Superman and Goku would be sparring buddies.
With Superman eventually outpacing Goku by quadrillions of times, even though Goku is a martial arts master.
To paraphase the words of Stan Lee, when asked a similar verus question, "That's a stupid question. Who would win? Whoever the writer wants to win. If the writers want it, Spiderman can beat up Galactus."

Considering Superman has 1000+ years of combat experience, and has learned and fought beings who learned *all* martial arts on the planet/in the galaxy, I'd say Superman would have a really big chance in winning against Goku in a hand-to-hand no powers combat.
I always imagine goku vs superman would be a battle of wits and quick thinking because superman is actually smarter than people give him credit for. Sadly DC always forget that fact like how they forget captain atom and martian manhunter in general.

I don’t know if it makes a whole lot of sense to get annoyed by writers “forgetting” that Superman has fighting skills when it could just be that DC doesn’t consider him to be that skilled of a fighter.
I know this isn't a Goku video, but since the Goku people are probably gonna claim that Goku is more skilled, The difference between Goku & Superman is that Goku is always learning and growing his techniques. While Superman has already Learned everything there ever will be, and can perform them almost perfectly after seeing them once for a few seconds.
Like I said super man is more skilled than u think it's just that it's out of character
Id say this is dishonest. Goku saw a technique that took a literal human lifetime to develop, as a child, and imitated it immediately upon seeing it one time. He too has a ridiculous ability to learn things. Martial arts are something you learn consistently, using experiences to temper what you thought you knew. Learning a technique is one thing, unimportant. Learning distance, positioning, angles, openings ect ect is actually important.
You cannot learn through books, rote memorisation will not help you.
@@tillburr6799 Yes, Goku's martial arts abilities is beyond impressive. But Goku did not learn how to assemble a reality warping machine after looking at it for a few seconds, Superman just has a higher cognitive ability therefore by definition he just can have more knowledge and knows more about martial art's In general, that's not to say Goku isn't close to Superman in skill in some aspects, But Superman is just overall more effective.

As much as I appreciate Superman being a symbol of hope and justice, previous animated and live action incarnations of Supes show him as a punching bag who gets his ass kicked for a moral victory.
I want to see more of a Superman who puts his foot down, kick some ass, and lay down some laws. Thats one of the reasons I appreciate Z Snyders DC movies.
AMEN BROTHER
Good video. Superman's fighting skills and combat experience is very underrated.
I'd argue that even most writers often forget that good ol' Supes can throw hands with the best of them.
Even if he hadn't been trained by such masters as Batman and Wonder Woman, by this point he would have tons and tons of hands-on martial experience against beings as strong as himself.
Besides, that's the point many people forget about: given that Superman almost always goes for a non-lethal takedown, he *had* to develop martial skills and combat tactics to subdue beings of his own power level without killing them.
His virtue makes him a more capable fighter, same as Batman. Batman could've just gone all Punisher on the criminals; instead, he trained to overpower even armed and murderous opponents with his hands and wits. Supes effectively did the same.

He don’t want to hurt his friends or family unlike Batman and Wonder Woman in certain instances so ofc despite all of this then it’s safe to say that his ferocity and such is the lowest of the three. We need consistency in character. Not every time is he reduced to this. Often times he is though.

Great vid
Great video! Another great example of how good Superman is at fighting is from the Batman graphic novel "The Dark Knight:The Master Race" W/here he fights and defeats 5 Kryptonians that are younger and stronger than him.
yeah that story has a very very *very* impressive combat feat for superman, but the superman form that story is from a different continuity.
the superman from the "dark knight" continuity is not the same as main continuity superman (the version of superman i'm using in this video).
still, it's crazy that dark knight batman sees that superman fight and actually says "i'm a beginner and baby tier when it comes to martial arts"
that's insane!
Boxing is not a low ball sport. It takes a lot of skill you won't automatically lose to a martial artist as a boxer.

Even if you don't read comics and only watch TV shows you should still know Kal El is more than his powers.
Superman gets stranded on a world with a red sun so he has no powers: He just grows a beard and becomes a master survivalist.
Superman finds an army of evil kryptonians in an alternate prison dimension and now he's outnumbered by people who have the same powers as him: He also knows their weaknesses and figures out how to put them back in that alternate prison dimension.
Superman fights a purple mutant who's touch weakens superman by taking away his powers and strengthens the purple mutant by giving it superman's powers: read above comment.
Superman is being harassed by an omnipotent 5th dimensional prankster with a weird name and the only way to beat him is make him say his weird name backwards: Loony Toons stile mind games.

I think what frustrates me the most about the kryptonite argument is that not only does Clark usually know it exists, basic logic would dictate that as soon as Bruce started implementing lead into his suit, Clark would have reason the belive the guy has kryptonite up every sleeve he has, and the massive lead laced vault was probably full of it.
I mean this dude has defeated being with tens of thousands years of combat experience without any combat experience
Supes has received training from Batman, Womder Woman, and even Mongul at some point of course he knows how to fight. I wish writers would put him in more situations where he showcases his fighting ability.

My goat 🐐 I hope you have a nice day!
There's also that time when a depowered Superman pulled a one man army when the Fortress of Solitude was invaded by his enemies. I don't remember the context. Superman got that dawg in him.
Superman GOATED
In the Frank Miller-verse, Superman had gone through basic training/Special Forces in the Navy and dropped out of it.
And in “Dark Knight III” he unveiled how much he’d been holding back in a fight with some Kryptonians in finale. Batman says that even he’s impressed by Superman’s capacity for violence.
My take is that due to his tendency to restrain himself and his peaceful nature (Clark Kent is typically described as “Mild-Mannered” ) most people write him off as just a slugger/brawler.
Hey, i dont know if you're still reading comments on your videos but could you please do a video on the Steven King mythos and how strong the different things are. From what im understanding theres a cosmic order to the mythos.
Superman's Earth dad is actually a goated father
the argument I generally see is that because he is used to being invulnerable most of the time he might be more likely to be careless and overcoming powergaps isn't second nature to him the same way it is to batman because it's not something he has to do every day
Now he just needs a sword teacher and to bring back his golden age sword
If they didn’t have powers? Superman is 6’3 and 225 while Goku is 5’9” and 137lbs according to the databook.
Both know how to fight. But if you put them in an Boxing Match and MMA fight? Superman wins because of his height, weight and experience. Goku has more skill, but Superman has more experience in boxing and wrestling too.
Is this real world logic in fiction why would any of that apply???

It's kinda funny that you used Superman's fight with Darkseid as his "big dumb punching" example. That's the same scene where Supes talks about how he feels like he lives in a world of cardboard, where he always holds back. Now that he sees that Darkseid can take his full power, Superman cuts loose.
If anything, it shows that Superman can change his fighting style and amount of strength used so that he doesn't kill his opponent, thus showing that he knows how to fight.
If you take suggestions for video ideas, try to tell us if Kratos is really as powerful as people think he is.

You should have shown The Black Panther and The Silver Surfer when talking about the full nelson being devastating.

Superman is a vastly underrated character, both in abilities and morals. People really need to read more.
About the "Super vs Goku" discussion, I doubt they'd ever spar, only if it is beneficial for both (like those races he had with Flash, to beneficent causes). Goku would probably ask Wonder Woman more often for sparring.
Although they rarely show it, you forgot to mention that canonically Superman without being solar powered is still smarter, faster, stronger, and more durable than most other species in the universe due to the highly evolved nature of Kryptonians and their biology having adapted to their planet's gravity (something like 50x that of Earth's).
There’s also the fact that post crisis superman has canonically beaten marvel’s Thor, who is almost, if not just as skilled as marvel’s Hercules.
Superman's mental fortitude is impressive, but wouldn't he go insane if he looked at Cthulu?😅
I just wish they actually, you know, showed that more….
So How does the New 52 work in there? genuin Question since im not really well versed in it or how the new 52 works with the old Materials.
nowadays there is no new 52 or post crisis or silver age or bronze age, etc. currently all of that was mixed into a single superman, which we (comic book nerds) call "infinite frontier superman"
basically, modern superman is a composite of pretty much everything from 1950 up until current year.

the current modern version of superman from the comics nowadays is a composite of sorts.

@@literarywho ok I don't really read dc comics too much so I wasn't sure, one thing I've always hated is looking at comic book characters entire history and saying that they can still do things they did like 50+ years ago(example being superman shooting mini supermen from his hands)
A Goku vs Superman fight w/o powers is like comparing the brains of Black Panther and Batman
Great Superman video showcase of his great fighting skills.
Side note: I honestly think that Goku is a better fighter than Superman.
I think that’s fair since at times Superman doesn’t stay consistent with using techniques when it comes to fighting villains. But that mainly has to due with different writers and artists preferences when it comes to illustration main continuity Superman’s fighting prowess. He usually fights like a kick boxers with some wrestling elements.
That's fair
Just think about it: Superman has a fortress that contains all the martial arts info of a super-advanced race _and_ the fighting skills of countless other alien races, now add in all of the fighting styles he can learn on Earth. Just as Batman travelled to learn lots of skills, Superman can fly to other _planets_ and learn things Bruce has never heard of.
In theory, Superman _should_ be among the best hand to hand fighters in DC, able to use & mix countless styles with a highly advanced brain that can not only memorize the techniques, but react and move faster than almost anyone and hit harder than almost everyone. His perfect memory and x-Ray vision would also allow him to become a medical expert who could use that knowledge when fighting(ex: quickly being able to twist arms to cause maximum pain in every joint before most opponents even throw a punch).
But nah, writers just sleep on all that and pretend all he can do is lift heavy stuff, punch really hard, and fly.
