ditch rolling on the side destroing the load of plastic pellets bound for a styrofome factory. my mates company is inte recovery business at times so ended up making lots of money from the accident:) a very tricky hill that one, but out on the island sørøya its way worse, never ever go to breivikbottn or sørvær with a 4x2 truck during winter :p
anyone can get stuck.. but even though that is the case, it's still illegal to drive a vehicle constructed for over 3500kg in Norway without chains during the winter.

Did you also see the Nowegian truck near the road??? I'v 5 years experience driving up there. Did you do that? Most of Nowwagian drivers from the south are afraid driving up to the north in the wintertime. Think about that before you give coment

He know what he´s doing there. I drive in Norway and if I see a accidents most times with norwegian drivers! I read the newspapers, I look TV and nobody say anything if a norwegian have a accident. If i was you i wuld have asked my boss to get a truck build for driving in norway when you get a new one

sometimes you just don't know when to chain up. when you figure out you should have. It is usually the case when you should have chained ten miles back the road. It happens to lots of people. I knew as soon as I saw it. You spun out, that's the problem with single axle tractors. be safe. Breeze.
This kind of truck and trailer setup is bad for this kind of roads we have in Norway. They have low weight on the drive axle. And probably a combination of bad tires for snow and now chains.. Norwegian truck drivers see this kind of trucks stuck everyday in the winter.

They seriously need to learn that driving a semi or Tandem in norway aint the same as in their own country. The terrain in norway do not allow any mistake in wintertime, and they should get extreme snow tires on and have in my eyes double set of chains. There are so many foreign truckers that get a run denial when they come to norway. Not only are their tires crap,and they have no chains,but they are NOT skilled enough and they do NOT have experience on a norwegian truckers level by far. Norwegian governemnt are looking into having foreign truckers taking a special license to be allowed to drive in norway. This can not happen soon enough in my eyes! And so we are clear on something,im not talking about Scandinavian truckers here,but the eastern european countries, and truckers from eurpoean countries with very flat environment terrain.

Veel op Italie (Parma ham halen, en Nederlandse varkens brengen) en Frankrijk (bloemen heen, wijn terug), maar dat is al een flinke poos geleden. Was nog in de tijd van grensovergangen, op geld beluste Zuid Franse en Italiaanse juten, zonder navigatie, airco, sperdif, cruise en half automatische synchrobakken. En als je pech had ook nog zonder stuurbekrachtiging, op zo'n ouwe Daf, met een amechtige Perkins diesel, 3 x gevulcaniseerde banden en een bak van laat eens raden wat voor versnelling, maar nooit de goeie. Daar stuurden ze je rustig mee naar Clermont Ferrant en St. Etienne. Mijn zoon rijdt ook, maar alleen binnenland.
You will always get stuck at some point. And the reason is mostly drivers error or bad truck in some way. it is relay hard to see where the edge of the asphalt is under the snow. so if the plow truck have made the road to wide you can get outside and you are stuck (like the Norwegian truck you have in there) some times you end up there trying to let a another car/truck pas. then you have the truck that dont have new fresh "snow" tires on. often they had some useless summer tire or M&S crap. if you cannot afford real tires stop at the border plz! the Norwegian ppl do NOT want you here! And then you have the truck with a singel rear axel with a bad driver in them. both need to be forbiden in norway during winter time. you just have to low load on the drive axel. you need to have the full 18 tons in front and be able to lift the back axel. with the right tires, the right truck and the right driver you have no problem. the crap coming from outside scandinavia usaly dont have anny of that :( so they make norway stand stile at the first glans of snow :(
