How To Replace Speed/ABS Sensor on Audi A7 4G & Audi A6 C7

  • In this video I am changing a rear right wheel speed sensor (also known as ABS sensor) on an Audi A7 4G 2012 S-Line. The process is identical on Audi A6 C7, and very similar on Audi A1, A3, A4, A5, A8 and Volkswagen vehicles. The intention is to show viewers how to change or replace the speed/ABS sensor and not spend a fortune in the dealership.
Faults indicating the sensor fault can be:
    - Start/Stop system fault
    - Stabilisation program and ABS fault
    - TPMS or tyre pressure system fault
    - Parking brake fault
    - Abnormal automatic transmission operation
    - Speedometer malfunction
    - Check engine light comes on
    - Cruise control does not work
I have paid just over £20 for a new sensor instead of spending hundreds of pounds in the dealership. That said I hope this video will be helpful.
    Genuine part numbers for the sensor used: 4E0927803F, 4E0927803D, 4E0927803A, 4E0927803F, 4E0927803D, 4E0927803F, 4E0927803F, 4E0927803D, 4E0927803A

What does it mean when the parking brake, power steering , ABS, ECS , TPMS and adaptive lights fault comes up and the problem is that it goes on and goes off by own when driven for sometime what's the problem in this? I own 2017 AUDI Q3 35 TDI technology.

Hi, I recently changed the wheels from 18 zoll to 20 zoll.
And now the digital tachometer is always locked at 60kmh, instead of the analog one working normally.
Can it be related to the ABS sensor? Or the fact that I put bigger wheels? And CheckEngine is on.
    Thanks

      Hi,
      Thanks for your comment.
I am not an expert, but your issue does not sound like it's related to the change of wheels, nor ABS sensors.
Best thing to do would probably be to run full diagnostics and see what faults the computer is reading. Then take it from there...
      Hope it helps.

I just finished this job on my A4 B8.5. Not too hard. The shaft was corroded in place Tried drilling a hole, inserting a screw and pulling. Broke the screw. Soaked a cotton swab with alternatively with acetone, WD-40 and hot water and vinegar. Didn't loosen it. Had to drill it out. Measure the part so as not to go too far. Measure your part to be sure but on an A4 B8.5 its 36mm total length, 23 mm full bore diameter, narrows for 7 next narrowing section and 6mm for the final narrow end. The hole seems to only narrow for the part end around 30mm. Understanding the narrowing sections will help when drilling it out. Not knowing these measurements it took me longer as I carefully drilled with a smaller bit and chipped out stuck pieces with a mallet and screwdriver finally cleaning it up with a rotating tool. The part slip in nicely then snapped in for the final mm. Part cost $25 time was 3 hours. Garage estimate was $300. Dealer was likely more than that.

@@DIY_it_ALL Yes. It was very helpful. Thanks for posting it. It demystifies the process and shows that it is doable. You're one of the few who show the sensor when it breaks off and what to do to drill it out. Most of the others it have it pull out easily. I liked your VCDS error code mention as well. I am learning to use VCDS and codes so it helped show wha to look for. I had the right sensor go bad a few years ago, this time I decide to do this left on it myself. Very happy with the result. Thanks again for your work here. :-)

    • @DIY_it_ALL
      @DIY_it_ALL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scott,
I would recommend using VCDS software for scanning faults. OBD Eleven capabilities are quite limited and as such it can only detect some faults, whereas VCDS can access each car module individually and show you absolutely all faults.

@@noah2016999 I removed all the plugs from the sensors and checked them with a multimeter on the ohms setting, all tested fine plugged them back on and it fixed it somehow. I suspect it was either a poor connection or a fault in the loom but untill the problem comes back I'm not going to look for it. I've learnt over the years if its working just leave it don't go looking for problems 😂

Hello mate! I have a huge problem… i own a Audi A6 2017 (67 plate) and i have a problem with it. The problem is that the same errors appear on my dashboard and i went to the mechanic and he put the tester on but said ther that the Abs Pump malfanction valve and after right front ABS sensor short circuit… i replaced yesterday the sensor and the mechanic deleted all the errors but after he was done when i reverse and turn Right ( BUM ) everything pop out again in the dash. Do you know what the problem is ? Can you please help me ? As im desperate 😞 ( the car doesnt have not even 4 years old ) i really appreciate! Thank you and i wait for your response.

      Hi Bogdan,
Unfortunately I am not able to tell you what the issue is, but if I were you I would scan all errors again and see if speed sensor error reappears. If it does, then check sensor connections and wires, maybe it got damaged somewhere along the way.
If sensor fault does not reappear, then see what other faults there are and try to eliminate them. You've mentioned ABS Pump Malfunction, maybe it is worth checking the actual pump and see if it definitely functions.
Sorry I am unable to help more.
