    I assumed OJ wanted to get it on film and use it for financial gain was so he could save his father’s farm. Although I could see how him saving the farm would connect with the idea of honoring his father. Hopefully I’m not misremembering things.

      Both could come into play, but I think his father’s tragic death is what drives him more than money. Plus he’s the guy that says “nope” when creepy shit happens😂 making OJ the smartest character in the film.

    I think that the shoe was a reference to "the perfect shot" that they were talking about. I think a lot of the movie is also a comment on the Hollywood, or the entertainment industry as well. This movie was such a lovely onion of meanings with so many different layers and subtleties.

      @BillGriff1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sooo many layers. I’ve heard people go as far as saying Gordy is an Alien. The best thing about this movie is that you could make a valid argument about anything.

    This has nothing to do with the video essay but the first picture of Peele eating the pineapple is a hilarious skit. I just watched the continental Breakfast skit today.

    Just for clarity, Jupe had been "training" the alien this whole time by feeding it the horses. The first public show was what we saw fail spectacularly.
    I think it's clear that OJ's motivation was to save his father's farm and confront the thing that killed him.
    Fuck TMZ guy xD.
    All the characters were well-written.
    Fantastic film and your review helps do it justice.

    Though the themes between the chimp and the alien are very creative and similar I still wish they could have at least substantially try to connect the two story lines

    • @BillGriff1
      @BillGriff1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand that, they almost feel like two separate films.

    I think the chip was an added example of the film’s commentary on animal rights but that’s just my opinion

    Great constructive and critical review. This film opens a lot of doors for in depth conversation. Also, it made me look up a bunch of old chimpanzee television shows....so there's that.

      In my opinion, I think she memorized the speech to express how much she idolized her father, and most importantly longed for the relationship her brother had with him. That’s my guess.
